Re: Tideace NEW Gravel Frame: GR201 I want to say Eddy is the man if you need a bike frame. I ordered my frame on the 3rd of March and it was painted and shipped on Monday and I got it on Wednesday. If that’s not fast service I don’t know what is.  Total 16 days from ordering it to my door.

Re: Good experiences with Aliexpress handlebar tape? I used ESI RCT wrap for a number of years. It's a silicone tape that is smooth but grippy and you can vary the amount of cushion/firmness by how tightly you wrap it. ESI was expensive and they are discontinuing it cause it's getting more expensive to make.

It's textured on one side, but besides that it's very similar. Been a few months and I'm liking it very much.

Paint job (2 colours) was $180. A friend of mine got the same frame with a chameleon effect (looks even better than mine) and that was $120.

I went for a Rival group, but swapped with Force for weight savings (crank set) or looks (cassette and purple chain).

Build was quite easy. The most fiddly bit was routing the brake hose through the handlebar. I'm not the best at that and don't have proper tools for the job.

Keep in mind that the mandatory spacer to hide the brake haves for the integrated handlebar will raise the stack quite a bit.

I went for a 38t. Plenty of space left, but they spec 42t as the maximum.
SRAM XPLR cranksets are always of the "road wide standard) IIRC.

Quality of the frame is very good. BB and head tube area inside is flawless.

The wheels are from Yishun. Have already had 4 other wheelsets of theirs. Mostly with DT Swiss hubs and Sapim CX Ray spokes but since this is a bit of a "budget" build I chose their default setup: unbranded hubs and Pillar spokes.

Yishun branded frames also appear to be manufactured by Lightcarbon, so there is some cooperation between the two.

Re: Seraph Bikes Superlight 836g X68 - Alternative to SL8 Fakes? Finally got mine delivered 11/3 (ordered 8/21). Complete build with Ultegra, size 49 (my height is 165cm) with 380x90 bars, white, with the wavy wheels. Had to cut the seatpost and drill the two holes for the battery holder. Changed the saddle to Ryet ultimate, and the bottle cages that came with it couldn't fit a regular bottle so I replaced them with cages from another bike. Installed a k-edge computer mount and will be using assioma duos for power. Replaced the wavy wheels with yoeleos from another bike, and put the wavy wheels on that bike. So far so good! Tested a quick sprint and it felt fast. Gonna go for a proper ride in the weekend coming. Hopefully all goes well.

What a beautiful bike - the raw carbon gloss finish really is amazing and I’m so glad I went for it.
Bike was so easy to build.

A quick 5 minute test confirmed the bike is solid as a rock and as comfortable as you would ever hope for - the geometry is superb. To be able to climb straight onto a bike and feel instantly comfortable and at home says it all.

Ultegra 8170 is absolutely ridiculous. Silent to the point where I wasn’t even sure I changed gear and so fast across the range.

Weighed in around 7.35kg with pedals which is right on target.

Hope to get an hour out on it tomorrow so hopefully will be able to report back after that, but initial impressions are really, really positive.

Just few first impressions:
  • There is a lot of paint on my frame (520) -> 1125gr with front and rear hanger and box cover
  • Rear brake mounting is not completely flush, i would say it's not flatted after the frame come from the mold
  • The paint around the front brake mounting points looks not so great
  • Paint around the storage box edge looks a bit awful (maybe a bit of sanding to clean it would help)
  • Paint around the top of the headtube has also poor finishing edge
  • Have a bit of yellow paint on the underside of the top tube, don't know yet if it's on or under the clear coat
  • The pouch has a good quality, not a 1€ AliX bag, more like 5-10€ :D
  • The BB looks flatted and has nice clean threads
  • Got a second LC Light UDH in the accessories bag for free :D
  • Handlebar looks superb to me (but only had two AliX cheap ones for comperrison so far)
  • The storage box cover is made from aluminium, at least it feels like metal and not plastic

Overall I'm surprised by the quality of the frame, the paint job was a bit difficult due to the two/three layers of paint for the crystal blue effect and the edge to the white parts.
By sides the few edges mentioned above the paint job looks great, no "bad" edges from blue to white on the whole frame/fork.

Will take few pictures from the inside with my 3€-HD-endoscopy-cam the next days.

And i have to figure out how to remove the red color on my tires...
