Re: ProX carbon wheels (LightCarbon)
I just ordered a wheelset. Communication was fast. I'll post some pics once it arrives.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-066 Rim brake (not dead yet?)
Wow, sub 7Kg!…. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out with interest! My biggest thing with any Chinese bike frame is make sure they are trying to do their own thing. by this i mean they they are trying to make thier own brand or make a name for themselves. the fake Pinarello bikes are a prime example of what to avoid. i feel it is one thing to copy frame geometry and design ideas vs trying to fool people into thinking they are getting the real thing. If they have their own website and are using their own name they generally i have had good luck. the only time i have heard of (never had issues myself but i dont buy imitations) issues is with the frames that are trying to look real for 50% the price. I have always just bought the frames and then sourced the other parts elsewhere. i am a bit of a weight weenie so i usually search for lighter options than the frame companies have. the few times i have gone with bars or stems though they have worked great for the limited time they were on my bikes. Re: Velobuild VB-R-066 Rim brake (not dead yet?)
Good to see the bike built up, look forard too hearing your on road review once you have the opportunity / weather to be able to get out. Yes, the bike that this velobuild frame is replacing is a GT GTR elite frame with the Sensah Empire Pro 2x12 group set. It was the full group set with the CVR hard rock crankset. I was actually quite impressed with it over all. Runs very quiet while on the trainer and shifts well. I would be lying if I didn't say there was a definite difference between the Sensah and my Dura Ace group but the is. However, if I were looking at spending the 700$ or so for a 105 group set I would really have to think twice about the Sensah. It is really good. It would be even harder if you are used to or prefer the Sram shifting method. I am really in love with how Shimano shift so I know that makes me bias but if you are a Sram guy already then I would say go Sensah. A friend build a gravel bike with the SRX group set and I built it up for him. Same basic comments there as well. Super impressed and it works really well. That was the main driver of me getting the empire set. If you have any questions please let me know. Happy to answer. February 26, 2023, 09:54:29 AM |

Full bike pic. Don’t judge the odd tires. Just needed something to measure clearances. 30mm tires of any flavor are hard to come by. Seems to be a popular size.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-066 Rim brake (not dead yet?)
Cool. Well I went out for a proper ride yesterday and very happy with the 066. The only issue was seat post moving a bit (I’ve used carbon paste and torqued correctly, so not sure what more I can do at the mo). Had the same problem with my OG-Evkin CF-025 which appears to be the same mold. Used a small piece of this type of fiberglass mesh tape between the wedge and the seatpost combined with carbon paste and no more problems. https://www.usg.com/content/usgcom/en/products/floors-tile/tile-prep/tape-screws-paper/durock-tile-backer-tape.html April 10, 2023, 09:12:58 AM |

Re: 2023 VeloBuild CX-002 Cyclocross Frame
Well, we are getting a week long heat wave in the mid west USA, so it’s time to paint! I’m going to do this in 3 stages: matte clear over carbon (below); base, mid, gloss clear; then stripes and clear. Here you can see the rough black and white theme though. More to come. The Pathfinder Pro 38’s are finally back in stock in some places, so I was able to snag a set. April 10, 2023, 06:49:52 PM |

Re: Velobuild VB-R-177
Finished up my 177 build a couple of weeks ago and have been making a few final aesthetic touches. Overall, really happy with how it turned out and how it rides. Zero issues putting the build together. Moved most of the parts over from my 168 except for the Magene Exar Ultra wheels which are new, carbon saddle from AliX and tubeless version of the Goodyear Eagle F1s I was running prior (which were constantly getting flats btw). VeloBuild VB-R-177 frame Magene EXAR Ultra 50/58 wheelset Magene P325CS Dual PM Hammerhead Karoo 2 computer Magene L508 radar light ZTTO BB86 threaded ceramic BB MIXED Ultra Light 7D MAX Carbon Saddle 140MM Goodyear Eagle F1 tubeless tires 11sp Di2 frankenmix L-TWOO ospw Really happy I made the switch, the 177 is not only a bit lighter but the main highlight coming over from the 168 I would say is how much stiffer it feels. I also like that although I think it's modelled after a Scott Addict, it looks a bit more unique given how common the SL7 which the 168 is designed after is. I think it's Velobuilds best road frame. Currently using the original HB011 bars from my 168 which I'm considering swapping as it's the only piece with noticeable flex now that I have a stiffer frame and wheels. Only issue I had was that the moulding where the rear hanger outer piece goes seems to have some excess material, which changes the angle of the thread a bit and make the TA screw in a bit tougher than it should be. Aside from that, everything was smooth. https://imgur.com/mtYh8Sh https://imgur.com/mdJxEXI https://imgur.com/tvRp4Ns https://imgur.com/NpP7zyz https://imgur.com/KhaujkN https://imgur.com/pW3z35v June 09, 2023, 06:29:13 PM |
