Re: The Different Types of Carbon Fiber and Their Characteristics
It will be nice if this thread could also explain the differences between various tensile strengths and tensile modulus, e.g., T700 T800 T1000.

Re: Storck rebranding Elite Drive wheels?
It's exactly the same. I'm using the same wheelset with silver chrome hub. January 21, 2023, 12:14:09 AM |

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc!
I have two other Rockbros bags that go under the seat and have their proprietary quick release mount system - it's pointless because I wasn't able to find just the plastic mounting hardware anywhere. My thought process was that that I would be able to use same bag on multiple bikes if they all had that bracket. Why else would you want to remove the bag from the bike? I never take off the bags even while washing.

Re: ProX carbon wheels (LightCarbon)
Well folks my wheelset finally arrived. The wheels looked good on visual inspection. When I started installing the tire though, the rim completely delaminated. I've reached out to ProX. Let's see what they say. Otherwise I may have to use PayPal Purchase Protection. March 24, 2023, 12:35:39 PM |

Re: Chinese cycling clothes
been using mostly aliexpress clothes for the past 4y so could say a bit about some brands.. I always try looking for those better ones, because the cheapest are trash after some months :/ Rion I had good experience years ago, but the newest stuff didn't had the chance to test yet... Darevie I have 3 bibs, 2 jerseys, and a baselayer. All are great quality, the fabric is good and comfortable, the padding is good too, at least the models I have. This blue bib from them is really great, fit well and comfortable, it's beautiful also so gotta say one of my favorites. Been curious about this one too and got it, the 'X straps' and the partially sewed chamois got my attention, but gotta say I didn't find too different from the traditional bibs From Ykywbike I have a lot of stuff, bibs, jerseys, windproof long sleeve, socks, arm and leg warmers, gloves, thermal bib.. first, they upped their game a lot in the last 1-2yrs, I had some of the old stuff and the quality difference is very clear. But still the prices nowadays are good, although higher than before This bib with a thicker chamois and this one with Elastic Interface are my favorites, the fabric is really comfortable I almost don't feel it, had 6-7h rides with them and all good too, a lot of use (1,5yrs weekly use) and still look like new this new summer jersey is a good example of the quality improvement, I compare it with my 2y old jerseys from them and it's like a different brand, better fabric, better finishing. also got some stuff from Spexcel, their jerseys are really high quality too, nice fabric, different colors from other chinese brands, got this purple, green and a beige one, all really good the bibs I got one back in 2019 and wasn't a good experience, one of the cheapest with gel padding and in less then 1y I couldn't use it anymore. I've been really curious about their latest launchings, the bibs look nice and seem to have a longer thigh length, but I've already got too many clothes lol This is something that the other brands are lacking, the thigh is a bit short on most, after riding a bit when the bib 'settles in' it looks a bit short.. hope they start launching some longer ones in the future also, something that I've learnt is that many times the cheapest items from each brand are not worth, you can spend a bit more but get much more quality with the mid-top products on these brands the same considering the whole offer of clothing.. like I mentioned in the beginning, those 'replica' jerseys and bibs, and the likes of X-Tiger and other brands that are really cheap, I don't have personal experience but a lot of friends got it and it becomes trash really quick. also worth mentioning, my references are some brazillian brands, which although we have good stuff here, are too expensive and the chinese products are same or better for a lower price. Re: LTWOO RX hydro sets
That Alloy R9 lever + XG caliper bundle is the one to get in my eyes L-TWOO carbon shift levers have a history of breaking and the problem isn't localised to the Hydro, even the Rim brifters have been broken before The problem comes down to the shifting mechanism requiring way too much force to actuate, with that initial shift being the hardest and getting progressively lighter as you multi-shift. I don't think they'll ever meaningfully revise this so just opt for alloy which should hold up better than carbon blades. As for the derailleurs, now that you can get just the levers it's a no-brainer to use Shimano. 105 derailleurs are pretty cheap and flawless while the L-TWOO units are fundamentally just slightly improved versions of the original R7. Slapping a carbon cage on it is like putting lipstick on a pig in my eyes, sure it'll be lighter but the function will still be the same. I'll also choose 11s R9 over 12s RX because the 11 speeds doesn't require as tight in tolerances to shift well. For 12 speeds to shift nicely you should use R7100 Hyperglide chain and cassette at a minimum. April 05, 2023, 09:56:40 AM |

Re: L-TWOO eRX Hydraulic Semi-Wireless Groupset
It's on aliexpress alright. 912 no box 925 w box and I'm seeing 70 shipping. I'm just praying that a pre-production unit doesn't get offloaded abroad and subsequently be cratered in a GCN vid like Wheel Top. April 05, 2023, 09:59:49 AM |

Re: LTWOO RX hydro sets
I'll think about it. Part of me is just lazy to bleed the brakes, hence why I haven't done the install yet! So this might sound like a bodge, but I actually have gotten away with bleeding using just the cone at the top. None of this syringe bleeding business that is demonstrated in the videos. I have gotten effective bleeds just by hooking everything up, putting a bleed cone at the top with oil, and squeezing the brakes a few times until the bubbles stop coming out. It takes a couple of sessions to get to 100% bled, but you get completely usable brakes after the first session, and then the few bubbles trapped in the caliper come up after a couple of shakedown rides. SUPER easy. April 11, 2023, 10:10:31 PM |

Re: Onirii hydraulic flat mount brakes
Reporting back after my first ride with the ZRACE XG calipers hooked up to LTWOO RX. Did a bunch of hill intervals, about 200ft/60m elevation on each, with decently steep terrain--so you could say it's a fair test. Nothing too interesting re: power and modulation. It's about the same as the OEM LTWOO RX brakes. Brakes generate a TON of dust though, compared to the RX. My only point of reference are Shimano XT and Sram Rival hydro brakes (the original iteration)--I would say this setup definitely has better power and modulation compared to those old Sram brakes, and approaches that of the XT brakes. Didn't detect any brake fade. That being said, I've never experienced brake fade, I think you really need to descend a serious mountain to experience that. These brakes are light and look sharp, but I have to say, I am disappointed by how wide they are. They are a full 5mm wider than the LTWOO RX. If you care about marginal gains, these are definitely less aero than the LTWOO calipers, and I think that's nothing to scoff at. Most brakes will hide nicely behind the fork legs, but on the XG calipers, the cylinder port stands proud of the fork's silhouette. Having an extra 5x10mm square section in the wind near the leading edges probably costs a watt or so. Now, the weight is really the big win here. Sub 100g calipers with pads is a big deal. Haven't done a final weigh-in on the bike to see what the improvement is, but I will report back once I do. April 11, 2023, 10:28:33 PM |
