Re: LTK266-D-SL, allroad race frame, 680g bare, <800g w/paint and accessories (M)
I bet the Aethos has a comfier ride. Resell value is incomparable, as is support from Specialized dealers.
But at double the price even with a spendy retail buy of new Force, it's an object lesson in the value proposition of these open molds, at least to me.

EDIT: I wrote all this froth, but really let's just think about the frameset: $3,499 before taxes https://www.specialized.com/us/en/aethos-2-frameset-fact-10r-carbon/p/4221561?color=5446330-4221561 versus the LTK

I've been using this bike as my around-town bike as well as doing some longer rides on it. I still think it's worthy of the froth.

With most of the cheaper frames I've had or ridden over the years, even the small brand versions of open molds, I've always had a sense of what I was giving up compared to the top frames of their type. In many cases, it was tangible (e.g., weight, part compatibility) or revealed itself while riding (e.g., an overly stiff ride, a lack of composure over rough roads, awkward handling at the limits). With this frame, I'm unsure what I am giving up vs. other light or even all-around road bikes. I think I am giving up some aero, but I'm not sure, and evaluating it when the bikes have different geometries is tough. Yet, I am gaining the ability to run wider tires.

They Sakizashi,
Why do you think the failed Mondince indiegogo campaign isn't helpful?

The size availability is a huge downside for the 266SL. If LTK is aware of Mondinice's campaign and they need 50+ orders to open an XL, I don't see that happening unless a brand steps in and commits to volume, in which case we might lose access to the frame. Creating the XL mold for the Chinese market for Permeants and Tideace appears to be a significant risk to take, with limited upside. 5 people asking isn't going to move the needle.

Thak you for yuor work!!
What are the thru axles like? Is it worth ordering them with the frame, or can you get something better for a similar price?

I am pretty sure this bike is using a UDH thru axle on the rear, paired with a Giant TCR / Defy front. It's rather challenging to find an aftermarket front only unless you are getting into the expensive lightweight stuff or are buying spares from Giant.

You can do what I am doing, which is use a flat axle washer on a 118mm or 120mm thru axle to make it the right size.

Re: LTK266-D-SL, race frame, 680g, <800g w/paint & metal parts (M), fits 35mm+ tires Hi guys,

I got word from Alisa at Long Teng and also from Mondince that the size XL will be available in February / March  ;D

I am about to order one, but I want to run conventional handlebar / stem combinations with my trusty 360/400mm flared bar. Alisa told me that semi integrated cable routing through the headset cover would be possible, but they do not have anything available for that. Has anyone built the frame with a conventional stem? If so, which headset upper did you use?

Thanky

Hi,

I'm trying to plan ahead and order miscellaneous bits and pieces for a smooth build when the frame arrives.
There's a lot of good info on the updated first post, but im missing some details, i hope you who have the frame can provide some more details :).

a) Length of rear caliper bolts or thickness of the chainstay at the caliper mounting point
b) Dimension of saddleclamp bolt (thread and length)

Merry Xmas

a.) I used 32mm bolts with my Hope calipers. Should be the same for SRAM.
b.) Saddle clamp bolt is an m6 x 55mm.

Re: LTK266-D-SL, race frame, 680g, <800g w/paint & metal parts (M), fits 35mm+ tires Received the frame today. Everything has made it over safely it seems.
Payment was made 09/12/2025, Alisa said they had a size Small frame in stock, unpainted. I chose for it to be painted transparent black glossy.
Paid USD $849 including PayPal fee, no customs to pay on delivery.

We spoke about the headset issues that other people had had, and she assured me that “that was a long time ago”, however I only received two bearings, a lower crown split ring for the fork (which I don’t think I need) and an expander plug. I’ve only ever built one other bike (Elves Falath Pro disc), and I’m assuming I’ll need to source a top C-ring to reduce the top bearings circumference, and that will make up the remaining stack height, as at the minute, both ends of the head tube have the bearings sitting below the tube, about a 3mm lip.

I bought the Tavelo Avro Gen-1 handlebars with ACR compatibility and those don’t come with the C-ring either.

The seat post clamp cover isn’t the best looking as it overhangs the seat tube and top tube junction.

All in all though everything else seems really good and clean. I’ll keep updating as I go.

Re: LTK266-D-SL, race frame, 680g, <800g w/paint & metal parts (M), fits 35mm+ tires Alisa sent me a photo of the axles and I'm wondering why they design an ultra-light frame and then sell lead axles with it 🤮

Re: LTK266-D-SL, race frame, 680g, <800g w/paint & metal parts (M), fits 35mm+ tires Hi!

Inspecting the frame, I feel some sharp edges on the chainstays. Is this finish normal  in that area?

And there are also some loose fibers around the head tube. Has anyone else noticed this?

Thanks!
