Re: ICAN triaero A9
Out for a ride with a mate today. Does it look like there's nearly a 10k price difference? Definitely doesn't perform like there is.

Yoeleo R11 - di2 "budget" build
Finally! After about 6 months of planning and waiting, today I finally got to take my R11 for a short spin. Feels great! Still waiting for a di2 cable, a grommet for the RD cable exit, and some flatmount bolts before I can tape the handlebars and go on a longer ride. In the meantime, here's my full build spec. (Most of these parts were ordered in Dec 2020.) I really wanted to try Di2 (a 900 CHF upgrade over plain 105 in my case), but I set a goal of minimizing the budget, so it's mostly 105 spec otherwise. Notably, cranks were unavailable, so I decided to try the CVR Hardrock ones. One worry is that the ZTTO thread together BB is 94mm wide from bearing seal to bearing seal (a Shimano BB86 BB is 92mm, and a BSA68 one is 90mm). This means there's about 5mm of the crank's spline interface that's not mated to the spindle, because the latter is too short. The bolts on the NDS crank do tighten onto the spindle, so I'm hoping it's ok. The other gotcha was that the 2021 frame does not have a mounting hole for the Di2 RS910 junction in the downtube, unlike the 2020 one shown in the photos. I had to improvise a bit with my cable lengths, and ended up wedging my WU111 (BT junction) in the handlebars... Otherwise, I'm happy with Yoeleo: it took exactly 3 months from my order on Dec 23 to shipment on Mar 23, and another 2 weeks to Switzerland using EMS Express. (I paid with Transferwise, btw -- the wire transfer took only a day to arrive.) Uncut, the seatpost is 390mm, which means the BB center to saddle rail ranges from 655mm - 790mm (minimum insertion: 100mm, max insertion into frame: 235mm, which is 255mm above center of BB). My saddle height is about 700mm and my saddle has a stack height of 50mm, so I ended up shortening the seatpost to 350mm to avoid bottoming out. The first section details everything that came in the box with the frame. Ready to ride, the bike weighs 8.4kg and the total cost (including all taxes, shipping etc) was a bit under 3300 CHF. Happy to answer questions! I'll definitely follow up once I get some more serious kms on the bike -- super excited!

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
Here's my build! Just a plain black matte because I was already over budget with the 105 R7020 groupset It's my first ever build but because of all the redos from self-inflicted errors it feels like I've built three bikes already. Rides great (especially compared to the commuter bike it replaced) though I think the headset bearings are loose. Great resources: - All of you here - Niels and his blog: https://roadmeister.cc - Free To Cycle YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyyUYmKcskySTZh6Cf2blhg - GCN & Park Tool YouTube videos. Chris + Velobuild were great at being responsive and answering questions (pre & post sale), but there were a few issues: - I think we'd all appreciate timeline transparency and realistic estimates. Waiting for months is a part of the process, but they don't have to obscure what's going on. - My VB wheels ruptured dangerously. I've since purchased ICAN wheels. - Chris & VB have gone radio silent after my VB wheels ruptured. - The weight of the frame was incorrect. For a size 52/S, it's actually 1100g for the frame, 473g for the fork, and 244g for the seat post. They had said: "Frame 168 M about 1000g ,fork 400g ,seat post 180g ." June 23, 2021, 12:19:21 PM |

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
Correct, they don't offer a completely raw carbon frame as they are all coated. Nice! I will share some better pictures (in daylight ) once I have received the frame. I just stumbled upon these pictures on the Velobuild website, really like the look of the Chameleon frame in daylight! (Not so sure about the saddle and the pedals though ) July 08, 2021, 03:05:30 AM |

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
While building it seemed on the small side for a 56cm frame, so i measured it: I believe it's a 54cm seriously though.. Gonna ask for a confirmation, but if it's a 56cm the geometry is completely off. July 27, 2021, 03:06:29 PM |

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
I still promised to share some specs of my build, so hereby . Frameset: Velobuild VB-R-168 (O RLY? ), Size 56 Wheelset: Farsports Kaze 35, 23mm (ext) width, DT Swiss 350, Sapim CX ray with brass nipples Tires: Schwalbe Pro One EVO TLE (set-up tubelss with Schwalbe valves and Orange Seal endurance) Bar: Two bolt Velobuild bar 420/100 Bottle cages: Tacx Ciro (Matt black) Seat: Specialized power expert 155mm BB: Shimano Dura Ace BB92 Crankset: Rotor ALDHU24 Chainrings: Rotor Q Rings Sram AXS, 48/35 Groupset: SRAM Force eTap AXS 2x12, 160mm discs, 10-28 cassette I love the ride so far, the bike feels really fast and gives a great sense of control. I do have one issue, even though I have tightened the seatpost to 7nm it somehow is making a sort of knocking sound if I stand up and sit down. It seems like the post has too much room to move in the seat tube... Anybody else experencing this? August 02, 2021, 03:46:52 AM |

Re: Velobuild VB-R-177
Been out for a ride - the bike is great! Very fast and comfy. The brakes are excellent, but bear in mind I've never used any sort of disc brakes before. I'm sure hydraulic brakes would be better but I'm impressed with the juin tech. First time I've used deep wheels too so I definitely noticed the wind a couple of times. August 09, 2021, 04:34:42 PM |

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
Hello was only a silent reader until now. I ordered 2 frames 168 from Curis are on the way. The video with the handlebars and that it is an experienced self-builder scared me. I already got an answer from Chris My handlebar is the new version HB011, with the two bolts. Chris answered to me after my message with the video and picture, that is his response: Quote Hello To be totally clear and honest, I decided to do cross-tests with different stems and handlebars (3T, rotor, ritchey, deda, chinese ...) and also to scrupulously reinstall the HB011 handlebars (with a few shims under the headset top cover and that make difference) . Of course, the HB011 isn't the stifer solution, but neither is it the worst that I have tried by far. Finaly, I just finished the build an hour ago and did a quick ride of half an hour (15km and 320 D+). Thus, this ride was short, but I can tell that:
