Saving $40 isn't worth questionable performance in a safety system. Buy a garmin. If the $40 matters that much, buy a used Varia. Be happy.

As much as I would love to I refuse to buy any device with micro-usb in 2025.

Should You Buy It?

Ultimately, that’s a decision you have to make for yourself.

The level of risk someone is willing to accept varies. A fork failure is serious, no question. But considering how popular this frame has been since October 2024, and how many are likely out there, the number of publicly reported failures seems very low.

That said, no frame is truly risk-free — branded or not. Yes, we expect major brands to have tighter QC and more consistent testing — and often they do — but failures still happen. You just don’t hear about them as often because they’re handled quietly. I suspect they happen more than we realise.

Personally, I inspect all my bikes and components regularly, whether they’re branded or open-mold. Carbon is carbon — and everything from forks to bars to wheels is safety-critical.

Bigger Picture: The Industry

It’s worth noting that there have been calls for more regulation and transparency across the bike industry. Every carbon part on a bike — not just forks — is safety-critical. Testing like ISO 4210 exists, but there’s no universal enforcement or third-party certification standard that’s consistently applied across all manufacturers, especially in the open-mold space.

Until that changes, it’s up to us as riders to stay informed, ask the right questions, and inspect our gear regularly — no matter what logo is on it.

Re: Beginner paint color questions personally, I would only recommend getting raw if you plan to paint it yourself. getting a clear coat would be a better option if you want lightweight but don't want to paint it yourself. Pigment adds a bit of weight. Some colors weigh more than others, white tends to be the heaviest because it takes the most pigment. I think your 60-100g estimate is probably accurate.

Re: Beginner paint color questions I tried painting a frame once. My prep work wasn't great and I didn't have a temp controlled room to work in. Humidity, temp, and poor prep work lead to a disaster. Learned a lot, but I leave it to the pros now.

Re: Beginner paint color questions I recently just painted two frames. One frame was matte, the other glossy. Matte in general weighs less. Gloss paint is more like a candy coat and is heavier. If you want raw, I'd at least get it with a UD matte clear coat. That will probably be your lightest weight option and the frame should be ready to ride. Raw only with no clear coat is for DIY paint only. It will most likely not be properly sanded and will be quite rough looking.

I don't think I'd ride one of these, regardless of the innovation, technology etc that's gone into developing it.

Can we just have a modern/updated TT frame similar to the Winow and VB TT 23 with the drastic tubing? Would probably generate much more interest

frame seems very sturdy on the frontal area, more than the BB area (but i'm by no means a carbon expert)
fork seems also robust.
love the handlebars design, construction seems ok.
saddle looks comfy, very well finished. can't wait to take it for a ride.
