Hello to all foristas! I come today to share my new Gravel project with Chinese frame. Choice of the frame: I was between the meinier grl15 and the Spcycle g026. Both around 5000 with taxes and freight. Both weigh 1200g Characteristics of meinier: -Clearance 57mm -435mm from Chainstay -80mm bbdrop Advantages of Spcycle -Clearance 51mm -425mm of chainstay 75mm bbdrop Both with more than 620mm in size 54, without toeoverlap for 2.2 tires. I chose SpCycle. When studying about it, I discovered that geometrically it is identical to the Mondraker Arid, with a front travel fork ready geometry. Aesthetics is similar too, but it is not an identical copy. This frame is manufactured by mondice in models 326, with Mondraker geometry and 316, with a bizarre geometry (in mathematically incoherent, by the way) thanks to a 395mm fork. Mondice is the factory, Spcycle only resells, this is clear. After being the topic and the geometries, I had an idea: the 316 is too aggressive, the 326 is quite conservative. Wouldn't it have a middle ground? Before deciding how to customize the geometry of the frameset, I looked for some references: Crux 5, was the target I chose. Crux characteristics: 78mm of bbdrop (it's a lot, but with tires between 38 and 56 the height of the central is good. I decided that this was the maximum I could do to "lower" the bike, "my" geometry will be ok from 38 to 51mm. According to the proportion of ~33% of relationship between a2c and bbdrop, I came to the conclusion that changing the original fork for another 1cm smaller (from 42 to 41) would result in a more aggressive geometry possible respecting the 78mm of bbdrop. Choice of fork: They had some options of 41cm in the ali... I opted for the one with clearence for 2.4, 41cm, the largest possible rake to avoid toe overlap and reduce the trail so that, even with long between axles, the steering is very agile. I bought the Fkg40 from Winowcycle (manufacturer/factory) for 950 with taxes and shipping. The pieces are on the plane... Would you guys trust Mondince to do a quite intricate decal job? I've got some decals I want on the frame, but I'm not sure if I should order a frame without clear coat and do the decals myself. Hi everyone, I finally completed my custom gravel project and just came back from a very successful 40km shakedown ride. I wanted to share the build details and some feedback on the Mondince FM316 frame. This Mondince build is actually my very first experience riding a fully rigid bike with zero suspension! 😅 I have to admit, I was completely surprised by the snappiness and the immediate reactivity of the bike. Coming from heavy, plush mountain bikes, the power transfer here is just insane. The frame is super stiff laterally and feels like an absolute rocket when sprinting out of the saddle. Despite having no suspension, the clearance for the 48mm Tufo tires acts as a great cushion, making it a real tank on rough trails, while the carbon EliteWheels keep it incredibly lively. The build is complete (for now), and I'm very pleased with everything. – no major paint defects (only very minor little things here and there, but totally fine) – no major hassle with the slight overspray at the brake mounts. I just used a flat file and made it flat in about 20 seconds. (the mounts are perfectly flat, it's just the little paint / clear coat overspray that is problematic when mounting your brake calipers. – no issues with the bottom bracket threads or the seat post, everything went smooth I used a mix of used and new parts, to keep the budget as low as possible (the goal was a beater gravel bike, oh well ...) I tried my friend's FM316 size M (I am 180 cm, long legs). While I mostly liked how the bike felt on the road (need 10-20 mm extra reach) it feels smaller than I expected and when I go off-road it feels the weight distribution is off - too much pressure on the handlebar which may result in excessively nervous technical descends. The dilemma is, 420 fork will make the bike too relaxed and the 395 is way too low for me. The 405 fork from FM 346 should provide intermediate position with sufficient stack yet decent HTA that I really liked. Luckily, Jack was very cooperative and we made a deal for FM326 size L plus extra fork from FM346. Will see how it plays out... August 06, 2026, 02:22:24 AM |

Hello everyone! I ordered from their website at the end of May and I just got it. I asked for a custom paint and the result is good (but not perfect). Overall quality seems good, also considering the price. The fork also looks in a good shape. Back again, this time sharing the final build and a few notes after putting some rides on it (400km). I had quite a bit of trouble with the headset setup. The stock configuration just wouldn’t preload properly no matter how many times I tried to adjust it. In the end, I solved it by mixing parts: Deda (top cover + expander) together with some Kocevlo components. Now everything is solid and smooth. One small thing I noticed: when I fully stretch my legs, I sometimes touch the seat stays. It’s more of a habit/body positioning thing than an actual issue, and not a dealbreaker at all, but worth mentioning. On the ride side, I feel very confident on the bike. The handling suits me well, stable but still responsive. I can comfortably ride no-hands, which I couldn’t really do on some other frames I tried with different geometries. Overall, pretty happy with how this build turned out.
