Re: Spcycle hardtail M028
Well, it arrived a week ago and I managed to get it built up over the weekend, and ridden a little. it's the XL, 21", measures up 20.25" centre BB to top of seat tube. Bought via aliexpress, ordered 29th April, but ordered it painted so expected a bit more of a delay. finally delivered 13th June, though it should have been a few days before but parcelforce in the UK are rubbish. I was a bit late getting it built as it needed a boost chainring. Thought I may get away without, as I have with a few boost frames, but no, non boost hits the chainstay. Even with boost there's only a couple of mm clearance when running a 34T, wouldn't want to go bigger/oval, but think the recommended max for the frame is 32T anyway. This also means that the boost wheel adapters for 142 wheels doesn't really work that well and the chain drops when on the large sprocket. Normally not a problem, just use another spacer on the disc, move both axle spacers over to disc side and re-dish, that is unless you have the centrelock boost adapter, like me, then you can't shift the disc over any further :-/ it'll need a proper boost wheel then.... Anyway, not a bling build, all parts I've had on various bikes over the years. mostly XT, mix of 10 speed cassette, 11 speed mech, and 11 speed sram gripshift, manitou minute's at 120mm that need a reshim as they're set to a very basic trail damping (one of the great things about ABS+ damper is tunability) Rides like a bike. short stays are a bonus, makes it easy to lift up and over things. Relatively roomy, have a 80mm stem in there, but will play about with different ones to see what works best. Steering with the 120mm forks is quite neutral, though I'll need to see what it's like once I've fettled the forks a bit more to give me a little more support. Broke a couple of strava PR's, on descents and traverses, so pretty capable. I've not got the legs to better some of my climbing PR's, but it's quick all round and feels solid under power. ;-) June 23, 2022, 03:49:15 AM |

Re: Chinese Carbon 29er Pic Thread.
My Tantan FM199 Boost. Comes in about 11.5kg with certain specific component choices that do add weight, like the dropper post, the cheap wheels, and pedals.

My 2022 Tantan FM199-B-SL XC Hardtail build
So, finished building this about two weeks ago. It's almost identical to a Specialized Epic, save for some minor differences in geometry. 2022 Tantan FM199-B-SL. Bought from Tantan off eBay. Frame came in about a week and a half to Colorado. Was shipped from China and not a more local warehouse/ Full build weight is currently right about 26 lbs, 11.8kg. I could get this down to probably 11kg with different aluminum wheels, no dropper post, and a couple other minor component changes, but I don't care enough. I could see this bike being built under 10 kg without a lot of trouble. I think the bigger thing I made note of is that the routing of the dropper post cable seems like it takes a rather tight bend. And also, you cannot use a big dropper like some 150 or 170mm droppers on this. They just won't fit due to the seat tube not being straight, so it won't drop all the way in and then you'll be limited to a minimum seat mounting height that will probably be too long. If you use a standard seat post or a shorter dropper post, you shouldn't have any issues. Which is what I ended up doing only AFTER I bought a longer dropper post. So word of warning there. Having 3 cables routed internally means I didn't need to block any part of the port that goes into the frame. The head set fit well enough. Derailleur hanger and thru axle are fine. And the bottom bracket, while press fit, is doing just fine. I do want to make note of the fact that getting the crankset to fit wasn't the easiest and required a bit of extra effort to get it to go through far enough. Basically, the BB shell is is actually closer to 92.5mm instead of 92.0mm. This is probably the biggest oversight in the construction of the frame. It made fitting the Shimano crankset difficult and I wonder if it will impact the longevity of the BB bearings. Other crankset attachment methods that use a wavy washer or other preload methods like SRAM DUB won't have any issues, I don't think. Note: Rear brake mount is flat mount and NOT post mount. With no adapter, it fits 140mm rear brakes, which is what I have on it right now. And it fits nicely as is. I haven't actually tried to lock up the rear brakes. Component spec: RockShox Pike, 120mm, bought used, it's a 2019 model, but not lot of mileage. 160mm brake rotors. Shimano MT600 wheelset Conti RaceKing Protection in 29x2.2 - Note here: these are wicked fast tires. Get yourselves a set! SLX 7100 crank SLX 7100 brake levers SLX 7100 post mount front brake caliper Deore XT M8110 flat mount rear brake caliper - Note here: This was a planned buy and didn't catch me off guard here, but honestly I didn't need this caliper, you can buy any flat mount, like, even a Shimano 105 or Tiagra road spec. Pro Tharsis 100mm dropper - the dropper level integrates into the SLX brake lever, which is really nice. Deore XT M8000 rear derailleur Deore M5100 shifter - Note here: I originally had the Deore XT M8000 shifter, but it did not fit right with the new SLX brake levers. This 11 spd shifter does though. SLX7000 11-46 cassette I'm currently on a 65mm stem and I'm thinking of switching to an 80 or 90mm stem, but we'll see. Non-frame issues I encountered which are, admittedly my fault: So, I originally planned to reuse a Deore XT M8000 shifter, derailleur, and SLX 11spd 11-46 cassette, which is why I went with the MT600 wheelset instead of anything else. It worked with some of the stuff I already had. Downside is, as I mentioned, the shifter doesn't work with the new SLX(or higher spec) brake levers. It doesn't fit right. You can technically still shift it, but it's awkward as hell to use the knuckle on your pointer finger to shifter down the cassette instead of using the tip of you pointer finger like normal. So, I switched to the Deore M5100 shifter, which, is okay. I can't shift up the cassette as many gears in one swing of it, which I don't like, but it's not a deal breaker. It works, it fits, it's fine. If I upgrade my wheels later on, I might swap shifter/derailleur as well. Overall, I'm happy with it so far with the limited riding I've been able to do. I have a couple things to be mindful of long term, but I think it's going to make a great XC race bike this year. January 24, 2023, 01:36:51 AM |

