Re: Spcycle New Mold SP-R088 Carbon Road Frame Representing my build: all Chinese parts, only the tires are from Continental. Everything went smoothly without any problems. The bottom bracket is fine, the fork stem and bearings are fine, and the wheel axle surface is good. The only issue I need to take care of is the disc rubbing under load. Overall, I'm very happy with the quality of the frame. The build weighs around 7 kg.

Re: Spcycle New Mold SP-R088 Carbon Road Frame My build is complete (well, mostly – crankset is going to get swapped soon but waiting on shipping). Did a brief 25~ mile shake out ride today and my goodness this thing is fast. It accelerates very easily and feels very zippy, even though imho the geo is not that aggressive.

I wasn't really trying for a particularly weight weenie build but it clocks at 15.2lbs.

Time will tell but pretty happy with this so far and excited to ride it more!

Re: Spcycle New Mold SP-R088 Carbon Road Frame I don't have much to complain about my R088. It's been riding solid since I built mine out in January. It's just a solid all-arounder. Though I have mine setup more as a climbing bike with shallow depth wheels. Not to mention I really prefer the 0° offset seat post!

Re: Spcycle New Mold SP-R088 Carbon Road Frame I took my R088 on our local Hollywood Sign climb route. It climbed and descended like a champ. Also the 0° setback seat post has made this bike even better with perfect saddle positioning. Seriously, I have zero complaints with this frame. For the price and configuration flexibility is there a better bang-for-buck carbon frameset? You can run electronic or mechanical, setback or no-setback seat post and integrated or non-integrated bars. Plus there's UDH, threaded BSA and standardized 52mm headset bearings.

Maybe there's a reason GCN wanted to trash this frame, because how will big brands compete when affordable frames like this exist?  ;D

Re: Spcycle New Mold SP-R088 Carbon Road Frame Yesterday I hit 1,000 miles (1,600 km) on this frame and I'm still pleased with the purchase. The thing that stands out to me is how well this bike handles. It's not twitchy, but much more responsive than my previous bike, which steered a bit like a truck. Yesterday I had to dodge a pothole in a corner at the last second, which felt effortless. I would have felt like I was wrestling my old bike in that scenario.

It's not as aero as some of the other frames coming out of China these days, but a lot of those frames are also getting a lot more expensive. I consider this frame to be a very good value for the money and chasing better aerodynamics would result in diminishing returns, as far as I'm concerned. Not to say that I'm against anybody else chasing those gains, it's just not my preference right now.

I'm so glad that frames like this exist. Stuff is getting crazy expensive these days, but you don't need to spend a ton of money to have fun on a bike. So far I'm happy with my decision to go this route as opposed to the used market. I got the handlebar/stem size I wanted, the crank length I wanted, lighter wheels than would have come with a used bike, etc.

My next bike will be built for a bike tour and I'll definitely be buying direct from China again.

I have the pleasure of presenting the bike I built for my wife.

Of course, the frame is an SPCycle R088 in size 49 with metallic pink paint (number 9) and a mix of glossy and matte finishes.

The transmission is based on the SRAM Force XPLR AXS E1, except the crankset, which is the standard SRAM Force AXS E1 road version with a single aero chainring from STONE (42T).




And below, the spare list with the different weights (without the peadals, my wife still uses flat pedals  ::) ::))

Thanks for the feedback on the spacer kit.
The kit you purchased looks the same as the one I bought a while back, but mine is more gray in color than matte black, and the finish appears smooth and not "rough" like your kit (see photo).
Since I didn't really like the color combination with the handlebar, I tried ordering a new Ullicyc handlebar with a spacer kit identical to yours and the one I'd already purchased.
However, the "converter" piece through which the cables pass has a "rough" finish, similar to that of your kit (or the MagCad mount I got for my bike computer), while the spacers have a smooth finish... so aesthetically, it's not the best either.
I found the kit you purchased on Aliexpress (see last photo)... if you could confirm that all the parts in your kit have the same finish and that the color is matte black (from your photos, it looks like it, with a very similar shade to the handlebar), I could order it too and return the rest.
I'll take this opportunity to ask you a question: did you use the C-ring or the crown to install the headset?

I can confirm all the parts of that kit have the same finish you see in my photos. I attached all the close-up photos below. Keep in mind, I hadn't actually preloaded the compression plug in these close-up photos; I was just holding it together with hand pressure. I can get other photos/measurements if you have specific needs.

In the kit, you get a metal c-ring and a crown that is plastic. I used the metal c-ring because it seemed smarter to use a metal part for preloading against the bearing. The crown also seemed taller than the c-ring, so you'd likely end up with more of a gap between your frame and headset spacers. However, I never actually installed it to check so I can't be certain.

I can say that everything seems okay using the c-ring. I did a 20 mile ride with it yesterday and didn't detect any weird behavior from the headset.

Re: Spcycle New Mold SP-R088 Carbon Road Frame I've been tweaking my R088 a bit. I swapped out the stock LTwoo calipers for ZTTO (IIIPro) disc calipers mainly for the weight cut. I installed a Cyclami 18t offset lower pulley wheel on my eR9 cage. It allows expanded cassette range without modding the stock cage. I'm currently on a 50-34t/10-33t setup, but I'm entertaining the thought of going 10-36t with the new pulley wheel. Lastly, I swapped my inner small chainring for a 34t oval. I've had such good results with 1x oval on gravel, I wanted to try it on the road bike. I have titanium axles coming as well to cut additional weight. Overall, I still consider this more of a budget build with off-the-shelf AliEx parts.  ;)
