Re: Zen Carbon Wheels Xiamen
Good Day Chinertown Forum Members, I hope everyone is well. Following my post from 27th November, I’m pleased to share an update on our new Zen VaporLite Extreme Ultralight Rim. We now have the first production sample of the 50 mm VaporLite rim. VaporLite 50 mm Rim • Estimated weight: 330 g • Actual production weight: 326.6 g (Production photo link attached) https://ibb.co/2YYy1J3N https://ibb.co/TqLSfLr1 The VaporLite rims can also be purchased separately, ideal for custom builds or if you prefer your own hub and spoke combination. This rim continues to support our 120 kg rider/load limit, which is higher than many popular ultralight options currently on the market. Re: Lightcarbon: LCR018-D (endurance all-road)
Funny that, the previous bike fits I’ve had over 30 years all pretty much agree within a mm or so. They were carried out I’m multiple countries, using multiple systems. That’s why I usually suggest a free MYvelofit assessment on a turbo trainer. As not everyone can see a fitter in person. Or do nothing and post your height and inside leg measurement and hope for the best. May 02, 2026, 02:10:40 PM |

Re: Lightcarbon: LCR018-D (endurance all-road)
After a bit more than 3 months, I received my new LCR018-D today. Order Process 26.01.26 - Order placed, size 50 with 380x100 handlebar (estimated shipping mid-March) 04.03.26 - Asked for an update → Frame still waiting for painting 19.03.26 - Asked again for an update → Was told there would be a 25-day delay because of my "special" paint job, which can only be done by one team 14.04.26 - Asked again for an update → Received pictures of the finished frame 15.04.26 - Frame was shipped 22.04.26 - Received my DPD tracking number (after asking again) 04.05.26 - Delivered to me (Germany)
All in all, the process was an okay experience—not good, not bad. There is definitely room for improvement, especially since the communicated lead times seem unrealistic. Packaging & Delivery Packaging was amazing—I've never received a bike so well protected! Delivery took about 2.5 weeks, which is within the estimated range for shipping to Germany. However, it was a surprise, as my DPD tracking still shows the package in transit. It seems it got a new tracking number once it arrived in Europe (although even the new tracking number doesn't show that it was delivered today) ![]() I'm not sure if LC could have done anything about this (not sure if they were informed about the new tracking number), but I think it's worth mentioning. Frame Impression The frame feels and looks excellent. The visible carbon surfaces inside seem very smooth. The storage lid feels premium and not as bad as you might expect from reading this thread (however, I cannot confirm or deny how it behaves on the road yet). The lever has a satisfying click when you close it completely (maybe some people didn’t fully close it?). Paintjob I decided to go for deep ocean blue with glittering gold decals. This combination had the potential to look amazing, but if done wrong or if the colors were off, it could also look bad. I was positively surprised when I first saw the frame. The combination looks perfect—the glittering gold is slightly on the yellow side with very fine glitter (see my attached pictures). You can only see the glitter when looking closely; it's not "too much" in my opinion (feared it could be). Very happy with my decision. The quality of the paint job looks very good as well. There is some minor overspray at the fork caliper mounts, but nothing to worry about. What's coming next Today I coated the frame and fork with ceramic coating (Dynamic Secret Surface) and will build it the next day (main specs: Shimano 105 Di2, Elitewheels Edge 3.0, Continental GP5000 STR 32mm, Magene P515 power meter). As this is my first road bike (after MTB and gravel), I'm really excited to test it as soon as possible

Re: Zen Carbon Wheels Xiamen
Can you give more information about the impact test. The VaporLite II has been designed to offer different performance levels depending on rider priorities, while maintaining high impact resistance across the range. We currently offer three layup options: Extreme Ultralight * Rim weight: 350 g * Rider weight limit: 120 kg * Impact test rating: 110 J Race Layup * Rim weight: 380 g * Rider weight limit: 120 kg * Impact test rating: 110 J Heavy-Duty Layup * Rim weight: 410 g * Rider weight limit: 130 kg * Impact test rating: 120 J The impact rating is determined using a controlled vertical drop impact test on a fully built and tensioned wheel, with no tyre, inner tube or tubeless tyre fitted. A weighted impactor is dropped directly onto the bare rim, making this a particularly demanding test because there is no tyre to absorb or dissipate any of the impact energy. The impact energy is measured in joules (J). To put these figures into context, many premium ultralight carbon road rims on the market are typically tested to around 90–100 J, while the UCI minimum impact requirement for wheel certification is 40 J. Even the lightest VaporLite II layup exceeds those figures, while the heavy-duty version achieves an even higher impact resistance. Rather than producing a single rim, we’ve developed three different layups so riders can choose the balance that best suits their needs—whether that’s the lowest possible weight, race performance, or maximum rider weight capacity and impact resistance. Re: Zen Carbon Wheels Xiamen
At 110 J, what are the pass criteria? Does the wheel show no visible cracking or delamination and remain within specified radial and lateral runout limits? Also, what impactor shape and padding are used? I am trying to understand whether the 110 J figure is directly comparable with the ISO/UCI wheel-impact test and what condition the wheel remains in after the impact. sorry for all the questions. I'm really interested in purchasing a vapour lite II wheelset. The VaporLite II wheel uses the same vertical impact test standard as the UCI. The test is carried out on a fully built and tensioned wheel with the tyre removed. Test parameters: ● Impact energy: 110 J (±5%) ● Impact striker: Flat steel anvil fitted with a 20 mm silicone pad ● Striker mass: 6–10 kg, with the drop height adjusted to achieve 110 J of impact energy ● Impact location: 90° from the valve hole, between two spokes ● Number of impacts: One Pass criteria: ● No visible cracking or delamination of the rim. ● Radial and lateral runout must not change by more than 1.0 mm after the impact. I hope that helps, but if you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. June 27, 2026, 07:10:44 AM |
