The Different Types of Carbon Fiber and Their Characteristics
Hey guys, new to the forum and for my first post I thought I'd at least try to make it a good one. I had read somewhere on this forum where someone suggested starting a thread like this, and I thought it was a good idea, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I've done a lot of reading on these frames and carbon fiber, in general over the past few months and will attempt to layout the different kinds of carbon fiber, and a few things you need to know about each, below. First of all, you have the outer visible layer that can be in one of three different "weaves" and all three either be matte or glossy. So you ultimately have 6 finishes to choose from. The choice is PURELY cosmetic, one is not better/stronger/lighter than another. You have UD finish, 3k finish, and 12k finish, and like I said, glossy or matte in either of the three. UD Matte  UD Glossy  3k Matte (my personal fav)  3k Glossy  12k Matte  12k Glossy  Will continue in next post with different characteristics of the actual carbon fiber that lies below these outer cosmetic layers. Hi all, in the process of choosing a paint scheme. I don't know who is your sales contact so the answer to your question may depend on your contact person... But in general all of the frames come with a slight black coating. This is Iusually called matte UD. They always give that slight paint to frames because just raw out of the production they would look very rough and they also need to smoothen the surface for the following paint job. So therfore I am a bit puzzled about the standard matte. If you want an exposed carbon structure this will be called raw carbon. And as the frames do have the matte UD they must sand this down by hand again. So it's one of the more expensive paint jobs. But definitely worth it  I have a blue raw carbon 909... and i also sanded my cockpit on my road bike down to the carbon structure and painted it with glossy clear coat on my own. That really upgraded my road bike visually

2 days ago, I placed my first small order via Aliexpress for some drybags I use on my cycling adventures and a wrist brace . All of the items were "Choice" items with a discount coupon on top. I was able to get my items for only 15% more in price than the last time I purchased these items. (Yeah! I only had to absorb 1/2 the cost of our eliminated De Minimus, and new tariffs - AKA TAXES!) OTOH. I would like to purchase a spare MS MTB cassette in order to be able to put it on a spare rear wheel I built up last fall. I checked the price, and the listed price has increased over 60% since my last purchase. After a $15 off coupon and coins, the price I would have to pays is 32% more than I last paid.
