Re: chinese carbon saddles So my social feeds urged me to try out Selle SMP saddles for a while.
I've been curious and more or less on a whim I bought the Velobuild replica of what I believe is the Selle SMP Dynamic saddle. It's their long standing classic. I was expecting this to be an instrument of torture. And while I still have to ride this for more than 2 hours straight, I'm really surprised as to how comfy this is. Once you have it dialed in, it kind of feels like you're sitting on something that basically perfectly fits your pelvis. I had to set this way further forward than my previous saddle because it basically has to disappear under your bum. You can't sit on the nose of this thing. There's pretty much exactly one spot only where this saddle feels comfy. But once you've found it, you're locked in position and you basically rotate your pelvis back and forth while sitting on the same part of the saddle depending on how aggressive you wanna ride. You do not move back or forth on this saddle at all. No sliding towards the nose and having to readjust your bum when tucking down. I'm very intrigued.
You do however have to live with the way it looks. The best thing about the design of this saddle is that most of the time you're sitting on it. :)

Re: RYET carbon MTB wheels/hubs I also purchased a set of these wheels from the Ryet store on Aliexpress.  When i first received them I did an unboxing video on Youtube.  I should point out that I was impressed by the customer service, the shipping and I genuinly liked the wheels.  The 36T rachet offered great engagement.  When I originally bought the wheels I was running Shimano.  I upgraded to the SRAM Transmission and bought a new XD freehub very seamlessly from the Ryet store.  Again great customer service.

Now lets fast forward.  They are a little over a year old and up till last Friday I haven't had an issue and the wheels are true after 1 1/2 seasons of riding regularly. Probably close to 1000 km's on them.  Please note that I am 200 lb's and ride in an area that is a lot of jagged rocks and root.

On Friday as I was going up a rock face I stood up to add power and the freehub spun on the hub making a grinding noise.  when I tried to ride afterwards the freehub spun on the hub when any power was added.  I  took the freehub apart and cleaned it / reassembled it.  Same issue.  I'm put the Shimano freehub / cassette on and same issure.

I think that the teeth that the ratchet binds to in the hub are worn doown and have failed.

So here is the good part!!!!  I contacted the Ryet store.  They told me the Hub has a one year warrant and all i have to pay is shipping.  Well shipping is $49 US.  I scoffed at that and was told that it is only 1 year and I am past 1 year. I now looked through the listing and they have this posted.

Features:

Tubeless Ready

2-Years Warranty

Ratchet 36T Hub

Pillar Spokes and Nipples

I ordered the new hub as I wanted it shipped ASAP but have now complained that there is a 2 year warranty.  Ryet told me the rims are a2 year warranty. The Hub, freehub and spokes all have a 1 year warranty as they are considered consumable.

Would I buy these wheels again. NO.  I would buy a carbon wheel off of Ali in a heartbeat from Ryet or anyone else but I would lace them to a decent hub,  I think the new hub will fail on me sometime in the not too distant future....

My build CS-GR01 Hi guys,
I will show you my bike and the parts I used.
First I bought the frame and wheel set on xmcarbonspeed.com. I chatted there with Peter. The service was decent I he advised me very good. I did order the frame set (frame, fork, headset, seat post and handlebar)  and the wheel set at 02.07. The boxes arrived 15.08. Everything was packaged save.
I bough everything else on Aliexpress
Im using the Sensah SRX pro g12 HDR group.
The Crankset I from Senicx 42T GR4  and a Sunshine Cassette 12 speed 11T-42T. They delivered to me old and rusty break pads, but they still breaking well.
The breakdiscs are from Meroca.
I bought the sattle from Ryet “Carbon EVA” it is more comfortable than expected.
I’m using Continental Terra Speed 35mm tires tubeless. Also very comfortable.

All in all im Happy with my new bike.

10 bucks + shipping. Not sure about the sizing, though.

If you just want arch support but don't care about the adjustability, there are some options with fixed arch bumps, cheap as dirt.

Re: Post the picture of your diy paint sprayjob Here's a photo and video of one of my paint jobs: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/V-t9kH_zGyU

The frame is a Winspace SLC 2.0 and stem is S-Works SL. The frame started out life in the Superlight Black colorway, this was the process:
Frame:
- Sand to bare carbon
- Transparent adhesion promoter with a faint silver sparkle
- Candy Black from Specialist Paints
- White fade base is Dolomite from Montana Cans
- Snow White Pearl from Specialist Paints over the Montana Dolomite
- Clear intercoat/Wet sand
- Decals are painted on with Ford Champagne Gold
- 2k clear coat/Wet sand
- More 2k clear coat
- Wet sand until smooth
- Cut and polish with orbital buffer

Fork:
- Sand to bare carbon
- Adhesion promoter
- Montana Shock Black
- Alcohol ink job with Tim Holtz alcohol inks and 99 iso
- 2k clear (lots of it due to the alcohol ink texture)/Wet sand until smooth
- Montana Dolomite white base/Specialist Paints Snow White Pearl
- 2k clear/wet sand/cut and buff

Will post a couple more paint jobs when I get a chance.  :)

XM CS-R01 DONE ! . . . Mostly   Please don’t flame me for starting another thread for this frame. I have a terrible memory and want to keep what I am doing in one thread. This arrived today WAY ahead of when I thought it would land.

Wow, that was fast, I didn't expect so fast delivery. Looking forward to your painted job on the frameset :)

I only ordered it on NOV 30 and it was shipped out right away. It certainly helped that I wanted it bare primer.

What came was frame, fork, seatpost/clamp thru axles, 2 derailleur hangars, headset and some cage bolts.

I must have made Peter swear at times with all my questions and delays in answering him back but he was always professional with me.

Re: LEXON Road Carbon Crankset I received the new design crank arms with a 29mm aluminium alloy spindle. I installed it in a frame that has a threaded T47 bottom bracket with internal bearings. The cranks fit just fine.

I added a 3mm drive-side spacer, as per the SRAM DUB instructions for T47 / 85.5mm / Road (https://www.sram.com/globalassets/document-hierarchy/compatibility-map/road/dub-choose-a-road-bottom-bracket-compatibility-map.pdf), and the preload ring took up the slack.

The spindle claims a 44mm chainline, but I haven't verified that yet.

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc! I was really curious about this bar with built-in computer/light mount so I ordered it in size 34cm width hoods. Took about a week to deliver and I installed it last night. I forgot to weigh it, but it didn't feel that heavy compared to a standard carbon bar. Probably weighs less than 250g. It has ample space for cable routing and feels stiff. The computer/light mount uses standard mounting hardware and easy to find spares. They can be used for either full or semi-integrated cable routing giving you options. I'm starting to gravitate towards narrower hoods and I think majority of them on AliEx are non-integrated. It works fine for me since my road bikes run -17° degree stems.
