Re: Carbonda fm936 Thoughts
Here is my bling build ! The weather isn't very nice here, so only two ~70km rides so far. But I loved every instant of them, a smile from one ear to the other, even once when I crashed it Not sure if it is the geometry, the full suspension, the seatpost or the electronic shifting in particular, but this has little in common with my past hardtail riding. It is a size M SL. OG-Evkin bar Ligthbicyle XC925 wheelset with DT-Swiss EXP 240. XX1 AXS derailleur + Blipbox + Multiclics SID Ultimate 120mm and SIDLuxe shock 42.5mm Piccola brakes Reverb AXS 2.35 tires. And 10,1kg The commands are, left click easier gear, right click harder gear. Click on both for the seatpost. I was hoping for a more greenish blue, than this reddish one, but I start to get used to it I'm still testing different 3D printed mounts for the blips for different positions. For now the cables are taped below the bar, my plan was to make them go through the bar end and exit through one of the mount holes. But there was some sun, and I preferred to go ride than work more on it. Maybe later. April 12, 2021, 05:55:25 AM |

Just another Og-Evkin CF-025 Build
Finally built the 100% Aliexpress bike I've been wanting to do for a while. Or at least, it would have been 100% if not for a couple of broken parts. Specs and a mini review below: Specs: Frame - Og-Evkin CF-025 Superlight T800 Wheelset - Og-Evkin Battle C45 45mm deep clincher | Ultralight Novatec FS61/62 Carbon Hubs Tyres - Continental GP5000 Handlebars - Carbon Og-Evkin HB-011 Stem - FSA Omega 80mm Groupset: Shimano 105 R7000 Pedals - Knockoff Shimano SPD's Seatpost - Carbon Og-Evkin SP-008 Saddle - Og-Evkin Weight: 7.3kg, if my Aliexpress weighing scale is to be believed Compared to some of the chiner frames i've seen on the internet, the finishing on this frame is superb. The fork steerer was somewhat uneven but I don't think it's a big issue. My only complaint regarding the frame would be the front mech hanger screws. Mine rounded the first time I tried tightening them, and they only give spares for the rear hanger. I'd request for extras or get some better ones in advance. I bought the og-evkin wheelset mostly for convenience, but I'm actually quite happy with it. Braking feels better than my elitewheels set, and unlike the latter, these actually arrived true. - I actually ordered the Og-Evkin SM-004 Stem but one of the threads came stripped. Thats the 2nd carbon stem I've ordered on Ali and the 2nd that has arrived like that. - The saddle is just a random saddle being sold by a bunch of other stores as well, and its definitely not worth it. Feels really cheap and isn't particularly comfortable. - The Ultegra SPD replicas broke literally within the first 2km, despite the decent reviews. I suppose its good that they broke fast while I can still get a refund. I'm too casual a rider to comment on the technical aspects i.e stiffness, etc, and I haven't done a proper ride with it yet, but it does feel a bit more nimble than my old Merida Scultura, thought thats probably because it's lighter and smaller. I was gonna ride to a nice place to take some nice photos but the crazy weather didn't allow it, so, apartment hallway it is September 04, 2021, 06:36:42 AM |

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
Finally! I've only had time to pick at the build 15-30minutes at a time so it took forever. Wrong paint color notwithstanding, here are the other hiccups I experienced(mostly trivial): - Brake cable exit hole on fork had some flaking carbon - One of the Front brake mount screw holes was not deep enough, requiring use of an extra washer as a spacer - Handlebar carbon is a bit messy inside making routing fiddly - Rear brake mounts slightly misaligned, resulting in the slightest rub once per revolution (even if I manually open the Juin Tech calipers the whole way). It'll probably be fine once the pads are bedded - some minor cosmetic scratches And here is the good: + Weight was within specified, including hardware + Other than handlebars routing was super easy + Carbon looked super clean on the inside, other than deep in the fork + BB pressed in very cleanly End build is a 1x12 based on the Sensah Empire Pro. Showroom weight (without pedals) = 7.58kg Weight with pedals and cages = 7.79kg Real-world weight (with computer mount, computer, lights, Airtag, repair kit) = 8.6kg UPDATE: Included my parts and pricing. All prices are Canadian Dollars, incl. taxes, duties, and shipping where applicable. Weights are a mixture of estimates and actual, so differ from the final measured weight (probably some parts came in lower than advertised, and losses from cutting cables, handlebar tape, steerer, etc.) September 09, 2021, 07:04:51 PM |

Re: Carbonda Cfr 1056
So, after the first few rides and tinkering a bit with setup, brakes etc I'm Really happy with the bike. It rides really well, handles nicely and predictably and is comfy for long rides (3h +). In direct comparison with my other bike it takes slightly more effort to keep up higher pace. I wonder if I'd notice if I would not have been able to ride the bikes back-to-back. It also "feels" slightly slower generally but I think that's due to the different tyres, where I ride this bike on vittoria corsa controls at 29mm wam (5 bar ~70 psi). The other bike is rim brake and I use pirelli race 27mm wam (5.4 bar, ~80 psi) . Power wise it's not noticeably different at anything other then the above mentioned higher pace. Maybe the extra 0.5kg also matters slightly. The build is a mix of GRX and Ultegra components, due to availability and cost as well as preference for hood shape, ergo wave braking and (now it finally functions) the clutch on the rear derailleur for the "light gravel" round I intend to ride too. I routed the shifter cables outside to prevent shifting issues (it shifts better then my other mech shifting bike where everything runs internally). Main components: 1056 frame (58) and 1036 handlebar (11x42cm). Grx 810 shifters, hydro brakes and rear derailleur. Ultegra 50-34 crank175mm, 11-32 cassette, Rd8000 front derailleur and hg701 chain. Ultegra pedals. Farsports Feder 45mm, 28mm outside 21 inside on carbon ti hub, brass nipples and cx sprint drive side spokes (unbelievably light combination), vittoria corsa control 28mm, latex tube. Xtr rotors 160mm front and rear Small parts: Sq labs active 612 14cm Close the gap garmin mount + bell ZTTO handlebar tape (very much like lizardskin, recommended!) Tacx bottle holders Bontrager flare light Total weight 8.3kg Issues while building : The front cable guide , with the new guides in the house I'll replace it with a proper one as soon as I feel like swapping the front derailleur cable. The rear axle drive side "holder" was tight. Replaced it with one of the spares and problem solved. The lower screw of the front brake caliper is quite tight, I guess some resin left over, it works and holds well however it was not super easy to get the caliper in perfect position. And I forgot to add cable foam on the rear hydro brake cable brakes are super tight now so I don't feel undoing "just because". Left to do: Find rubber grommet for the hydro hose entry point on the front left, which I don't use. Anyone know a fitting one? Decide whether I want to go down another 5mm or keep it like this. Re: Carbonda Cfr 1056
I decided to scrap the 27.5s it was just too tight. The 37mm measured 700c fit fine. I put Rene Herse bon jon pass 35c in the rear on internal 24mm wheel they measure 37mm and stelicom pass 38c on the front measure to 37mm on an internal 19mm wheel. So happy with how this carbonda turned out October 22, 2021, 04:07:31 PM |

Re: Carbonda Cfr 1056
Thanks. I finally got out on a ride working full time and two kids makes it difficult to get out. It rides pretty good I don't have a ton to compare it to. On gravel it's def a bit bumpier than my rondo ruut I had previous with 650b x 2.2 tires. But on road it feels really good compared to the rondo. I only did a 12 mile ride and my seatpost came loose by the end so I need to put some more carbon paste I guess. But over happy with it. Also it's a chain stay for forbidden druid MTB
