Appreciate the perspective — but let’s not confuse price with spec.

I’m not chasing logos or paying retail markups. I’m not building a wall ornament either. This is a focused, research-driven build exploring the upper edge of OEM capabilities:
   •   EPS molding only (no bladders)
   •   Layups with verified high-modulus zones
   •Target frame weight under 800g
   •Confirmed geometry, tolerances and molding method

That’s a different pursuit from buying generic shells and crossing fingers.
If someone wants a $500 gravel beater and sleeps well at night — good for them.

But saying “there’s no real difference” between a carefully engineered layup and a random bladder-molded replica? That only shows you’ve never studied real layups up close — let alone cracked one open.

And sure, if I already knew everything about the OEM world, I’d clearly not be here asking smart people for help, right?
Anyway, cool story about your friend having trauma over his S-Works. Sounds like he needs a therapist more than a new bike;)

There’s not a significant gap between OEMs and major brands, as it’s typically the OEMs who handle most of the testing and product development—even for well-known brands. While a few larger brands may lead their own design work, they still often rely on the expertise of Chinese OEM engineers.

In reality, most brands don’t manufacture anything themselves; their main role is marketing, packaging, and selling the products developed and produced by OEMs.

I think it's quite an aggressive claim to be honest, but I do believe before you make a purchase it's good to do your own research. If I had a chance to do it again, I would probably also take another seller that is known for a nicer and smoother internal build, however I want to make a point that it is not exploding or cracking or what so ever. I'm riding it, 3 to 4 times a week and it's holding firmly, steady, solid, it's fast, etc., even with all the "fake" stuff that is not done here on the forum.

So I'm still happy with my Taiwan Factory Bike Parts Store replica factor frame, that everyone should avoid!

Re: Replica Factor Ostro VAM Li at Polar, like most sellers, claims to have the best quality frames. And they have only kits started selling that Ostro after finishing its ‘development’.


A few people on the forum have bought his SL8, and the finishing looks excellent—the frame weights are also very close to the genuine version.
The frames come with a copy Darimo seatpost and bar.

I purchased the Nexum Drag copy and can say the quality is also very good. However, one issue I found was with the stem bolts: they’re aluminium, and the head of one snapped during installation. Aluminium isn’t great for bolts, so I swapped them for titanium. I was offered replacements but declined, and suggested they consider using steel or titanium instead.

One other point worth noting: Polar and RK Ultra—also trading under the names Mirror Carbon Fibre and First Class—are actually sourcing their frames from the same place.

I’ve done it on the last few builds, replica frames but with high end components. I strangely like the juxtaposition of the two and also I get bored of bikes quickly so buying replica frames allows me to have a new bike each year without worrying about how much depreciation I would have lost if I’d have bought genuine ones
