Re: Yoeleo R11 - di2 "budget" build
The comments about Chinese business culture is interesting. That said, I think that it's equally fair that the ones on the receiving end of no updates or, worse yet, false updates are also offended. Trying to save face in these kinds of scenarios by making patently false statements completely backfires as all you've actually gained is a bad reputation. Patience is a fine option when you're originally told 30-45 days. Since it's coming from overseas that does seem reasonable. When you approach the 90+ day range with repeated +3 day excuses with statements like, "your frame is ready" patience runs thin. I will give them credit for one thing. Their social media presence, Youtube videos, and pricing strategy did lure me to believe that they would be a tighter outfit than some of the other brands in the region. Let's see how this all plays out. May 18, 2021, 07:26:38 AM |

Just another Og-Evkin CF-025 Build
Finally built the 100% Aliexpress bike I've been wanting to do for a while. Or at least, it would have been 100% if not for a couple of broken parts. Specs and a mini review below: Specs: Frame - Og-Evkin CF-025 Superlight T800 Wheelset - Og-Evkin Battle C45 45mm deep clincher | Ultralight Novatec FS61/62 Carbon Hubs Tyres - Continental GP5000 Handlebars - Carbon Og-Evkin HB-011 Stem - FSA Omega 80mm Groupset: Shimano 105 R7000 Pedals - Knockoff Shimano SPD's Seatpost - Carbon Og-Evkin SP-008 Saddle - Og-Evkin Weight: 7.3kg, if my Aliexpress weighing scale is to be believed Compared to some of the chiner frames i've seen on the internet, the finishing on this frame is superb. The fork steerer was somewhat uneven but I don't think it's a big issue. My only complaint regarding the frame would be the front mech hanger screws. Mine rounded the first time I tried tightening them, and they only give spares for the rear hanger. I'd request for extras or get some better ones in advance. I bought the og-evkin wheelset mostly for convenience, but I'm actually quite happy with it. Braking feels better than my elitewheels set, and unlike the latter, these actually arrived true. - I actually ordered the Og-Evkin SM-004 Stem but one of the threads came stripped. Thats the 2nd carbon stem I've ordered on Ali and the 2nd that has arrived like that. - The saddle is just a random saddle being sold by a bunch of other stores as well, and its definitely not worth it. Feels really cheap and isn't particularly comfortable. - The Ultegra SPD replicas broke literally within the first 2km, despite the decent reviews. I suppose its good that they broke fast while I can still get a refund. I'm too casual a rider to comment on the technical aspects i.e stiffness, etc, and I haven't done a proper ride with it yet, but it does feel a bit more nimble than my old Merida Scultura, thought thats probably because it's lighter and smaller. I was gonna ride to a nice place to take some nice photos but the crazy weather didn't allow it, so, apartment hallway it is September 04, 2021, 06:36:42 AM |

Re: My Dengfu R12 - First Impressions and Video
And here is the final build. The decals/logo are my own design and I painted the frame at home myself: 3 coats of Dupi-Color Special Effex metallic paint and 3 coats of Spray Max 2K clearcoat. Wanted a little sparkle and protection while maintaining the "raw carbon" showing through. The Hyper 65 wheels are intended for my Winspace T1500, but these will do until my other wheels arrive. 7.8kg without the PowerTap P2 pedals December 15, 2021, 08:50:01 AM |

Re: VB-R-066 D Build
Glad to see a thread started for the R-066. I have one ordered and just waiting for shipment. I decided only to get the frame from Velobuild and get rest of the parts from Aliexpress. Once I get it, I'll weight frame (M) and post here. June 02, 2022, 04:44:59 PM |

Re: TFSA Carbon Frameset Build-Up
I have to say, there's a real sense of satisfaction after building out a bike. On top of that, on the group ride the bike easily kept pace with cyclists on top tier frames with far more expensive components. I'm amazed at how many roadies I meet who don't even know how to tune their derailleur. I'm now itching to build more bikes, though I don't think my wife would be too happy to see N+1 bikes all over our house! October 02, 2022, 11:57:29 AM |

It's been 5 years..
I built four road bikes from Chinese carbon frames between 2017 & 2019. All of them purchased on eBay with free shipping to USA. The first one was sent the wrong frame size to me, filed a dispute and got to keep the frameset for free. After completing the build and test riding it for few weeks, I sold it to a neighbor who actually fits on it better than me. He's been riding it ever since, with close to 2k miles pedaled. The replacement frame was sent the proper size that I ordered. Built up in 2019 and been my all around riding. Third frame was aero road frame, cable routing was PITA with the handlebar, only wish it had disc brakes. Last build was a TT frameset, built up with wireless shifting. All of them have been ridden regularly. I don't ride nearly as much as I used to since 2020, but still very fun bikes to ride. October 05, 2022, 08:38:02 AM |

Re: Onirii One
Update: I have the frame and some cool and bad things. Coolest surprise was 32mm gp5000 trs fit. Finish was evenly sprayed. Seat clamp came with a 10mm bolt. Using the bolt helps installing for anyone who rides without a cutout saddle. Internals look pretty good. Very little globs of resin. I didn't see loose bladder or fiber. The internal seemed layered well looking around headtube and bb areas. There was care in running cable guides and packaging. There was extra Packing wrapped around all ends of the frame. Tons of tape. Bad: Didn't recieve thru axles or headset bearings. The rear caliper mount was drilled messy not an even oval. The fork looks like it's used for multiple frame types. Fork is marked where to drill for internal routing. Fork and head tube don't set well together with lower bearing. The Fork and head tube have 45* moulding but the bearing sets inward too far causing binding. Adding a crown race leaves too large a gap and fork sets crooked. It fits flush and rotates smoothly with the bearing setting on 90* with no crown race.I don't like how this leaves the bear resting on 45* cuts with 90* races. I have extra thru axles to figure out what fits. Front is L121 m12 p1.5 Rear will work with length L164 to L168 m12 p1.5 Weights for 49cm matte black Frame : 845g Fork : 355g Seatpost : 190g I already ordered alpinist type bars that are 10mm longer than I usually go for which Im glad after seeing frame. I had plan to build this only as a climber expecting 28mm max. Now I need some time to think if I want to do more with it. November 15, 2022, 03:32:37 PM |
