Re: The shiney new AM831 Group Buy thread!
Here you go In general they can do any color you want, as long as you provide the right Pantone or RAL reference. Here is a sheet with Pantone ones: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1UZ6UEuG95xwcYVxeFkX9yzxlZV7NgETX8P8weUrZIV4/edit?usp=sharing Beware your screen will show a color differently than the real one. Look for a color you like, and then search pictures with the reference on the web. To see items painted in that color. Again this is false colors, but it gives a better idea. And the best is to look at physical color chart in a paint shop for instance. Then you can draw patterns, add sequins, or a metallic effect, etc. at extra cost. May 30, 2021, 12:12:14 PM |

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread!
Here is some more photos including rough measurements of the shock tunnel and fork clearance. The fork is a 150mm 51mm offfset Pike for reference. I'm still need to buy a few more parts before I can really start to build it up. Overall the frame looks really good! August 17, 2021, 10:23:37 PM |

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread!
Guys, A list of things you'll need to complete this bike, but not specific brands or equipment: Things included - Frame Headset Seatpost clamp Rear axle BB depends on when you buy and might not be useful depending on your crankset Things you'll need: 150-170mm fork with a tapered steerer tube 210x55 shock 8x22mm rear shock mounting hardware (linkage side, need to confirm exact measurement) 8x30mm rear shock mounting hardware (front mount of frame) 31.6 seatpost - if it is a dropper make sure you get a lever if not included 165mm or 170mm crankset and chainring 30t or 32t - (any longer will be crank arm strike city) BB92 bottom bracket for whatever type of crankset spindle you get Rear derailleur Shifter Chain Cassette 180mm rear rotor or larger (larger will require an adapter) 180mm, 200mm, or 203mm front rotor (pay attention if you need an adapter) Brake levers and calipers front and rear, usually come with hoses Wheels and tires Headset spacers Handlebar Grips Pedals Stem Saddle Shifter housing and ends if you go mechanical Optional bits- Better IS42/52 headset (I hope it is 42mm, sometimes they have a slightly smaller bearing) A stealth rear axle from a few pages back Chain guide, bash guard, or combo I think that is all you need to get on the trail but this is off the top of my head, hopefully someone else will fill in the blanks. Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread!
Attaching a picture of my finished build. This frame size is "S". Only the bottom cage is missing and I haven ridden it yet, apart up and down the street to tune suspension and saddle height. Some interesting parts of my build:
As for my component list, most of them are reused form other builds or both 2nd hand:
I hope this is helpful to others.. August 29, 2021, 09:25:32 PM |

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread!
Short answer - 22.2 and have some shims. We don't have multiple samples of the linkage reporting dimensions...yet. Also, one person will test the Santa Cruz linkage - if it works the 30mm front and rear roller bearings become options. My measurement was 22.86, which you can find, for example here https://www.amazon.com/Shock-Mount-Hardware-Washer-M8x22-86mm/dp/B08HR4YLMY I used 22.2 + shims, because that's what I had. Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread!
I should have had my frame today too but USPS delivered it to the wrong address! it even required a signature but that wasnt even enough to prevent an incorrect delivery. i really hope they can recover it but seeing as i havent heard back from them and its already 7pm here, i fear the worst. Eddy, There are some really nice and honest people. A lady with two young babies just dropped off the box . It was delivered to her house by mistake and she went through the trouble to make sure it was delivered correctly thank you for all your help and sorry for bothering you! I have thr frame now. Jon The frame received, thanks. September 09, 2021, 10:39:04 PM |

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread!
Got the frame today. I have to go out so will go over it better later but it looks good so far. It's a large painted frame and with just the der hanger it weighs 2435g. I stuck the rear shock in since I pulled the shipping rod to weigh it, and with the 22.2mm rear mounting hardware I was able to put one 0.5mm shim in and it was a pretty tight fit and I can't feel any "slop" or play even before tightening the bolt. I also slid the Suntour Auron fork in with the bearings just to get an idea on clearance, and one side misses and the other side with dampening knobs just barely hits. A couple 2 or 3 mm will probably be all it needs. But I imagine it will depend on the fork and some will clear a large frame. I will work on it later and add any thoughts or issues I come across Edit: spelling September 20, 2021, 04:36:06 PM |

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread!
Can someone post the exact specs for a crown race spacer that worked for them? Currently available options that will work without a special bearing: 3mm race https://canecreek.com/product/3mm-52-40mm-alloy-crown-race-baa0855k/ 6mm race https://canecreek.com/product/6mm-52-40mm-alloy-crown-race-baa1078k/ 10mm -0.5 degree race https://reverse-components.com/en/products/05%C2%B0-angle-spacer-tapered-forks Alternatively, use a downtube protector as a bump stop : https://www.ridewrap.ca/products/shuttle-armor/ Specialized used to make a tall race for stumpjumpers and I think Hope and Chris King had some sort of race spacer available. Not sure if any of those wold work right without a specific headset lower to match. Anyway, don't have the frame yet but just throwing out the available offerings. There are probably others available on Ali or Amazon but for under $20 USD I picked up the 3mm Cane Creek to match the headset. I'll just add the downtube protector if it still hits, I'm not planning on doing bar spins and I move the back end on tight turns and switchbacks. September 21, 2021, 06:35:46 AM |

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread!
Received my frame today. Quite a bit of shipping damage on the box but the frame seems unscathed. I ended up purchasing the frame from Topfire, not Haidelai like most of you. I thought they'd be a bit faster after talking to someone else on another forum and their own statements - I was wrong. Furthermore, they shipped the frame without anything in the way of spacers where the shock was meant to be - the frame was free to slam in to itself over and over on the way here - fortunately doesn't show. They also sent literally no hardware other than what I requested (and was charged for) specifically - a rear axle and hanger. I guess I'll need to source everything else from a SC dealer and hope it fits? The other two full sus bikes I've purchased (from different Chinese manufacturers) at least had like... some hardware... I also asked for a RAW frame, unpainted - which they agreed initially. They informed me when it was ready to ship (like 9 months later) that they weren't going to do that - it was coming matte black whether I like it or not. Between this and their poor organization (they sent a message saying I had to pay more for shipping if I wanted a rush shipment and no duties, and then realized they were looking at the wrong country) I'd HIGHLY recommend avoiding them and going with Haideli. I know I should have. I sure hope that I never have any further issues with this, I think I'd be completely on my own. Edit: Can someone else measure the thread pitch and length of the included axle? I didn't actually get one despite paying for one. Stick with Eddie guys =/ September 21, 2021, 07:05:33 PM |
