I would like to say that I'm not at my first build, almost 10 bikes (road, MTB, chinese, branded, Dengfu, Cannondale, OPEN Cycle, etc...) To resume, I cut the fork steerer under the top of the stem and when I put the expander there is more or less 3mm free, to the top of the stem, so enought to compress the headset. There is no spacer installed under the stem.  For me this flex is coming from the stem Apart from that, a photo of the bike under construction (size 56cm, color blue chameleon)  And a little hack on the seat post (gain 28gr)

Just want to point out that a headset that cannot maintain preload is not a minor issue. Riding a loose headset is the cause of the “ring of death” phenomena found on carbon steerers. mauwth would you mind sharing what option did you take for your crankset? UPDATE (a few minutes after my original reply): Looking at the photos again, I do realize that they still show the Rival crankset, so you made the right observation. That Rival crankset has since been moved to my aero bike (which I use for climbing as well) and the TT bike got the heaver (but much cheaper) Apex crankset with powermeter instead. Re: VB TT-023: Here comes a new build
Hi everyone, Just a small update the frame has arrived in France last week and is about to be cleared by customs (hopefully). I have finally changed my mind regarding the wheels. The front one will be my current 50mm but i have ordered a rear wheel from DFS Wheel after having discussed quite a lot with them and having read many positive feedbacks. I'll go for a 88mm + R2 hub + Sapim CX_Ray spokes. I should be able to start the build by a week or so (depending on the custom clearance). We keep in touch August 19, 2025, 03:44:13 AM |

Did an olympic triathlon last weekend. Managed to average over 40km/h on this frame  Stoked to see how it will perform in the longer races next year

Hi, This is my first post here on the forum. I have a Velobuild TT and also one of their road bikes. Last year I built 2 TT bikes, mine and a friend’s, because we raced the 70.3 Emilia Romagna here in Italy. My setup is basically stock, with some extra spacers to raise the front a bit more, built with Shimano Ultegra and a bit of 105. The wheels are from Officine Mattio, the Wave model, size 40 for the road bike and 60 for the TT. I work at the headquarters of this bike brand, so I end up buying the parts here since I get them for less. My thoughts: if I had to build again today, I’d go with SRAM, since you only need to run the hydraulic hoses. The Shimano system is a nightmare, with lots of wires and 11V-to-12V converters.
