Re: SPCycle G028 new gravel frame with 57mm tires clearance
Hello everyone,

I got my G028 frame a week ago and today when I tried to put a seatpost in I encountered a problem. The seatpost couldn't go down the seat tube because the hole was too narrow.

I reached out to Spcycle (who responded almost immediately) and they told me to sand it down to help the seatpost go down. Problem is after a bit of sanding the hole was still too narrow. They suggested to sand it heavily as this area is really sturdy and there is a lot of material. After quite a lot of sanding with a coarse sandpaper I got the seatpost to fit (still really tight). But now one of the area I sanded has no visible carbon anymore (see pics).

What's your suggestion ? Is it ok or not ? Spcycle told me to use the frame with confidence but I rather have some other opinions.

Thanks for your help.

Without defending SPCycles obviously poor manufacturing and QC, I think the frame is good to ride without any worries.
Also: better a tight fit for the seatpost than a slippery fit ;)
