Re: Chinese aero style gravel bar?
Carbonda has a flared/aero gravel bar. http://www.carbonda.com/accessory/handlebar/123.html I swapped to this to try something new after riding the FSA Adventure bars for a while. I prefer the flare on the Carbonda, to me it feels like the entire drop rotates horizontally from just under the shifter contact, compared to most I've used that feel like the tip of the drop rotates out while leaving the contact point still under the hoods...if that makes sense. They have internal routing for standard cabling as well as an opening at the back of the stem if you need full internal. Routing wasn't terrible if you have a pick to pull the housing out. The flat tops are wider than the FSAs (semi flattened aluminum) but not full on road aero. September 17, 2020, 10:26:15 PM |

Re: Carbonda FM909
Flybike is the manufacturer of all Carbonda farmes. Carbonda is a flybike subsidiary company. FM stands for Flybike Mold as far as I know. If you pay Carbonda, you pay Flybike. Carbonda is mainly for the non-OEM customers. Most of the flybike frames are OEM only. Some like the CFR696 (there is also a FM name for it) or the FM936 are also availanble for non-OEM. Re: Velobuild's price vs other options
Here is my experience: Chris is very responsive, and VB will accept custom paint schemes and decals for a price. However, with VB it is best to keep the order as simple as possible, as their fulfillment system leaves much to be desired. They are prone to making mistakes on orders, even on straight forward items such as frame and handlebar size. While responsive, getting them to correct an order after shipping is near impossible. They may make mistakes or switch parts and not tell you until the item has shipped. This occured to me with the handlebar (model switched) and seatpost (incorrectly painted). They will give you the run around, and eventually throw you a bone, but unless the mistake is severe, do not expect good post sales service. They will quote 21 days, but expect up to 2 months. Shipping by EMS took about 2 weeks. I didn't pay duties The frame I received was quite good. Geo was correct, and weights were within specified, even with paint, axles, and hangers A couple superficial scratches. The carbon was mostly nice and clean internally. The steerer was smooth, but deep in the fork were a lot of loose fibers. However, I understand this also is the case with some name brands. The handlebar holes that interface with the spacers was slightly misaligned as were the mounting holes for the rear brake caliper. The handlebar cavities were the sloppiest, with cables constantly catching on the carbon while routing. The cable only caught in one place on the chainstay. The BB hole was round and very clean. Super easy installing the BB The front fork could use a cable port, as the exit hole for the brake cable is very shallow. This results in some thin carbon around the hole. While the brake cable easily went through, it did chip off carbon around the hole in the process. No torque specs are given other than the thru axles. In short, they make decent frames for the price. They are disorganized and prone to making mistakes. If you are patient, and they deliver as ordered, you'll likely be satisfied. If you need post-sales help, god help you. Re: Electronic devices
What are your thoughts now on the Karoo 2? There have been a lot of updates, but seemingly still quite a few disgruntled users, and almost universally reported still-poor battery life? They apparently can't fix the lost sensor issue. It must be a harder problem than it looks like, as they had quite a few updates since then. Having to re-enable my power meter while riding in a peloton after a pause, is terribly annoying and dangerous. Except that problem, everything is fine, but it annoys me enough that I will probably switch back to wahoo at their next iteration. For the battery life, if I plan a ride longer than 7h, I attach a 18650 based powerbank to the handlebar, for a few hours more. October 30, 2021, 04:32:00 PM |

Re: Electronic devices
Is the sensor loss universal, or just some units, or some sensors? It looses the powermeters on all my bikes, a p2m-road, sigeyi-mtb and quarq-gravel. But it doesn't loose my heart rate either magene or a whoop. Shifting sensors stay as well. They made an update recently, limiting Ant+ sensors to 15, but that didn't help at all. They told me on their support to change the priority of sensors depending the bike I ride That didn't help either. What is stupid, is when you get to the sensor page, it finds it back instantly. Would it be possible a smart ass there would call the same function when re-starting a ride ? I agree with you, all these devices look prehistoric, even the Karoo, compared to other apps we use daily. But just to be clear, except this powermeter loss. If I train myself, I could think of passing by the sensor page before restarting the ride... As well as the shortish 7h battery life(last longer if you turn your screen off when not riding). I'm quite happy with it. November 01, 2021, 03:31:23 AM |

Re: Electronic devices
Is the sensor loss universal, or just some units, or some sensors? I notice that the when on my road bike with a Stages gen 3 PM the connectivity stays strong with the K2. On my gravel bike that has a Stages gen 2 PM though the connection gets interrupted very frequently when pausing and sometimes mid spin. Connectivity with a di2 Ant+ only dongle seems good. I notice that notifications from my phone also aren't consistent and the device often needs to be connected again. Battery life isn't great. Putting into battery saving mode helps but still behind the Wahoo devices. Aside from this happy with the nav and UI and functionality. November 01, 2021, 10:28:59 AM |

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread!
It's actually mind boggling how people could still want frames from heideli after everything that's happened and eddies blatant lies to sell more problematic frames. He's on this site everyday around 6pm pst, like clockwork. He sees the questions but clearly is avoiding them as he does with emails he doesn't want to answer. offer to buy something from the site and see how quickly he responds to that. If you don't know what I'm talking about, read through this thread and the link below. https://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,3539.15.html Edit- I'm still all for removing him from this forum. Re: Ican S3 XC Frame
I won't buy a frame that doesn't have BSA / T47. Threaded is the only way to go. From an engineering POV, a properly toleranced bb92/bb86 is better because it allows for a wider BB area. The issue is most manufacturers have POS QA and that causes excessive bb wear/creaking. My Carbonda fm936 has 0 bb creaks and a well-toleranced bb bore. January 28, 2022, 06:07:39 AM |

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread!
The bolt on dropouts in this version on both sides are a bit of an odd design choice, since it’s unlikely anyone will want anything other than a 12x148 axle…I wonder what that’s about.
