Re: Spcycle New Mold G056 Carbon Gravel Frame
I hope someone can help me with this frame build. I recently purchased the version sold by "Surprise store" on AliExpress. My issue is installing the headset where there is a gap between the lower bearing and the fork and also a bigger gap between the frame and the headcover for the top bearing - this is using the supplied headset. With the top bearing in particular, this sits flush with the frame and when you put the the compression ring on, it sits too high the the headset cover leaving quite a big gap. Any advice is appreciated. For the upper bearing, I would definitely not use that compression ring, not just because it sits too high but because that C-shape design can easily damage a steerer tube (refer to Luescher Teknik: https://youtu.be/sKD2JSW9ul4?t=150). I'd recommend a Token A-Box or S-Box headset, which isn't too expensive and comes with a much better compression ring. If you can buy just that ring, it would certainly be cheaper than a full headset, but in 5 minutes of googling, I can't find a well-designed compression ring sold independently of a headset. There may be one out there if you look further than my casual searching. For the lower bearing, are you sure the extra crown race is needed? Most of the time the bearing sits directly on a crown race molded directly into the fork; if that's not the case here then I would explore bearing/crown race combos from Cane Creek, they're the only reasonably priced source for good bearings + crown races that I found with another couple minutes of searching. https://canecreek.com/product/headset-bearings/ https://canecreek.com/product/crown-races/ https://canecreek.com/product/headset-parts-accessories/ July 08, 2024, 12:04:29 AM |

Re: Spcycle New Mold G056 Carbon Gravel Frame
I am wondering if they sent some wrong parts. I used the supplied headset and it looks fine to me. The race on the fork doesn't look right for one thing IMO

Re: Spcycle New Mold G056 Carbon Gravel Frame
Thanks for your reply, it confirms my thoughts that the headset is just a badly designed one and I should look at other options. I can confirm the crown race is needed as the bottom of the steerer is not tapered and is right angled and therefore needs a crown race to contact the lower bearing properly. Yeah, the headset it comes with mostly won't work with any other traditional internally routed headset, as it creates way too much space above the bearing assembly - I'd wager that if you got the bars with it, there's a specific first-use space that fits well. Annoying. I had a plastic c-ring/cable guide/centering ring from another bar that I shaved down with 80 grit sandpaper to just barely 1mm of height above the frame and it allowed me to use the Fire Spider internally routed stem. The crown race and lower bearing worked fine for me so not sure what's going on with yours. July 16, 2024, 01:29:19 PM |

Re: Chinese cycling clothes
Whatever happened to Spexcel ? All their stuff in Ali is from a couple of years ago. They release a few new garments every year you might be looking at unofficial storefronts. Recently purchased bib tights with Elastic Interface chamois from them that had 2024 in the title of the product. February 09, 2025, 01:30:36 AM |

Re: Serenade 4550 Wavy Wheelset SUB 1200g steel spokes 500USD
My set of 55deep/25internal wheelset has seen a lot of abuse and is holding up fine. That one is 1450g however. The wavy wheels have not seen too much road use and I will report back. The squeeze test is not really indicative of build quality. Wall thickness will obviously be thin on a lightweight rim just like with frames. Long term durability is an unknown with these. So let’s see. Maybe I give them a run on cobbles to see if they can take it. That’s usually a good indicator for durability. February 20, 2025, 05:18:20 AM |

Re: Spcycle New Mold G056 Carbon Gravel Frame
Here it is! My first bike build ever Ceccotti RF 25 in size L, chameleon glossy paint, 7.85 kg (without pedals) x 1380 € I've been sourcing parts from months, waiting for offers and price drops, as well as doing a lot of reading and studying, and I'm now really satisfied with how it turned out, and how much I learnt in the process. I wasn't fast as I never did anything similar, but I had no major problems, just a few things that demanded their fair amount of time: above all sanding down the compression ring (it left a thick gap above the frame) and cleaning the bottom bracket threads from paint overspray. Re: Mixing Road/Gravel/MTB components - will this work ?
But road shifters are compatible with GRX and specifically with the rx822 RD, it is compatible with MTB cassettes ? Road and Gravel Shifters and derailleurs are basically the same. You add a little bit of Gravel glitter and then your ultegra turns into rx800 *there's an ultegra RX raer derailleur by they way which was the predecessor of the RX800.. it already had a clutch. The mtb shifters are however NOT compatible to road/ Gravel The cassette mixing is OK. If you consider the capacity of the rear derailleur. For example: 11speed 11-34 casette from shimano is a mtb cassette, which is widely used in 2x11 road configurations. Chains are always just the same.. you can see it on the paper box telling you "Ultegra/XT" or "DuraAce / XTR" Chainline and Q factor: chainline can be OK. There are non boost cranksets in mtb available.. maybe look for them Q factor is definitely something that should be considered for the rider. Some people don't even feel the difference, others don't like large q factors/ like large q factors May 20, 2025, 04:19:35 AM |

I've built my chinese gravel last year with dtswiss road whels and Shimano hg freewhel with sunrace 11/46 mtb cassette, so I need to use 1.85 mm washer May 21, 2025, 01:46:31 AM |

Re: Mixing Road/Gravel/MTB components - will this work ?
I have a pair of R7120 12 speed road shifters that I would like to repurpose for my gravel bike. I know I can mix it with the rx610 and rx820 2x setup but I was wondering if this 1x setup will work:Will work no problem. Be mindful of max cog size. Quote - M6100/7100/8100 crankset or rx610/820 1x cranksetWill work, may need spacer for the chainring bolts to fine tune the chainline. Quote - M6100/7100/8100/9100 cassette ( I will need a microspline freehub). Will work no problem, need spacer for the cassette May 21, 2025, 03:38:42 AM |

Re: Spcycle New Mold G056 Carbon Gravel Frame
I have 47mm which measure 47mm, the 2" Racekings measure 49mm. Turn your bike upside down and you get a better perspective on the chain stay clearance. I don't need to turn my bike upside down. I have calipers 😁 July 10, 2025, 04:39:57 PM |