Re: Carbonda FM-1306A a 69° Hardtail
Hi all First post here. Have been following for a little while to get advice and inspiration for a new build, which I finished yesterday. So thought I’d contribute with info and experience in case useful/interesting for others. Build list: - FM1306a XL in RAL 1015 (light ivory) - XMCarbonspeed wheelbuild KAS930C 29er T800 on DT Swiss 350 with Sapim - Fox step cast 32 - Formula cura brakes - SLX cranks, rear mech, XT chain, BB - ZRACE chainring - Sunshine cassette 10-50 - BikeYoke Divine SL dropper - Selcof bars - ZTTO XC stem - Barzo tyres - Cheap, light Ali saddle - Risk grips and seat clamp - Ritchey headset - XT pedals Weight 9.68Kg including cage and Garmin mount. Dealing with Wing at Carbonda was great - really helpful and quick communication. The frame and paint quality seems first-rate, can’t find any faults at all. Likewise Peter at XMCarbonspeed. And the wheels arrived with me in the UK about 10 days after I paid for them - super fast! Most of the Ali stuff looks decent, albeit yet to ride. The Sunshine cassette seemed harder to index than it should have been. The bar plugs that came with the Risk grips broke when fitting them. Otherwise all looks good. I replaced the top section of the headset that Carbonda supplied with a Ritchey 1,1/2 to 1,1/8, based on feedback on another thread. I’ll chop off the rest of the steerer once I’ve dialled the position - I think the -20 degree ZTTO stem might be a bit too aggressive…. Photos hopefully attached! April 12, 2023, 02:24:59 AM |

Re: Carbonda FM-1306A a 69° Hardtail
The build is finished. Easy riding fun bike.. no competition and no competitive riding. The exact height will be adjusted as soon I can handle the bike over. I expect that I can take out most of the spacers. Unfortunately the SID has malfunction in the lockout... I must go into communication with the shop. Guess it's just a matter of time to get that fixed. Today I took the grips and put them to my 909 I must order them again.. had some pain in the wrist, which is gone with this grips May 06, 2023, 03:25:11 PM |

Re: Airwolf YFM053 build
Bit of an update: Got a really great deal on a Pike Ultimate 120mm with 44mm rake so I decided to try it out. Had to switch to 180mm rotor out front so everything added about 2 kg/ 4.4 lbs to the build. Fork installation was a breeze until I realized the massive damper adjuster knob wouldn't clear the downtube by a hair . A frantic internet search yielded a +3mm crown race from Cane Creek (BAA0855K). Bye bye clean flush headtube/fork junction but nice to know I won't crack my downtube with a metal knob. I've also since changed the headset to a Cane Creek 40 after noticing the stock headset wouldn't stop clunking - The stock IS headset needed/doesn't have a shim spacer. Went with a full new headset as price was fairly reasonable. I loved how the bike handled before with the rigid carbon fork, but it's now a darn sweet playful whipper. May 21, 2023, 02:12:25 AM |

Re: New xc build 100mm
I don't know anything about Ceccotti quality, but the geometry does not include head angle, which is a bit strange. The 135mm Ceccotti is 69.5 degrees, oldschool geometry. But your 2015 frame was probably the same. Pressfit bottom bracket is a problem for some, I personally think it is ok. Requires the proper tools. Everything else looks pretty normal to me.

Re: New xc build 100mm
Are you located in Europe? There are some transporters you can ask the seller that can help for a smooth shipping. Just ask, they know. I'm a fan of Carbonda for their quality and service, look for the model FM1306A But there was just a post recently about an ultralight Spcycle that looks and nice. Both can be found in the 29er section here August 13, 2023, 01:28:05 PM |

A beautiful set of handlebar for sure You should avoid Og-evkin stuff if possible. You can read my experience with these liars here: http://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,4344.msg48354.html#msg48354 August 14, 2023, 02:02:05 PM |
