Re: Shimano di2 groupsets from aliexpress Rakuten is a shopping rewards company. You install their browser extension, allowing you to get discounts when you shop at certain sites. You will save tons of money, making you rich beyond belief. In return, the extension will syphon the entirety of your private data, which Rakuten will sell to anyone who is interested, including your current employer, who will not give you a promotion on the grounds that you have a weird fetish for skin-tight clothing. You will remain eternally impoverished.

Re: Thinkrider PP5 power meter I've tested another PP5 as someone sent me an unopened PP5.

Notes:
- Firmware v1.8.6 installed.
- PP5 was charged ~80% but needed to be fully charged again after installing the update.
- Installed with every bolt/etc to spec.
- PP5 meter was tested with Assioma PRO RS-2 (indoor and outdoor) and NEO 3M smart trainer (indoor).
- After one of my first peak power sprints the PP5 read low (this occured with the first PP5 and C10 I've tested)
- Following sprints (not all of them) caused the PP5 to over-read (same as with the first PP5 I tested). Residual torque issue remains.
- PP5 power data was inconsistent across three tests (2hrs outdoors. 1.5hrs total from two indoor sessions).
- When stopping to manually zero the PP5, it'd then line-up with the other baselines. Doing this three or more times per ride, after any hard effort isn't great.

ThinkRider initially responded (to someone else asking about my testing) with:

"Our tech team has tested it, and the issue isn't that serious. It's probably an installation problem on his end."

It wasn't an installation issue. And I've now proven (with data!) issues with this hardware exist on TWO PP5 units, and these issue persist after installing their latest firmware update (as of April 24th 2026).

The latest communication I've had from ThinkRider is that they HAVE replicated this issue and will work to resolve it in "next products". My testing and results have been validated by the manufacturer. The unit has issues. This isn't ideal for anyone who owns a PP5, but it's one step towards them having an excellent power meter on the market at an excellent price point.

I'll loop back here again when I have more information. I'll try meet with them in Shanghai at China Cycle in a few weeks.

Re: Lightcarbon: LCR018-D (endurance all-road)

Planning on ordering the frame in raw carbon with glossy clear coat. I want the LC logo in shiny silver. When I asked about this finish Chloe at LC told me that she can provide me with a sticker but I need to apply it. If I wanted them to apply it it was an 250$ extra. Was it the same for you guys ?

Unfortunately the laser silver sheats are quite expensive I can understand them not wanting to swallow that cost themselves. What they had offered me was a discount on the laser silver because another person had also ordered laser silver at the same time.

Two peoples stickers at once are more efficient then seperatly, since you can arrange them to take up as little sheat as possible when cutting.

If you're not in a rush maybe ask them to notify you if someone else also wants the laser silver decals so they can combine them and give both of you a bit of a discount.

Re: Serenade 4550 Wavy Wheelset SUB 1200g steel spokes 500USD Don't go ceramic bearing unless it is Ceramicspeed.

For 30/32 mm tires choose something with 25 mm internal width.

I mean they offered me the logo stickers free of charge they just don't want to apply it (if yes 250 USD extra like a custom paint). I would have to do it so I think I'm gonna go that way anyway and maybe not even stick them who knows ? I also like the full raw carbon no logo look.

My guess: that's a "no" in Chinese language towards applying the holo decals for you.
Take that decals if they are for free and apply them on your own. For matching heights on both sides of the frame you only need to attach a elastic band ... it pulls itself more or less straight if it's not too sticky.

What is the exact reference of the wheelset ? Is it the C53DB in 50 mm depth ?

Re: Lightcarbon: LCR018-D (endurance all-road)
Finally finished my LCR018 in black and silver tones.

Components:
•   Frame in size 54 raw carbon glossy finish with inframe storage
•   HBR17 handlebar (400 * 100 mm)
•   Serenade wheels, Model TAR50WS (25 mm inner 31 outer), 50 mm deep, SR278C Hubs
•   30 mm Michelin MICHELIN Pro 5 with TPU tubes
•   105 di2 groupset, 11-34 T 12 speed cassette, direct mount for rear derailleur
•   Basic Gineyea BB
•   Magene TEO with 170 mm carbon crank arm and Passquest 50-34 T
•   160 mm VXM rotor in front, 140 mm in the back
•   Cheap bottle holder (that I might change because it hinders the opening mechanism of the storage door), cheap bar tape and cheap rear lamp all from aliexpress
•   Ryet 3D saddle
•   Onirii carbon pedals

Build was quite straight forward nothing too complicated. I did use foam sleeve tubes for the brake hose.
8.5 kg as pictured (with pedals, wahoo and all my repair kit in the frame).

I did a small test ride. There is a small rattle sound but I feel it comes from the inner storage, I need to investigate. No seatpost or saddle slippage (I did put anti slip carbon grease though). My only complaints is the saddle bolts that are so difficult to tighten and the gap between the frame and the first spacer. That glossy finish is also quite fragile I already have some scratches due to chain drops or small shocks when building the bike. Finally I might redo the bleeding on my Shimano brakes because I feel the feeling can be improved.

I might change for a lighter cassette and also the saddle but other than that it is pretty much spot on.
This looks so good you have convinced me to get this for my next frame in chameleon purple/green

I am just a little bummed about the weight of these builds. I am hoping to stay under 7.5 kg with 2x, an electronic groupset and 32c tires. Will def have to be picky with stuff like bars, saddle, cranks/cassettes etc....

Re: Lightcarbon: LCR018-D (endurance all-road) along with the greasing the seatpost clamp sliding parts (and carbon past on the friction parts of the seatpost) to prevent post slippage, probably the next recommended thing every LCR018 owner with downtube storage should do is add a thin layer of stereo wire tape to the edges of the downtube storage door.  i even put a tiny piece under the upper tab to take away any vibration.

v3's latching mechanism, closed in the down position, shouldn't let the cover shake loose and come off, but the additional tape just takes up the minor amount of slack between the door and frame and reduces rattling noises over uneven pavement (or in some folks' cases flex in the frame).  the door should come that way from the factory.  maybe LC should consider a v4...

Hello all,

500 km into my build and, like many other people, I have a creaking / squeaking sound. Every time I went above 200 W, the sound appeared with every pedal stroke.

I replaced the stock Gineyea BB with a SRAM one. It did reduce the noise a bit, but the squeaking was still there. I tried multiple things, and today I finally found the culprit: it is the door of the storage compartment.

Even though I have the v3 door, my guess is that under high power, the downtube flexes slightly and the door rubs against it.

Anyway, for anyone experiencing a creaking sound, try cycling without the door. It was very obvious in my case. I will try putting some tape all around the edges of the door and see if it improves the situation.

I have exactly the same Problem :(

I just can't seem to get to the bottom of this creaking issue.
At first, I thought the creaking was coming from the stock bottom bracket, so I swapped it for a new Kactus BB; the creaking improved slightly.
Then I installed a new Praxis Works BB, and the creaking improved significantly—now it only happens when putting down over 200W of power on the drive side, specifically when the crank arm is between the 3 and 6 o'clock positions.
In the meantime, I swapped out the pedals and crank arms to rule out other potential causes.

After replacing everything and seeing a major improvement with the Praxis Works BB, I decided to try a one-piece BB and ordered the Bicone BB.
Unfortunately, the creaking persists—still occurring between the 3 and 6 o'clock crank positions when putting out over 200W, even when I'm out of the saddle.

I don't think it's coming from the storage door, because I've already tried it without the down tube storage door and without the bag.
