that's a really low average speed given the D+. If you put Conti GP5000 tyres instead of these Kenda, you will probably go a lot faster for the same effort. Either tubeless, or run with aliexpress TPU tubes. The bike will also feel much nicer to ride. Pretty much guaranteed. Upgrading from poor tyres may be the best upgrade one can do on a bike. In Europe the non tubeless version costs around 45 eur per tyre, and they're made in germany.

The ease of build, and tolerances like caliper mounts and how the headset top cap interfaces with the headtube, are usually good indicators of how the frame will ride.

I think the propel cages match the frame better. I actually put them on all my drop bar bikes because of you (all pinarello clones (2x Dogma F, 1x Grevil F). I got the AirTag version for the down tube.

I reckon they're all resellers, so the quality of their products may vary. Since I liked the geometry of my rim brake VB-R218 a lot, I was tempted to get a disc version. VB however do not sell my size anymore and clear out their stock, so I needed to look elsewhere. After much back and forth with the QILEFU store, I decided to give them a try. It was helped by the fact that Aliexpress offered free return on the frame. The seller confirmed that I would have the option, even though they asked me not to order if I was planning on returning it (because they're likely never going to actually get it back). I'm very pleasantly surprised by the frameset. It's lighter than my VB-R218. Paint quality is better except for some minor imperfections. All the accessories, like the headset cover, the C clip, the cover on the underside of the handlebar, the stem and seatpost wedges are actually of better quality with no sharp edges that needed any sanding. No sharp edges on the entry and exit holes on the handlebar. The plastic parts are reassuringly stiff and visibly made of glass fiber reinforced material. On my VB-R218, the plastic cover on the underside of the handlebar bends if you tighten the screws, for instance. It doesn't do that on this frame. The BB threads were clean. The only thing I needed to do is sand the rear flatmount tabs to get the rear brake perfectly aligned. The fork was fine from the get go. The build as pictured weighs 7.9kg in a size XXL with pedals and all accessories. That's fine with me as some of the stuff on this bike could still be lighter. December 27, 2024, 01:34:27 AM |

Pretty much middle ground and the same compared to my rim brake version. I found this frame to be stiff on the front end. BB is sort of middle of the road. Not the stiffest I ever had and also not the flexiest. Rear end and seatpost are somewhat flexy which is in line with what I read about the actual Dogma. There’s no worrying amount of flex anywhere. Also no rotor rub when standing up on the climbs and putting the power down so that’s good.

QILEFU is very much a budget option. A good one at that price point but you shouldn’t expect any more than that. It’s not light. The paintjob is not premium. But it’s durable and the tolerances are good enough to give you (almost) no trouble. The frame is clean enough on the inside but it’s clearly not EPS moulded. Hence, the higher weight. Roughly 1100g for my size XXL/57.5 and roughly 430-450g for the uncut fork IIRC. But it’s all reassuringly stiff and the wall thicknesses are not super thin anywhere on the frame. For me as an 80kg guy, that’s a good thing. A 750g frame sure won’t let me climb any quicker.

Finally finished the X68 build. Here's a rundown of the parts: My specs: 5'-7" tall, 29.5" inseam (170.2 cm tall, 74.9 cm inseam) Frame: X68 size 52 Handlebars: EXS Aerover 40x90 Wheelset: Shimano Ultegra WH-R8170 C50 Groupset: Shimano Ultegra 12 speed Crankset: Shimano Ultegra 52/36, 170mm Chain: Shimano Ultegra 12 speed Saddle: Specialized Romin Pedals: Look Keo 2 Carbon Handlebar tape: PRO Race Comfort Tires: Continental Gatorskin 28mm Tubes: Tubolito TPU Overall weight is 7.8 kg or 17lb 5oz - a little heavier than I expected. Had a couple issues with the build. As stated in an earlier post, the opening in the supplied handlebar did not fit the fork steerer tube. I opted to use the EXS Aerover that I had ordered a while ago and never used. Installing the Di2 wire to the rear derailleur took a little effort, there was/is some sort of obstruction in the chainstay and it took a little time with the Park Tool internal routing kit to squirrel the wire around the obstruction. The other real pain in the A$$ was the front derailleur mount. It must have not been manufactured correctly or the mounting location on the seat tube was not aligned properly. When I mounted the front derailleur and tightened it to the correct torque, the cage was angled outward or away from the chainring/frame. Once I bent the derailleur hanger back (toward the rear wheel), the front derailleur installed perfectly and the small set screw was able to be used to align with the chainring. Shifts great now. I did have to bend it three times total to get it correct, I didn't want to bend it too much, so small bends until correct. Other than that, the bult was fairly straight forward. Bottom bracket threaded all the way in by hand, then torqued to specs. Brake mounts were not faced, but not a big deal to me. A little brake rub, but not a deal breaker. This is the 7th bike build for me, and was a little more challenging than the others (2013 Cervelo R3, 2015 Specialized Tarmac SL5, 2017 Giant TCR Advanced Pro, 2020 Scott Addict RC, 2021 BMC Teammachine, 2022 Trek Emonda SLR).
