Re: Groupset News
Why can they just do a di2 meets sram style shifters. wired and wireless. I mean if you have a swappable battery box you can easily add on a wired function. Just in case. and the you still need wireless connectivity for computers. Its literally just a wireless protocol. You can also have like and I2c or serial connection via wire. All which run a servo to push pull in changing gears. One could literally build a basic system with like a stm32 chip. linear servo. I really don't know why shimano's and srams systems are sooooo over priced.and why chinese companies dont have a system out yet. Like the parts needed are maybe $30 worth of electronics. at the very most. I dont know how they are $1500 over the standard groupset. Anyways I cant wait for cheaper chinese groupsets. Re: Groupset News
I don't think anyone is expecting the new LTWOO groupset to be as good as Di2/eTap. However, like most budget alternatives, customers seem to still expect 80-90% performance/quality for only half the price. Time and time again this expectation only leads to buyer's remorse. It's the very reason I prefer a 2nd-hand Shimano Ultegra/105 mechanical groupset versus the stuff from both LTWOO and Sensah. Small moving pieces and components leave more room for failure than, say, a static Chinese bike frame. March 19, 2023, 03:21:35 PM |

Re: Custom Waltly Titanium 29er
I've emailed some pictures to Waltly and they have been very responsive. They have offered a discount on a new frame rather than shipping this one back but I haven't been told what that discount will be yet. My wife does want a gravel bike to replace her Trek Domane so I'll have to see what my options are. I'm just happy that Waltly isn't ghosting me and they are trying to come up with a solution. Much better than some of the horror stories on here of various carbon vendors.

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc!
New level of nightmare cable routing unlocked. Saw a bike fit video of the legit ones on youtube and the odd shapes really make sense ergonomically. After seeing the price ($400) I naturally went to see if there's an ali version. I've only seen something that kinda resembles their all road bar. March 31, 2023, 11:47:43 AM |

Custom Waltly Ti road bike - "Alberta Clipper"
First inquired with Waltly at the end of January. Dealt with Sumi. She was very responsive and friendly. Submitted my plans and made down payment in early February. Drawings were approved a few days later. Just received my frame, along with a carbon fork and titanium seatpost and stem last weekend and put it together. Some pics of the build process: Frame and parts Build pics Finished product: Total price came out to about US$1300, including frame, frame logos, fork, FSA headset, titanium stem, titanium seatpost, and Chinese domestic shipping. Build went relatively smoothly, though installing the internal cabling was a pain and I had to bodge the front derailleur cable run a bit because I didn't notice on my original drawing that the front derailleur cable hole in the frame was only suitable for Di2 cabling and certainly not for compressionless cable housing. Weight including pedals came to about 9.3kg. Parts used for the build all came from Taobao, including: - PRO Vibe Aero handlebar - Giant Fleet SL saddle - Giant bar tape - Ultegra R8000 shifters and derailleurs - 105 11-32 cassette, 105 chain - Stone 50-34 chainrings - Sigeyi AXO power meter (110 BCD) and crank - Shimano SPD-M520 pedals - Onirii cable-actuated hydraulic disk brakes - Jagwire cables, housings, and 160mm centre lock disk rotors - Timibike handbuild 50mm carbon wheels with DT Swiss DT350 hubs Super satisfied with the result. The frame and sandblasted logos looks great. Bike is a perfect fit for me (obviously!) and feels great to ride - super quick, too, as I went for a 25km ride this morning and averaged 34km/h! Can't wait to put more distance on it. April 13, 2023, 08:46:23 AM |

Re: WheelTop EDX OS Series Wireless MTB Drivetrain
Yup, that's intellectual "property for you" . They even claim monopolies on colors, and both sram and shimano are very aggressive on patents. Not to get too political but the consumer really suffers from this bullshit

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc!
Yep, no idea yet what is the minimum/maximum casette range it takes. If it works with the 10-50/51/52 it could be a good option. The derrailleur looks a bit more plasticky than the ltwoo, but not sure how performance wise it compares to it. It looks to be a new design though. Also there looks to be a lock mechanism on the RD now. For a 1x setup, this looks to be a really good value. Plus I'd rather have Sensah's shifting versus LTwoo's thumb trigger or deal with their shoddy electronic groupset. September 27, 2023, 12:18:50 PM |

Re: Groupset News
Does anyone know what the max cassette is on the Sensah Empire HRD 11 speed? I can't seem to find it on the product page on aliexpress. The design doesn't seem to have changed compared to the rim brake version and it looks like medium cage length is the only option, so 11-34t is the max capacity. September 29, 2023, 03:52:51 PM |

Winspace G2 (Light Do it all bike)
Here is my 99% completed Winspace g2. I have to redo the rear derailleur housing, I should have ran it all the way through to the back but didn't. Theyre not meant for fully internal mechanical routing, but it can be done. This is my 4th "Chinese Carbon" frame set and it is by far the best (5th on the way). The build quality is as good as one can ask for. I had no issues building it, everything was faced nicely, no issue with the headset bearing seats. Which is the weak spot for "Chinese" frames, you can always just shove a BB in if it's not quite right. If the headset seats are done too poorly the frame is basically trash. The paint finish is great, there's a few spots here and there that aren't the cleanest. However I can say the same for my Matte canyon and Evil frames. You can only be so picky before one is just being unreasonable. Built this as a comfortable do it all bike, loved the round seat post, threaded BB, plenty of mounts and loads of tire clearance. It turned into a "lightweight" build half way through. Without sacrificing usability of the bike or going with super expensive components. Im very happy with the bike given its build quality, weight and price. Total weight came out to 6.82kg with pedals, cages, and an ass saver to offset the fact that I didn't have bar tape. The build came out to ~$3100, there's a few hundred grams to be saved, but I would have to replace components with ones 3-6x the cost of the existing one. This is the perfect middle ground in my opinion. Build List; Winspace G2 Medium: $1080 Light Bicycle AR25 with Bitex Hubs:$864 (1080grams) Elilee XXE Crankset 165mm: $320 (296grams!!) Wolf Tooth 38t Chain Ring: $30, used (77grams) Ltwoo GRT with ZRace brake Calipers: $305 Sram XPLR 12-71 Cassette: $100 New take off Zitto Chain: $26 Onirii 160mm Rotors: $40/pair (102g) Aliexpress Seatpost: $26 (136g) EggBeater 1 Pedals with Titanium Spindles: $70 (240grams) Ryet 3D Carbon Saddle (163grams) Lexon/Ryet Gravel Bars: $124 Carbon Bottle Cages: $16/pair (16grams each) Carbon Seatpost clamp:$15 (5grams) Panaracer Gravel King Slick 37c: free (bike bin) FSA Bottom Bracket: Free (bike bin) TPU Gravel Tubes: $8 Bar Tape: $6 Titanium Bolts: $40 Rode it around the block and it felt great! Just need to redo the housing and finish my other bike (which has an interesting issue) before the other one arrives. January 09, 2024, 01:42:55 AM |
