too small? For anyone whose Z2 is around 180-220W, i'd say 53T at least, and preferably 55T. That way you spend more time in the middle of the cassette. Mechanically it's better to have a big ring and be in the middle of the k7. 50T on a TT bike, unless you're 50kg, means you're spending most of your time in the smallest cogs, which you shouldn't. And it looks noob AF. Also, now RDs all handle 32T or more as largest cog, so while it's nice to run a 12-25 because the jumps are small, i think it makes more sense to do 55T with a 11-34, or 11-36. Obviously that's assuming modern equipment with fast tyres, a half decent position and all that. Also from experience, in TT position, a lower cadence feels nicer and more sustainable. I think it's tested faster too. If you're comfortable doing 95 cadence in TT, good for you, but i'm not. A TT is usually about motoring at a sustainable pace, so you want the motoring speed to be in the middle of the cassette, at the most natural cadence for you. Finally finished my VB-TT build. All parts have finally arrived and got the rig set up. This is what it looks like pretty much in race set up (1st race is IM Lanza so front mech needed, but will be removed for flatter races). Made a DIY BTA bottle cage plate from an AliEx carbon plate and a 3 slot bottle age adaptor common in MTBing. The Trek Speedconcept Gen 3 (disc brake) specific downtube bottle doesnt work on this frame as it comes, however I'll find a way to mod the that bottle cage to fit. Nice tool Box, where did you get it from?Self designed and 3d printed. it's still undergoing a revision since I cannot mount a bottle in the frame any more. Velobuild quality & pricing
Hi all, After reading countless threads of many happy customers with chinese carbon frames (I have never bought or even seen one).. I am very intrigued Specifically, I am looking at the Velobuild TT bike (VB-TT-023). Klein Concept on Youtube made an incredible looking bike! I've also seen other on the forum that build up a great looking with this frame... everyone seems to be satisfied.. I just don't get why they could be so much cheaper than other big brands? Is the quality below par? Or is it just a hit an miss with these kinds of purchases? (i.e. or you get a superb bike, or you get a cracked frame) March 17, 2025, 03:24:29 AM |

Velobuild is a good frame. Maybe not the best, but the price can't be beat. Specifically, I'd say: get the frame, get it painted elsewhere. I was happy with everything but the paint job. They even did an RMA on my fork when it developed a hairline crack, around a year after.

Hi! I ordered the VB-TT-023 last year an dI'm very happy with it. I had a problem with the fork, the steerer tube hole was not "drilled enough" to install the expander but they sent me a new fork very fast  I also like the riding feeling, it's more like a road bike than a TT bike... i prefer that (I had the orbea ordu omx before) José. Not a huge fan of TT bikes, but that looks great! What wheels are those? Its a custom wheel build with lightbicycle rims, the model is "Turbo 78", with 25mm internal rim width... very confortable! March 19, 2025, 04:31:16 PM |
