Re: Tideace NEW Gravel Frame: GR201 TanTan GR201 (size 54) — White “stormtrooper” build

Inspired by the other GR201 builds, I also went with a white gloss paintjob for the stormtrooper look. Cost is ~€3.5k and the bike should land around 8.2 kg with pedals, cages, and sealant (haven’t weighed the complete bike yet — my scale is borrowed).

Rider / fit
178 cm / 70 kg. Size 54 fits me very well with a 100 mm stem and 80 mm handlebar reach; I might try a slightly shorter stem for snappier handling.

Spec highlights (Full build in PDF)
• Frameset: GR201 size 54 — frame 1,272 g; fork 392 g; axles 66 g; headset 128 g.
• Cockpit: Lexon UNOX 400×100 integrated bar/stem — 344 g (needed a few spare spacers to mate nicely with the headset).
• Seatpost: Elita One MT05 — 141 g.
• Crankset Leese C01 160 mm cranks (373 g) + PassQuest 44T (105 g);
• Drivetrain: AXS mix — Apex HRD levers (477 g), Rival HRD calipers (190 g), Red XPLR RD (378 g), Red chain (247 g), XG-1391 cassette (287 g).
• Wheelset: Elitewheels Edge Gravel 2.0 — 1,284 g.

Ordering & frame details

• Included: headset + both thru-axles.
• Paid via PayPal F&F. Final price from TanTan incl. shipping/taxes: USD 729.
• Notes on quality out of the box: paint is OK but not boutique; some overspray on flat-mounts; mounts a bit flaky. BB shell was clean.

Quick notes after the build
• Coming from a 2020 Diverge X1 (40 mm clearance with 40 mm Thundero tires), this is a big step up for comfort, grip, and tire volume.
• 160 mm cranks are great — I won’t go back to 170+ mm.
• The new SRAM Red 1×13 (10–46) shifts nicely, but I’ll probably revert to a 10–50 Eagle for better climbing range. (I wish there was a 1x13 10-52 option yet)
• There’s ample room for a larger ring — 48T, possibly even 50T, though 44 is good enough for most gravel descents where I live.
• Paint finish is so-so; bolt mounts a bit flaky. Flat-mount faces were oversprayed and not very flat; still working on rotor alignment and may need more careful sanding.
• The Lexon cockpit feels good; took a bit of tinkering and extra  spacer/adapter to get the interface right.

Conclusion
At ~€3.5k this is incredible value: essentially best-in-class drivetrain, ultralight wheels, Favero power meter pedals, and clearance for proper wide tires — all wrapped up in a sub-8.2 kg package. The only real complaints are that the frame itself is on the heavier side compared to the rest of the build, and the integrated storage feels a bit unnecessary to me.

Re: Tideace NEW Gravel Frame: GR201 It's been a while, but I'm finally back with my finished build. After posting my story with the problem I encountered with my front wheel from elitewheels, they shipped me a new one while I was on vacation in Austria. A bit of a bummer I wasn't able to take the gravel bike with me, but the roadbike did just fine. After coming back yesterday, I completed my build. Also going tubeless for the first time, still unsure about tire pressures, as I'm running 2.2" in the front and 2.0" in the rear. Silca tyre pressure calculator suggested 1.4 bar in the front and 1.6 bar in the rear, don't know if I should go lower, but anyway - here's my full build:

frame: ordered from Tideace, size 54, color 58, with all mounts (I'm 178cm tall with an 88cm inseam)
handlebar: Lexon thin line (because I don't like the extreme flare the unox have), 400x80
groupset: Wheeltop EDS GX, carbon version
crankset: Riro carbon with 46t
BB: Ztto
wheels: Elitewheels Edge Gravel HOOKED 45, tubeless with Silca sealant and Ridenow valves
cassette: Ztto 11-50 11 speed
chain: Shimano 11 speed, waxed
saddle: Ryet 3D printed honeycomb
bottle cages: from a brand called HUALONG (but I'm sure these are sold under any other brand)
tyres: Continental Raceking 2.2" front, 2.0" rear
disc rotors: VXM in 160

I've spent some time calculating and checking my size, before cutting down the steerer. I'm really glad with my fit, did my first 50k testride, everything seemed good. The gearing seems good for my purposes, I can handle most inclines so far and I don't think I'm missing on speed when I'm descending. I've replaced every bolt I'm currently not using with nylon bolts I've found on aliexpress. I was first hesitant which groupset I should use - either Ltwoo gravel or Wheeltop - but someone, I think either gloscherrybomb or Uberflo - recommended the Wheeltop one because of the bigger cassette. I'm glad for choosing the Wheeltop one, because I really like the ergonomics of the shifters. I also tried flaring in the shifters for the first time, to see how much the difference is. That will be decided within the next few weeks, when I'm able to get some more km's in.

In conclusion: I really enjoyed my ride today, the bike feels like a weapon. Even on flats you are able to hold some speed, even though I have these chunky tyres mounted. I loved climbing and my gear range seems enough so far. I love how much of a difference this is in comparison to my roadbike. I'm really looking forward to tommorow's ride and the next few in the upcoming weeks. Thanks for everyone who contributes on this topic!

