Re: Any idea of Serenadebikes carbon wheelset?
I like the rim depth, 40mm is uncommon, I imagine it's a bit better in crosswinds than 45mm which can be a little much sometimes in strong wind. The weight is also pretty amazing for that depth. I'm ambivalent to the inner width, I'm on 21mm internal right now for 40mm gravel tires, I think they are fine. I don't like the large decals or the brand name to be honest. Chinese brand names always sound strange to Westerners in my opinion, like some random word is just picked out of a hat. I kind of want some Chinese brand with Chinese characters on it instead of Greek alphabet, I think that'd be a pretty interesting look. June 20, 2024, 01:15:19 PM |

Re: Serenade 4550 Wavy Wheelset SUB 1200g steel spokes 500USD
Mine arrived on 02.04.2025, ordered on 12.03.2025. Communication via WhatsApp was very good, also regarding technical questions (for instance, I wanted to know if and which third-party freehubs are compatible, DT Swiss are, which now I can confirm ...). Weight is 1226 g (with SRAM freehub), which is a bit disappointing, as I was also hoping for a sub 1200 g wheelset. At the moment they are set up with GP5000s and ridenow tubes. Mountain tires, rotors, freehub, etc. went smoothly.

Re: Serenade 4550 Wavy Wheelset SUB 1200g steel spokes 500USD
ceramic bearings make no sense. Don't buy them. Even a ceramic bearing can rust, since the bearing shells are made of steel. Steel bearing is also fine. As long as you use enough greace, everything is perfect also with steel bearings. Most of the wheelssets have nearly no greace. Therefore directly after you receive them, apply more greace under the end caps. Then you will have less problems in winter time. For 30/32mm tires I would also prefer 24/25 inner wide. ![]() There are some rims from Serenade with 24mm, see picture. Than you need light hubs like SR268 and the CX-Ray. The external rotating mass must be as small as possible. So the rim is most important. Followed by the Spokes. Of course a carbon spoke is light, but it is hard to replace them. The CX Ray is a reliable and high-quality spoke. May 31, 2026, 12:22:18 PM |

Re: Serenade 4550 Wavy Wheelset SUB 1200g steel spokes 500USD
Ordered the 60mm X-weave ones. 21mm internal, so stone-age according to some, but they look stunning to me. 539 eur with shipping and taxes included to Europe. Ordered today (15.06), was in contact with Wendy, who said turnaround would be around 15 days with another 2 weeks for shipping. I asked for pictures before shipping, so let's see if they're able to facilitate that. Will post opinion and review once received

Re: Serenade 4550 Wavy Wheelset SUB 1200g steel spokes 500USD
Received my wheels today. Package was nice and secure, came with tubeless valves, 2 spare spokes and tubeless tape. On my scale the weight was 1430g (-10g from their own spec sheet) before tape. Total time: Ordered on - 15.June Shipped out on - 20. July (35 days) Received on - 30. July (10 days) As you can see the shipping took a lot longer than the initial promise of 15 days, additionally there was radio silence on their end over the delay - I had to be the one to provoke to get answers. Other than that, initial impressions are very good and I got exactly what I was after. The delay to be honest was expected (seems to be the norm, rather than exception on this forum in general). Will keep this thread updated as time goes on and riding impressions. July 30, 2026, 07:43:23 AM |

Wide and deep 650b gravel wheelset
Good morning, I tried a quick search but couldn't find anything on the topic. I'm looking for a wide and deep (something similar to the Zipp XPLRs) set of 650b rims on a budget. I've looked at the usual suspects (Farsport, Lightbicycle, Light Carbon, ... ) but I don't seem to find any. I know people like to dislike this option, but I want to make a 1 bike - 2 wheelsets setup for my gravel bike and I'm missing a 650b wheelset for it. It looks like 650b rims have fallen off favour in the last few years, but I do think that they make sense in certain situations, mine certainly, in order to maintain the same geometry when swapping from a 700c wheel with road tire to a 650b wheel set with a wide gravel tire + to maintain enough tire clearance with a 2x setup. Any help is greatly appreciated. August 26, 2026, 01:03:54 AM |
