The 425mm CS and not ‘too slack’ HTA is part of the philosophy of the entire design. It is, pun not intended, ‘by design’. Yes: lots of clearance, but not at the cost of making it a sluggish (boring?) bike. It should still be fun to ride. And with around 66mm trail for all sizes, it should still have very good stability when going fast / descending etc. On 1x vs 2x: in my mind 1x is the way to go for gravel, as the industry is moving towards it for gravel anyway. See for example the new Crux that will - allegedly - be only 1x. I wouldn’t have mind if the frame would have been only 1x tbh. If you’re on 2x I think it’s fair to wait for the real world clearance. I see we're still frantically clinging to the myth that a slightly longer RC [...] makes bikes sluggish ... Myth? Tell me you've never jumped or wheelied without telling me you've never... Anyway, the chances this frame can clear any reasonable amount of mud or debris with a 55mm tire at the rear is nil, with that RC. It'll be bad with a 50mm. A Lauf Seigla has 425mm chainstays. As does an Ari Shafer in the smallest size. I guess you can argue those bikes can't clear a 55 with sufficient mud, but then you're working with a different definition of tire clearance than everyone else. April 13, 2026, 02:05:15 AM |

I'd wait a bit until manufacturers find the sweet spot of geometries for these wheels. Unless you're looking for newest, shiniest toy as soon as it is released, there's no china frame that would clear 32" wheels yet.

No CeramicSpeed bearings?! How will I deal with the inertia of much heavier, metal bearing balls in my poor-person headset? Also, love that your 'cure' for boring frames on the marker is Chinese brands making knock offs of an existing, popular (as soon as they ship) frame

56.8mm tire fits easily at the rear. About 6-7mm clearance. 46T fits. Spacers as per Bikone BB manual (6mm DS). Chainline around 49mm. At 47.5mm it will be quite close. Don’t think you’ll manage a 48T with a 47.5mm chain line. If you’ll stick to 49mm… maybe yes. That’s a 6mm allen key between CS and tire. Unfortunately the 2.4 tires I have are a PITA to mount. Just out of curiosity what's your average and max speed in those races. Also what is your average cadence? Thanks! For instance world champs in Belgium, the one in the Netherlands, UCI gravel in Turnhout (BE), Aachen (De), Valkenburg (NL): All between 35-39km/h and about 87 cadance average using a 50T chainring.
