Re: Lightcarbon LCFS937 Build
You are going to use the same components as on the merida and the new bike will be more expensive? Either the merdia frame is very cheap when you exclude all the components, or the LCF is very expensive.
Normally when I build a bike with the same components like the one in the shop, I end up cheaper. I only end up more expensive when I use the money, which I save on the frame, to buy better components as my initial intention

This is my thought as well.  On my hardtail build in 2014, I had about $4k to spend.  That would have gotten me (at the time), a 24lb bike built with upper-midrange components and likely aluminum wheels (remember, carbon was more of an expensive novelty even back then).  Instead I built a 20lb bike with xx1/x01 and carbon wheels for the same money.  There was a ~$1000 difference for the frame (Branded to Open Mold) and ~$700 difference on the carbon wheels (branded to Open Mold).  That money was applied to components.  Using Chinese carbon seat post and handlebar and Chinese stem and seat further increased savings.

OEMs do get a break on components versus what we can generally find retail, but with some careful shopping I've found that components can be bought at very good prices compared to MSRP.

Re: Professional Inspection Do you know Raoul Luescher from Luescher Teknik ?
For instance, he cuts frames in two, to inspect them and report on youtube:

If you want a true inspection, you need to find a real composite material specialist like him in your area.

I would love to know the result of such investigation.
Although this would only be a test on a single frame, not the whole Carbonda production, which seems great from all the reviews for years.

I'm not even sure Carbonda would take a frame back because they discover you a void in the carbon layup or wrinkles somewhere.
It looks many branded frames have them, and they are massively ridden, even raced.

Ask Carbonda what they think !
I would save that money for better components instead ;)

Re: Interchangeable vs solid dropout on custom Ti I'd go boost and just get a non-boost to boost adaptor. That way you future-proof your bike.

Using the "new" button to go to unread posts within a thread. Just thought I would point out a useful feature that some users may not realize exists. If you click on the orange "new" button next to the thread titles it will take you to the first unread post in that thread. A bookmark of sorts. Better than clicking through dozens of pages trying to figure out what post you last read.

Re: Custom Waltly Titanium 29er So the rims were lost in the mail, the brakes are on backorder, and the fork is unavailable at this time. I ended up ordering some cheap take-off wheels to run for now and keep as back ups and that solved the rim issue. I also dug into my parts bin and my brothers to find the rest of the needed items. It's all put together and riding great. It will be nice when it looses a few pounds with the permanent parts but it works for now.

Re: ZTTO MTB M1 Boost hubs 28H 54T Ratchet I've got a set built up on Light Bicycle rims with pillar spokes as my main wheelset.
I'm 100km of off road riding on them in the mud and rocks (servere conditions)  with high loads on a 170mm travel bike that has high pedal kick back.
This can load the freehub very heavily.

If they were abnormally weak I would have killed them by now so far so good I'll report back as I get more mileage on them
I break things.

The spoke lengths from ZTTO were spot on.

Re: Chinese Santa Cruz/AM831 Has anyone figured the supplier which bbr purchased it from? i've spoken to afew vendors with no response. Not sure as to why bbr would hide the retailer which he purchased it from(has every right to do whatever he wants). Allowing more people to purchase the frame would inevitably fix those "kinks" and help out the chinertown community in purchasing decisions?
