The TLDR is that it's extremely frustrating because the hardware is basically perfect, it's fast and responsive, screen is the best I've used by lightyears, but the software isn't there at all. Very limited customization, awful map layer that you can't swap, and the android app is so buggy and bad it warrants the capital punishment for the devs imo.
I'm using the IGS630 as a daily driver but I still haven't sold my C606. I sometimes check if they update the firmware, which has pretty much never happened in 6 months. I used the C606 just last week for a 2 hour ride and it's in still in the same state.
My firmware version is v1.214, I don't know when the update introducing climbpro will drop to the public but I will try it once it drops
It can absolutely become an everything-else killer, but until they purge the dev team PLEASE avoid it.

Re: Magene C606 Bike Computer Dusted it off this week for the bimonthly chance at redemption because I just got a L508 radar (which I'm still unsure about too). I've done 4 rides, all between 1 and 2 hours:
-Might be just luck, but I found the android app to be much less buggy. Paired fast, synced fast, no timeouts. Just an issue syncing to strava but they're not really to blame because strava handles email changes very poorly. Still a nice surprise, the app works.

-Their "climbpro" is a joke. It first needed to be activated somewhere deep in the app. I imported a route from their inapp route planner, which is no komoot but it works on par with the builtin garmin/igpsport/wahoo route planners. I got climb alerts for ghost climbs that didn't exist eg. 400m@7% when the road was fairly flat 1-2% up or down, some climbs were mysteriously split in 2, eg. 0-30% of a consistent 6% climb, then later the last half of it when there was no flat section, climbs that started way too late when I was well into it, and some climbs that kept going when I was actually done climbing.
The "average grade remaining" is also pathetic. It will correctly identify 4km remaining and 250m remaining, but the calculation will be way off and fluctuating. It should be third grader math but it might say 3%, 14%, 6% etc. RNG. How can they fuck this up?

-With four connected sensors, auto brightness (fairly sunny week) and a route loaded, it drains ~8% per hour, but I had one 1h20 ride go from 58 to 19%! In similar conditions, my IGS630 drains 3 or 4% per hour max, despite being older and used a lot more often.

-I still think the hardware is flawless. It's crazy responsive, very readable. It's just the software that sucks.
 If ALL you need to do is stare at data fields and the occasional turn by turn, it's great, but for the money I expect a lot more. I hope the next IGPSport binavi will be good

Do you have the segments starred (and a strava subscription)? Those are 2 requirements for strava segments to show up on gps devices afaik

Re: Rigid fork I think most the AliEx MTB carbon forks are some variation of the Toseek forks. I would just pick the one with the best price on AliExpress. This guy on Youtube tested an AliEx 29er carbon fork on a flight of stairs, plua did a few small bunny hops and it actually survived the test. I think you'll be fine as long as you don't do any massive jumps on your bike.

Re: Rigid fork comparing your frame to my Spcycle frame, the geometries in a medium size are almost exactly the same.

Below are 2 forks I have that I have purchased and have used on this frame when I am not using a suspension fork.   Note:  The forks have different offsets, but I really haven't noticed a difference in handling.  I have used both of them when this bike is configured for bikepacking. 
- These are both 485mm 29er forks.

Re: seaboard/darkrock or others I´m not too sure about all the Models from Seaboard and Darkrock but the ones i´ve seen are not capable of doing more than maybe 47x700c.

You state you don´t want carbon - so is aluminium ok? My best bet for your desire would be a Riverside 920 Touring Frameset from Decathlon (no chiner of course) but a Frameset made pretty much to the specs you want. I own one myself and run 2.25 Schwalbe Thunder Burts front and back with a generous amount of room left - Frame is rated for 2.25 max on the rear and fork for up to 2,4. It also uses 142/100 thru axles as desired.

of course you can always have a look at mtb frames that might hava a conservative / oldschool geo that you might convert into a Gravel/Monstercross - there are plenty options on AliExpress that might work as a base.

If you want to compare / check fitment just have a look at how wide the rear in said riverside Frame is:

Re: seaboard I haven't run into any CT1 builds but I've seen a number of GR02 alloy gravel frames and they look like a good value. Trace Velo also loves his CR05 steel road frame. All the Seaboard frames I've run into use BSA bottom brackets which should work fine with the PES515. Magene claims the 515 was upgraded to clear T47 bottom brackets as well but I haven't seen anyone try that setup yet.

The brakes are the Tektro versions of the TRP Spyres. They're OK but I need to get some better housing. Most of the other parts are from my spares or were purchased cheap.


It's primarily my commuter but it's too much fun to just be transportation.
