After messing up a few times (wrong chainrings, too short chain, realizing I miss parts etc.), I’ve now had 6-7 rides on my new bike. I hope to get the weight down to around 8.5 kg next year. Frame: Size M with integrated bars (380/100 mm) in Pearl White Wheels: Elitewheels Aero+ Gravel (45 mm depth, 32 mm internal width) Group: SRAM Rival E1 13-Speed Crankset: Magene P515 Powermeter Chainring: WolfTooth 46T 110bcd with Drop-stop B BB: Senicx T47 Saddle: Ryet Full build weight: 8.9 kg (with pedals, bottle cages, Wahoo mount etc.) Total cost: ca. 3.000 EUR (with a few tools, titanium bolts etc.) First impressions: This bike is fast! Even though I’ve been without a bike for 10 weeks (and in poor shape), I set a few PRs already. I feel it’s a lot faster on smooth gravel and pavement than my old Grizl CF (Rival XPLR and Zipp XPLR 303S). On rougher terrain, I’m not sure what’s fastest, the Grizl felt a bit more stable. But rough terrain is rare in my area, so I’ll happily take a little beating once in a while. The Rival group is awesome. Coming from the 12-speed version, the brakes are miles better, the hoods are more comfortable and the extra cog on the cassette makes things a little more smooth. I miss my old XPLR 303 S wheelset a little (maybe because it looked cooler), but the Elitewheels are also awesome and a little lighter than the Zipp wheels. Future upgrades: - 48t aero chainring - Lighter pedals (have XTR in stock that needs service) - Pathfinder Pro TLR 45 or the new Caracal Race in 45 - Different handlebar and stem (I need a little shorter reach) (sorry for the non-drive side image - and yes, the direction of the front tire is wrong in the first picture  )

I am more or less at the same point as you. I‘m also searching for a downcountry frame and will chise between the spcycle and the lightcarbon. LCFS980 https://www.lightcarbon.com/lightcarbon-29er-light-xc-full-suspension-carbon-frame-internal-cable-routing_p242.html which has only a rear travel of 90 mm. But lightcarbon has a better reputation than spcycle i think. The Spcycle frame is lighter, but there are reports of broken frames. The LCFS980 is also an original oem design, while the spcycle 868 is an orbea oiz copy and paste. I would also consider the hongfu fm358 but this is also a copycat of canyon lux trail. Fm909 and fm936 are both 120/120 original oem designs. November 25, 2025, 02:28:52 PM |

Hi yall, so I had headset play for 1 year. Tryed little 0.25 mm C-shims as suggested here and also tryed better and longer expander plug (DEDA) without any success. I decided to buy a different Compression C-ring on aliexpress(see picture). Now it works perfectly. I chose the 7.3 mm but maybe the 6.3 mm could have been ok too. Just dont use the C-ring provided with the frame. Chris from Velobuild discarded the issue saying the issue with previous frame was solved few years ago despite many people on this forum with similar issue. I can confirm the new C-ring provided by velobuild with this frameset is not really better. Too stiff maybe. Anyhow, problem solved and can finally ride the bike! July 26, 2026, 08:53:16 PM |

I'd love to order this frame but I'm going to let someone else be a guinea pig for me. The inconsistencies re: geometry are quite worrisome.
