Just finished building my FM301 — and I'm loving it so far! I finally completed the build of my FM301 frame, which I ordered from Tantan. The delivery took a bit longer than expected, mostly due to Chinese New Year and a delay getting the fork in the correct matte black finish. But it all worked out in the end. Build details: Frame: Tantan FM301 Wheels: 50mm carbon wheels with carbon spokes and ceramic bearings from Xiamen Carbon Speed (via Peter on the forum) Groupset: Shimano 105 shifters and brakes Crankset: Riro carbon, 165mm Weight is 8.05kg with th 40mm tires, bottle cages, Garmin mount and pedals. So ride configuration. I started with 30mm Continental GP4000s, which measured about 33mm on the 26mm internal width rims. For my first gravel race, I borrowed a set of 40mm tires from a friend (actual width at the knobs was 40mm). I've now ordered a pair of Hutchinson Caracal Race 40mm semi-slicks for all-around use. I mostly ride endurance routes and have a lot of easy gravel around here, so they should be a good fit. A few build notes: There’s a small gap at the headset, but nothing that bothers me. I went with a SRAM bottom bracket based on a forum tip, but it was very tight fitting the Riro crankset — I ended up using a rubber mallet. Internal cable routing was easier than expected for a first-time build. I found a great YouTube guide that used a brake cable to route through the bars — worked like a charm. I opted for a different cockpit setup than the standard one from Tantan to get flared bars. Switching it out was no problem when I asked during the order. Long time lurker here. Figured I’d update this thread with my experience. Ordered an extra small version, plain matte black finish, of this frame April 8th. Shipped out to me and I received early June, according to expected lead times. Packaging was just fine and frame looks good. Clean carbon inside and out. Little bit of overspray on the bb but nothing that can’t be easily cleaned up. Plenty of tire clearance to help try and squeeze in a little comfort in this deep tubed aero frame. Going to be building up with combo of new rival shifters, 1X Leese carbon crank, and Zen carbon 50/60 wheels. Should come in right around 7 kgs. Thanks so much for the photos! Looking very nice! Would you mind sharing how much you paid for the frame all in(ie: was it $359, or charged extra for paint)? Yes frame, seat post and fork was $359. They really wanted to sell me a one piece bar and asked multiple times if I wanted a custom paint job. Quote was $459 for bar and spacers included, shipping to US was $130 and then custom paint job was only $100 I think. But I just chose matte black standard finish. Oh and thruaxle was another $20, headset bearings would have been $10 (sourced my own) As far as quality, if this frame weighed 700g I might have concerns. How long does it take for a wheelset to be shipped? I ordered a wheelset on the Aliexpress page last week with some good coupons, but still not shipped...hoping it doesnt get cancelled :'( It always takes around 2-3 weeks for them to ship the wheels. I bought 2 pairs of them and wait the approx’ time that I mention. Then you have to wait around 1.5 weeks to receive the wheels depending on where you live. They told me the headset bearings were included with the x71. I ended up paying extra for the thru axles. So basically I should receive the frameset with everything. Still waiting for frame to ship.
