Re: VeloBuild VB-TT-023 1st proper ride with the VB-TT-023 today

Bike is truly stiff, broke alot of PR’s today on a route that i havent been on for several months. Considering that this is my first time on a TT bike, i am truly happy with the frame and my build, no issues on a 63 mile ride with 1k feet of elevation, i completed the ride in 3:06.22 averaging 20.1mph on 204watts.

Re: 1 x 12 Sram TT Setup
I've gone down this route for my VB TT-23 build (not built just yet). Gone with:

SRAM Force Rear Mech (36tooth max)
11-34 Shimano Cassette
Dura Ace Crankset w/ 56t Pass Quest 1x Chainring
RideRever Trivia Hydraulic TT Brakes
2 sets of 2 AXS Wireless Blips (1 set on Bar Ends and 1 on the Brake Levers)

Most of the TTing and Tri's I do are flat-ish or enough to get by on a 1x chainring. When I need to I will simple buy a SRAM Red FD and double chainring. Went for the Dura Ace Crankset because its quite light. Hoping its all compatible...

thanks....i will await your final report :-)
it seems that sram tt brakes are not so much higher price wise?

Re: VeloBuild VB-TT-023 Just ordered a VB-TT-023 in white ice crack, with the extra threads for a bento box on top. Hope it will turn out alright! Gotta keep busy in the off season  ;)

Re: Post the picture of your diy paint sprayjob Here's a photo and video of one of my paint jobs: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/V-t9kH_zGyU

The frame is a Winspace SLC 2.0 and stem is S-Works SL. The frame started out life in the Superlight Black colorway, this was the process:
Frame:
- Sand to bare carbon
- Transparent adhesion promoter with a faint silver sparkle
- Candy Black from Specialist Paints
- White fade base is Dolomite from Montana Cans
- Snow White Pearl from Specialist Paints over the Montana Dolomite
- Clear intercoat/Wet sand
- Decals are painted on with Ford Champagne Gold
- 2k clear coat/Wet sand
- More 2k clear coat
- Wet sand until smooth
- Cut and polish with orbital buffer

Fork:
- Sand to bare carbon
- Adhesion promoter
- Montana Shock Black
- Alcohol ink job with Tim Holtz alcohol inks and 99 iso
- 2k clear (lots of it due to the alcohol ink texture)/Wet sand until smooth
- Montana Dolomite white base/Specialist Paints Snow White Pearl
- 2k clear/wet sand/cut and buff

Will post a couple more paint jobs when I get a chance.  :)

Re: Ace Sprint carbon wheels on Aliexpress Interested to see the Tri spoke.

The disc is good quality. It's exactly the same as the nine velo disc which is in the $1200 range. Just be aware that with the ultra light weight, it sacrifices a bit of lateral stiffness. So if you have super tight clearance on your rear stays, you might get a bit of brake or tire rub on hard efforts (standing up hill).  Personally it can be an issue on my Cervelo p3x.

I went with a different disc on the p3x which was from Gozone.  It's about 200gr leaving but stiffer.  I prefer this gozone disc overall. It gives a bit more clearance on the drive side so if you are running an OSPW RD you don't have as much a chance of rubbing against the disc. I personally prefer the Gozone disc wheel for that reason but it is more expensive.

I have 3 other sets of wheels from Ace sprint varying from 60mm to 80mm depths. All carbon spokes. They're great wheels. Well built with smooth hubs. No complaints at all. Shipping can take a little longer if you make customizations like decals or finishes, but Edwin communicated well.
