although you're right you do hear more about dengfu/hongfu. in anycase, i have two from velobuild. purchased r 099 late last year and purchased their gravel frame gr01 last month( build post coming soon  ;D). both have been amazing to ride on

granted ive put a only a couple hundred miles on the gr01 so far but i take it down steep MTB trails, its been really fun and has held up well carrying me, im 104kg . put a lot more on the r099 , id have to double check but maybe close to 1k but in any case its been great. super fast frame and feels plenty stiff when i mess around on sprints with my buddies.

you'll read about it everywhere and its not an exaggeration, chris and his customer service has been amazing. plus i get my frames super fast from them. china to california. i think it was about 3 weeks for the road frame and 1 week for the gravel frame. i  was actually very surprised when the gravel frame came in. exactly 7 days after i paid, i went to check to see if chris had emailed me a tracking number and it was literally on my doorstep 20min later. i thought it was my super late tan tan frame but nope, was the second velobuild frame.

i really dont like advertising for companies nor reviewing anything but when you have had such extreme experiences with these companies( from my terrible time with tan tan to an amazing purchase experience with velobuild), i feel it necessary to at least provide my thoughts.  i would say save the money ,go with velobuild and ride with some peace of mind knowing its just as good as the other guys.

front brake in front of the fork to the right
rear brake on the left side of the fork just a few cm above the front brake cable

turning now is very smooth, just if i turn the handelbar 90° there is a little bit of scratching

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame Thanks! I'm waiting on a R8000 crank to arrive so it can match the PM on the other side (still keeping the AbsoluteBlack chainring), some decals and new tubeless tires.

So far I've found the axles to work really well, no complaints there. They are hex and not torx as I think I saw at some point?

The pictures show some pretty damn decent clearance I have to say. I have seen a Tarmac SL7 mounted with tires that measure 34mm and this looks every bit as capable. I am thinking about buying a set of Vittoria Terreno Zero 32c since they are very puncture resistant and still works well on the tarmac. Should be great as a winter wheelset too.
I will definitely show the result here.

I'm still wrestling with the back tire but may have sealed the side cut by taking off the wheel and rotating it so enough sealant get to it.

Intrigued about the ability to put thicker cx/gravel like tires on this frame!

Reach is almost non-adjustable. You can slide you seat back a forth a bit but its the wrong way of doing it. The only real solution is a new handlebar. 

Stack is more flexible with spacers. You can start high and remove a few over time if you feel more confident.

Im pretty sure 56 was the right choice.

VB-R-168 Build- A sceptic's experience Hello all.

I am located in USA so all of the links below may not work for you. This is just an overview of my experience and what I found while building the new bike. I purchased a VB-R-168 frame, integrated bars, VB-60 carbon wheels, and the rest of the components needed to make it a rolling machine :D. Before I start, I wanted to say I was very sceptical of this purchase and worried that it would not turn out as good as it did. Chris from VB is very helpful and responsive. The good-
The frame, bars, and forks came within two weeks (to USA). The wheels took longer because I requested 350 straight pull hubs. Everything went together nicely (I definitely recommend using carbon paste and torque wrench). Getting the cables through the frame and bars was reasonably difficult, but not too bad. The bike is all together and I have a few rides under my belt. Great bike, stiff, fast. Definitely a great bike for the price. I hate when my bikes are noisy from cable rattle, etc... so I made sure I took all necessary precautions when building this one. The end result is pretty great considering the price point.

The not so great-
The seat post has slipped on me (it may not do this if you are smaller. I am 220 lbs-100 kg). I found adding more carbon paste and upping the torque setting slightly definitely helps. The wheels took a bit longer due to covid and my customizations which isn't the end of the world. The aero bars may be too aero for some. I purchased the VB separate stem and bar combo to replace the integrated bars- that hasn't arrived yet. I left the steerer tube slightly long to add spacers later on.
