Re: Advice on fake frames I'd like to see humor replica frame brand labels, like Poorfellow instead of Pinarello, Dreck i/o Trek, Dwarf i/o Giant, Generalized i/o Specialized.

Re: Are AliEx/open mold carbon bikes common in your area? I'm italian living in the craddle of bespoke and craftman of bikes
Close to Pinarello, Wilier, Basso and many craftman like Bonetti, Barco, Sarto. I live in the same city of Campagnolo.

With my chinese bike, I'm treated by other cyclist as a criminal...

Re: Another Aethos clone coming soon UDH/T47
Trusting your life to some random aliexpress seller pushing 800g frames is a gamble i don't feel comfortable taking. Imagine it breaks from under you. While you heal from your wounds and remortgage your house to pay for the medical bills, you're like "maybe i should have bought a frame that was 100g heavier, maybe it wouldn't have snapped".
Then again, i'm over 80kg, so i'm not the target audience.
But it's still scary to me. You just dont know who you're buying from.

Brother, I live in America! Stepping out my front door is already a gamble everyday! Bike frames from AliEx are actually the least of my worries!  ;D

Re: Any thoughts on probability of 20% USA tariffs on purchases next year? At least, now you can have cheap eggs.

Sorry, that was very much unnecessary.

Re: Spcycle New Mold G068 Carbon Gravel Frame I've finished building G068 bikes for me and girlfriend.

They came out nice, did few hundred km already and am satisfied :)

Mine is size XL, grx800 1x11/51 (XT SGS RD cage mod), the other one is size XS, MS sword 1x11/48 with tiagra cranks, as sword ones don't come in 165mm, and i had those at hand :)

both ended up in "wee bit under 10kg" and i'm good with it, considering not-so lightweight wheelsets, and plain heavy as hell cassettes on both of them.

Overall build was straightforward, i'm glad i went with the non-fully integrated version. There were some issues with paint overflow over the holes in one of the forks, which made the brake housing routing hard, solved with some rolled sanding paper, also the FM thread in same fork broke, not sure if it was badly made or just my mishap - fixed with helicoil, probably is stronger than before the repair now.

The chameleon paint really catches the eye, especially in good light - i've had numerous folks praising the colour mid-ride, just an added bonus :)

Re: Seraph Bikes Superlight 836g X68 - Alternative to SL8 Fakes?
Thanks for this detailed input, Serge — your take adds a lot of nuance and clarity to the discussion.

You’re absolutely right to draw the line between ultra-light, high-performance, race-day-only frames and the kind of dependable bikes most of us want to ride daily without a second thought. That distinction often gets blurred, especially when people chase weight savings without fully appreciating the compromises that come with it. The comparison to F1 cars is a good one — cutting-edge, but not necessarily built for longevity or the wear and tear of everyday use.

Also appreciate you highlighting the insider view on S-Works and previous Pinarello practices. It’s easy to get dazzled by the marketing and pro endorsements, but reliability often takes a back seat in that world — literally, in some cases, judging by the stories of cracked frames in car trunks.

Unfortunately, I am a bit of a weight weenie myself — however, I don’t sacrifice performance or reliability in pursuit of lower grams. There’s a line, and I do my best to stay on the right side of it.

Your point about friends and trust hit home, too. Ultimately, a frame isn’t just carbon and resin — it represents confidence, responsibility, and safety for the people we ride with.
