Re: Seraph Bikes Superlight 836g X68 - Alternative to SL8 Fakes? Yes the frame is 58, and the color is indeed purple matte finish. This is what i had in my PDF order confirmation from Tantan: YS9448 i also specified to them that i want this color in matte.  I saw it on one other frame where it was named something purple chameleon on one of the instagram accounts of Tantan.

Zen Carbon Wheels Xiamen Hi everyone,

Wanted to share a bit about a new wheelset I’m having custom built through a lesser-known OEM in Xiamen called Zen Carbon. Thought it might be of interest to anyone exploring beyond the usual big players like XM Carbon Speed or Elite.

Background

I’ve been working with a few OEMs this year. Back in April, I ordered a 60/65mm carbon spoke set from DFS Carbon, which came in at 1230g and has performed really well so far.

I’ve also got a set of 50/60mm carbon spoke wheels on order from XM Carbon Speed — very popular on here and on Weight Weenies. The rims are still in manufacture, but I’ve been told they should be completed this week.

This new set is coming from Zen Carbon, which doesn’t really have any online presence. It’s a small company based in Xiamen, run by Zara and her father.

Why Zen Carbon?

I’ve known Zara for a few years — she was my contact back when I was buying Winspace products (frames, parts, etc.) around the time when Jo Whittingham (of Panda Podium / China Cycling YouTube) was still there. I’ve had access to dealer pricing from Winspace, and Zara was always super helpful. She moved on to Zen Carbon a couple of years ago, and while I hadn’t ordered anything from her since then, I thought I’d give them a try for this build.

   •   Rim depth: 40mm front / 45mm rear
   •   Rim width: 31mm external / 25mm internal
   •   Rim weights:
   •   Spokes: Carbon, 2.1g per spoke
   •   Hub: Zen SL 20H front & rear – 226g total

Pricing
   
   •   Total: $866 USD / ~£670 GBP to the UK

Would love to hear if anyone else has experience with Zen Carbon or the H-Works hubs — or thoughts on using mixed-weight rims like.

Re: New TanTan Aero Frame TT-X65 Long time lurker here. Figured I’d update this thread with my experience.

Ordered an extra small version, plain matte black finish, of this frame April 8th. Shipped out to me and I received early June, according to expected lead times. Packaging was just fine and frame looks good. Clean carbon inside and out. Little bit of overspray on the bb but nothing that can’t be easily cleaned up. Plenty of tire clearance to help try and squeeze in a little comfort in this deep tubed aero frame.

Going to be building up with combo of new rival shifters, 1X Leese carbon crank, and Zen carbon 50/60 wheels. Should come in right around 7 kgs. Hope to finish the build within the next month as I wait for more parts to arrive. Will update then.

Standard 52mm headset bearings, option to go separate bar and stem (or any integrated bar you prefer), UDH, mechanical cable routing option and slightly less weight than the X68. The X68 is for those who specifically want an SL8 clone.  ;)

Though last I checked, getting the Seraph/TanTan X70 (same frame as the R088) is a bit cheaper on AliExpress compared to SPCycle's store front. I'm surprised no one is going for the X70 option. Buying on AliEx is bit more streamlined and at least you have the ability to dispute the order if anything goes wrong.

Liked the head tube shape better than the butt sniffer on the 68.  And really didn't want a bike design copy.

Re: Which Factory Manufactures Ventum and Rose Bikes? Speeder R55D is a lot like my Tavelo Arow. For obvious reasons. But the geometry is a tad different.

A size 560 in the R55D would almost be spot on to my Ventum in a 58/L but just a longer wheelbase by 6mm. And compared to my size 540 Tavelo Arow where I run 15mm of spacers plus a 130mm stem, I could slam a 120mm stem with the R55D to get an identical fit.

Longer wheelbase, better weight distribution, slammed cockpit for steering dynamics, and a less obnoxious stem. The R55D in a larger size might be what I'm looking for as I plan for next year. It's weird the frame has UDH but not T47 though, since anyone needing UDH is almost certainly also using a 29 DUB spindle. BB86 doesn't always play nice with DUB. I just hope the standover height isn't taller than 825. Speeder's website does not provide that data.

I'm 6ft and got a size 56cm with a 120mm stem.
The fit works for me very well I think. Will know for sure tomorrow as I'm going on a faster 100km ride so will have more time in the saddle to gauge how it feels/rides.
