Re: How I painted my frame
Initial Preparation The first step was to fully disassemble the frame. I removed all of the screws, grommets, and fittings. The cable access hatch under the bottom bracket was also removed so that I could paint it separately. I did leave the cable guides in, however. I then masked the frame to minimize the amount of water that could get in while wet sanding it. I mostly used cheap painter’s masking tape (the blue stuff) to cover the bottom bracket, seat tube, and head tube holes. There’s no need to be really neat about this as long as the holes are plugged. I also masked the serial number to protect it from sanding. To keep the sludge out of the bosses, I put old bolts into all of the screw holes. I left the heads sticking up a bit so that I could sand all the way up to the hole. Sanding was the next step. Using 500 grit wet-or-dry sandpaper, I sanded the entire frame. I frequently wet the sandpaper in a bucket of water to keep it from clogging with dust. It also helps to change the sandpaper frequently. I then followed up with 1000 grit sandpaper to ensure a smooth surface. I did not go all the way down to the bare carbon, although it was exposed in some places. The UD coating is fairly durable and seals the carbon, so I don’t think it’s essential to remove all of it. How many dollars did you get the frame set? Are you satisfied with its performance? Is the frame rigid?I ordered it with HB088 integrated handlebar. No painting. I ordered delivery from China and paid 888$(817€ after currency exchange on Revolut) for everything. Frame(w/ small discount of 20$) - 729$ Shipping to Slovakia & taxes - 127$ Bank fee - 32$ Interestingly, the full price would be 954€(w/o small discount) if ordered delivery from Germany. So far, I’m very happy with the purchase and the whole build. It was my first time building a bike and it was a bit more complicated than I initially thought. In the end very satisfying tho. The vast majority of non-bonded carbon spokes come from STREN, including all the western brands that use such carbon spokes (Cadex, Scope, Newmen, Black inc, Hunt and more). Winspace were one of the first to use them in mass production. Farsports make their own that they provide to some other brands. Lightbicycle might be making their own as well, not sure. I've heard conflicting things about CRW. CC Joe made it sound like they're a CRW in-house product but another wheel manufacturer says they also come from stren. Komcas (Superteam) has one design to make 1cm wide spokes that I haven't seen anywhere else. These spokes all require special hub and nipple interfaces due to the way the carbon fibres are locked with the metal parts. They are all much stronger than steel spokes and very impact resistant. There is another type, which tries to emulate regular steel spoke interfaces by bonding the metal parts with the carbon in order to be able to use regular nipples and hubs. This type of design was implemented very poorly by Lightbicycle early on and their were spokes notoriously failure prone. Some customers recieved their wheels with almost all the spokes debonded from their intefaces out of the box. There is an improved version of this type of design that mitigates this by introducing barbs and some other stuff inside the metal bits to better retain the carbon. I haven't heard of failures with these but it is a fundamentally inferior design at the end of the day. I have absolutely no idea who makes them but they're available through Nextie, Aliexpress, EIE, Deerobust and others. They offer no advantage beyond compatibility with traditional hubs and I wouldn't use them over good steel spokes, tiny weight saving be damned. No6 wheels are Farsports through and through, I could email Farsports right now and I could have my order in production by tommorrow with the exact same parts as No6 for a little more than half the price. They are not the only marketing brand doing this. I saw another yesterday and I thing there are at least another two I don't remember and probably several more I haven't heard of. I was also asking because I don't see carbon spokes available on xmcarbonspeed website but I have a hard time imagining how they could get to that weight without them. I have the VeloBuild GF-002 as well and love it. I'm curious about the CX-002 though, which is technically a cross bike but could work as a fast gravel build.

I bought the H303 recently. I tried it first and it didn't work. I had to push it from behind on the battery cover in order to start flashing a bit. I then opened it and applied some left over self-adhesive thin foam on the battery cover, which then pressed the battery tightly and now the HR meter works no problem. Was a bit frustrated at the beginning tho, not gonna lie. I hardly suggest you to fold a little the copper contact instead of put any spacer to the battery.
