New VeloBuild gravel race frame in the works...
We're working on a new gravel frame that will be race oriented, but we also want it to be practical and meet the needs of those riding in flannel shirts or pro-mutting to work. Give us your thoughts on what features you would like to see incorporated and if the stars line up maybe we can make it happen! Thank you in advance for all your feedback. So the bike has now been assembled. I still need to adjust it to suit me but its pretty close at the moment. The adjustment on the seat seems to be quite far back. I like the end of my seat in line with the crank and this is right at the end of adjustment. My other Cervelo P3 and Giant Trinity were much further forward. Maybe a different seat could give more adjustment. The set clamp looks to be identical to the Cervelo P3 clamp The plate at the top of the riser looks proprietary. I have had a quick look for the riser/spacers but cant find anything even on ICAN's website and AliExpress. If you want to add different aero bars you will either need to use the existing plate or try to make one that fits. The risers have like a male and female end that interlock with the base bar and the top plate or angle riser. This gives them stability and is very solid which you want for the riser and aero bars. All cables are routed in the riser and down through the stem inside the bearings. I had to cut the fork stem when assembling the bike. Next time I would ask ICAN to do this, there is no reason why they cant as you don't adjust the bar height, its in line with the top tube. April 06, 2025, 07:55:52 PM |

as someone who ride this frame like a tribike (saddle so far fwd) with clipon aerobars on reach extenders, this frame is as close as it gets to a tri bike posi, at least as close almost equal my tt912. as your saddle go higher, the saddle isnt going further back (thus your seattube angle increases, like old plasma) so i get it why Seb Kienle used a modded ScottFoil as tri bike (he's sponsored by Scott, but he still had access for top tier lightest Plasma if he wanted). downside, missing toptube boss-mount for bento box, or any internal storage for tools. if anyone on a budget for tri bike build, this frame is worth a consideration as its almost half(but dont include tri cockpit) of tt912 or other tri frame price. but you need to go full internal cabling, n i suggest go axs for least cable goin thru the top bearing June 06, 2025, 02:00:44 AM |

Yo yo yo 3D printable box version 2 is out! Took some suggestions from the forum into consideration, so here you go if anyone wants it. VB TT-023: Here comes a new build
Hi everyone, I’m Samir, 45 years old, based in the Paris area, and I’ve been into triathlon for about 4 years now. I’m signed up for my first full IronMan (XL) in May 2026, so I decided it was time to step things up and get myself a proper time trial bike. Until now, I’ve been racing on a Tarmac SL7 with clip-ons – great bike, but clearly not ideal for long-distance tri. So I’m opening this thread to share the full build process of my new TT bike, starting from the VB-TT-023 frame. My goal is to document the build, get some feedback if you're willing to share, and maybe help others thinking about a similar setup. Here’s the spec I’m going with:
Everything has been ordered and I should start the build in the second half of August, once I’m back from vacation. Enjoy the build and I hope everything goes well, as it seems you only have one month from frame delivery to the first race with it. And let me know how the box fits! So i finally got around to building this thing up. No major hiccups and everything is nice and solid. Frame feels fast and stiff and personally (i understand it might be boring to some) i love how this bike looks. Very pleased so far. Total weight with pedals comes in at around 8.3kg. Just one thing: I asked winow for torque spec recommendations on both whatsapp and via e-mail. They only response i got was "hi". Then they ghosted me. Not a good look. July 25, 2025, 01:57:04 AM |

Some really good discussion in this thread. I'm enjoying it. I'm 50, and a retired graphic designer. I've lost years of my life stressing and fighting over taking down other designers who ripped off my work, so that being my journey to where I am today it's understandable why I'm very much against counterfeit goods. That said some people on Weight Weenies caught me out by spotting a "no logo" Gelu saddle on one of my builds. Sure, some people were real nasty about it (fair enough), but one guy was constructive (like many of you in here are) and well, what he wrote got to me (something along the lines of "that's just how the world is today, like it or not"), and whilst I'm still against counterfeit goods sold as the real thing (imitation logos, packaging etc.) I'm now OK (I think...) with products that take inspiration (all that said I ended up buying a genuine Gelu saddle and man it cost a LOT). I've spent my whole life buying Giant bicycles. I worked in a bike shop that sold Giant bikes when I was younger so got staff discount. I bought a lot of them because they were such good value for money, but I always dreamed of owning more boutique bicycles. Fast forward to today; I finally paid off my 17 year mortgage and you know what? Fuck it. I recently sold my house, bought a small apartment and now for the first time in my life I have money so I'm going to spend it on bikes and there's no fucking way I'm ever going to buy another Giant ever again, ever! I do not at all feel precious about my S-Works Tarmac SL8. It's just a bicycle and I ride it in all conditions and it's awesome. I have a tonne of Chinese branded products on it, they're great! My father was Chinese so I'm itching to get busy on an all out build using only Chinese branded products. The wait has been worth it as I see Joe at PP is selling performance tyres now (that really was the last missing piece) and the Magene groupset should be out soon. The TanTan SL8 copy intrigues me, and I think it would be a fun project but ultimately I already know what the end result will amount to. IE: It's good, but not as good as the real thing, and God forbid I share my thoughts on it in comparison to the real thing if both builds did not have identical parts... This forum is awesome. Hi all, just registered to share my experiences so far - *waves in lycra* I ordered an XL AeroTrace back in mid July, possibly one of the very first orders if the 'Sold' counter is anywhere near reliable. As of this morning I hadn't received it, or a shipping notification or even an email to confirm finishing choices (paint etc). I emailed Chris today for an update since it's no longer 'End of August' and got the following response: "Sorry for delay as after the ISO4210 test ,we improved the carbon structure and frame weight .frame during production already ,size XS S M moulded out ;L XL will be moulded out beginning of next week we will do best and keep you updated" I'm in no particular hurry, but looking forward to getting it and building it up. If it's delayed due to ISO testing and improvements relating to that then I won't complain. I, for whatever reason, like a very forward geometry and my current TCR doesn't allow for this - partly because it's a size too small, and also since it has a proprietary seatpost it's not possible to use the likes of the Profile Design FastForward. The steeper STA compared to most larger frames, plus to a greater extent the TT seatpost with adjustable saddle clamps were big motivators for ordering. Plus it looks badass, and the aero improvements are better than a kick in the teeth. Happy to update when I hear more about delivery if anyone is interested, and once I've built it up (using the groupset from the TCR) I'll post a few pics and thoughts. Cheers. Hi guys! First and probably last post on here, as I prefer to lark in the dark. Anyways, I have been in contact with Velobuild about the frame and the (lack) of handlebar options. Today I received confirmation of the option of 3D printing a different topcap after I created the 3D spacers for FSA ACR for them to "incorporate" to their topcap design. So, for all of you unhappy with the handlebars/stems, at least anything ACR will be able to fit in the future!! September 01, 2025, 11:26:48 AM |
