Re: Carbonda Cfr 1056
I decided to scrap the 27.5s it was just too tight. The 37mm measured 700c fit fine. I put Rene Herse bon jon pass 35c in the rear on internal 24mm wheel they measure 37mm and stelicom pass 38c on the front measure to 37mm on an internal 19mm wheel. So happy with how this carbonda turned out October 22, 2021, 04:07:31 PM |

Re: Carbonda Cfr 1056
Thanks. I finally got out on a ride working full time and two kids makes it difficult to get out. It rides pretty good I don't have a ton to compare it to. On gravel it's def a bit bumpier than my rondo ruut I had previous with 650b x 2.2 tires. But on road it feels really good compared to the rondo. I only did a 12 mile ride and my seatpost came loose by the end so I need to put some more carbon paste I guess. But over happy with it. Also it's a chain stay for forbidden druid MTB

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
Perhaps you could try a different/longer compression plug, which might have less chance of slipping? Maybe this one: Thanks man, that's exactly what I did. So, for anyone having issues like me. A longer compression plug solved the issue for me. I used this: PRO Headset expansion nut for carbon steerer tubes, 50mm, 1 1/8 inch https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00NJYGTQS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The compression plug sits a bit lower than a standard ones, so it doesn't provide as much support for the top stem bolt clamping the steerer tube, but shouldn't be too much of an issue. It's still not as stable as my other Velobuild (R-177), but it's much better now. January 12, 2022, 04:50:58 AM |

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
I have a couple of road races coming up with significant amounts of gravel sections, so I have been trying to maximize the tire space in the frame. The split for one race is around 15% tame gravel/85% asphalt and 45% tame gravel / 55% asphalt for the other. I have been looking for high volume road tyres with lower rolling resistance compared to gravel tires. I currently have Vittoria Terreno Zero's in 32c and they are very puncture resistant but noticeably slower than a road tire (as it probably should be). Very good if there is a high risk of punctures or a need for more grip. Schwalbe have a 34c model of their Pro One Evo TLE which I picked up. I mounted them on Light Bicycle WR45's which are 25mm internal (hooked). They measure 33,5mm. Surprisingly there is still a bit of space. Obviously they are narrower than advertised but it probably also has to do with the lack of knobs and that the wide rim gives the tire a lower profile. I would say if you have wide rims the bike could probably handle a 35mm WAM slick tire if you can live with minimal mud clearance. Anyone wanna sponser me some Rene Herse Bon Jon Pass ? Lightcarbon LCG071-D Build
Recently upgraded my primary gravel bike (CruX) to AXS components so I had this perfectly good sram force1 mechanical group just sitting around. Decided to purchase a Lightcarbon “monster” gravel frame with integrated bars. First off, all communications with Wendy at Lightcarbon were detailed, prompt, and informative. Took about 3 weeks from order date to having the frame at my doorstep in Michigan. Built the bike up completely with spare parts around my little bike mechanic area (had to buy bottom bracket and the 700x50c tires) The bike currently has red cannondale stickers on it as I had those laying around my shop and wanted to get an idea of how the red/black theme would look. New custom red Lightcarbon decals are ordered and expected any day. Have about 400 miles on the bike so far and absolutely love it. Crisp handling, stiff and responsive yet quite compliant on rough and loose/rocky gravel. My CruX is notably faster at similar watts, however, the Lightcarbon would be my choice for a ride lasting longer than 3-3.5 hours. Excited to get the bike on some single track soon. Re: Frame painters of Chinertown! How would you go about achieving this finish??
Looks like a glossy fade into a satin or matte paint. I would assume paint the glossy frist. and then the matte/satin. But maybe its the other way around.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
That was me with the gk ss 32mm. I couldn't get my clement(donnelly) 33mm pdx and mxp cx tires to work. The side knobs rubbed fork and chainstays.

Re: Spcycle New Mold G056 Carbon Gravel Frame
Can you share some pics? What size did you get? Size Medium + 420/100 mm handlebar. I'm 5'11" or 180cm with 83 cm inseam. I've choose medium because it's close to my carbonda 696 in 54 cm size. December 08, 2022, 04:30:00 AM |

Re: Velobuild GF-002
My build is finally complete. Might be of interest to some as it's a full Aliexpress/China build: GF-002, Elite wheels, Sensah SRX groupset, Juin Tech F1 brakes. I’ve been interested in building up an open mould frame for a while, so with the price of new bikes and the second hand market getting a bit crazy (at least when I started ordering) this seemed like a good time to try. The headset
Overall, very happy with it so far - but haven't put enough miles on it to give it a proper review. Total cost about $2.7k AUD/$1.8kUSD. December 22, 2022, 09:54:11 PM |