Re: LightCarbon Gravel LCG074-D Micro Suspension Pivot Design If I pull the front brake, I can feel and hear that the shaft of the fork moves a bit.

Until now, I haven't investigated in detail the reason behind this movement.

With a different bike, I had the same behaviour and I could eliminate the movement by tighten the ahead cap.

The total weight with pedals and all the cages and mounts is about 8.5 kg. However, the wheels are quite heavy at 1700+ grams. Planning to build two other sets for road and gravel. Must be close to 8 kg with the road rubber and still about 8.5 kg with some fatties.

The total price is a little more than $1900, except wheels, tires and pedals, which I already had. Most of the components (except chain, tires and pedals) are from Aliexpress, Taobao and other Chinese marketplaces.

I'm 177 cm with 81.5 cm inseam, and size 54 frame with 8 cm stem fits perfectly.

Thanks to everyone on this topic for tons of useful info. And thank you @KopytoNieBladzi for the color scheme inspiration. The handlebar tape might seem a little bit odd on the photos, but it looks so much better in real life, in combination with blue brakes and bolts. Some other blue accessories are already in the shopping cart.

Some component notes:

The ultralight (303 g) 9-51t cassette works flawlessly so far. Had to screw in the tension bolt a little bit more to tension the chain properly on the 9t cog.

P515 crankset requires 2 mm of spacers to fit on the frame. It would work with 1 mm too, but some sand and dirt can cause rubbing. I also added 1 mm spacer on the left crank for balance. There is enough crankshaft length for that.

At first I bought a 44t chainring with 3 mm offset (Wuzei), but it didn't fit. The space between the chainring and a chainstay was a little bit more than 1 mm (with 2 mm of spacers on the crank). I ended up with 40t no-offset chainring.

ZRACE brakes work well but don't blow my mind, considering that this is 4-piston brakes on (kind of) road bike. The pads are squeaking as hell, will change them.

I have just build up my Mondince F316, and Jack from Mondince was kind to include an extra storage bag, a spacer for 160 mm front rotor, and headset, spacere and a lot of spares, like additional clams for the saddel and for oval saddel. I had a mechanic friend build it up, and he said that the "spares" included was great a several extras. So just wanted to share my experience. I just had my first ride on it yesterday, 32 km i really muddy conditions (as the snow just have left Denmark in the past weekend). But first impression is great :)

I already have a purpose built fast bike.  Wanted an excuse to try 13spd and wanted build something that I can ride in wet, muddy weather, year round.  Will probably pull double duty as commuter bike too.

The FM336 looks better but… it would almost be the exact same geo as my dedicated road bike.  My lower lumbar is herniated so, switching to a more endurance style frame should give me some relief.

Re: Tideace NEW Gravel Frame: GR201 Finally got my tideace on the road today for a quick blast to bed the brakes in. Weighs in at ~8.5kg with cages, pedals and computer mount which I was quite impressed with. Build was pretty straight forward, worst part was the supacaz tape that has no stretch or give - never again. I'll stick to my normal Prologo plaintouch next time. I also had to chuck the seatpost that came with the frame as it was a fraction too wide and wouldn't fit in the seat tube, even with some light sanding.

Re: Mondince new 2026 Aero Gravel Build almost finished, although I still need to tweak shifting and brakes a bit.

Coming from mostly riding XC full suspension bike (FM936) I can say that this bike truly feels great and does not sacrifice too much comfort. I have mostly ridden it fast so far so that also helps.

Size L matte pink frame was bought from SPCycle via Aliexpress to take advantage of January sales. Same for Tagoola XPLR wheelset, Elita One Master seatpost, Toseek TKR02 barstem. Drivetrain is a bit mix since I used already owned Shimano 105 di2 and read in https://weightweenies.starbike.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=175217 that it works with 10-45 cassette. Coupled it with Force E1 crankset, KEOS 46t ring and ZRACE XG4 calipers due to wanting a bit more power and bling.

I am currently running Schwalbe R PRO 50mm which measures around 52.7mm on wide rims and this is really comfy and quite fast setup.

Some comments:
- I requested SPCycle to have fork without rivets, but they did not provide. Had to file exit for rear brake slightly and the painting inside internal storage will have to be adjusted, but otherwise it went smoothly
- Toseek barstem was very easy to route to and feels and looks really good. It's 380/120 but might be on slightly longer side.
- Shifting was ok on the stand initially, I adjusted the limit screws to improve it as the sound was slightly off in some middle gears and this end up making RD to not want to switch to biggest (easiest) cog on the cassette. Will need to work on this further, so far I have ridden it as 11sp 46x10-40
- Rear braking seems to lose pressure during the ride. It might be that I did not screw the calipers access bolt tightly enough and there was a bit leakage. To be confirmed.
- Disregard the position of right shifter, it was not torqued strongly enough and moved out of position during some rough patch
