Re: First bike build, Carbonda CFR 505 SL
[quote author=jfcb link=topic=5633.msg73449#msg73449 date=1737747981 They delivered exactely what I wanted.

Can you give me an idea of what your set up here is? Less interested in wheels, but am interested in components and how it was getting it built up.
Were there any problems with internal routing etc etc. Or did you make it someone else's problem and get the shop to build it?

The build up was very smooth, no issues to notice actually.
  • Internal cable routing (especially with SRAM wireless shifting) is easy with the frame, no fiddling. I did use foam hose protection to avoid rattling inside the frame.
  • The brake mounts were faced, no issues
  • with Sram 1X, installing a groupset goes very fast
Apart from the groupset and pedals, it's quiet a chinabuild:
  • T47 BB install, as al my BB's I buy them on Alixpress and replace the bearings with NTN/SKF once the original ones wear down. Afterwards they last very long.
  • Crankset: now (different from the picture), I'm running a SRAM RED DUB crank with sigey PM, 50T Stone oval chainring. For training periods and climbing races, I will go back to 46T. I also mounted a ZTTO chain catcher. I've ridden a period without chainring cachter which went smooth, but rather don't take the risk in races.
  • Drivetrain: force XPLR derailleur and (Goldix?) 10-44T cassette. They are very long lasting cassettes and work with Shimano 12sp chains.
  • Cockpit: originally I ran an UNO stem with carbon handlebar (ali, similar shape as 3T ergonova) using the ritchey headset. This is a super light yet sturdy combination. As mentioned earlier, I replaced it this winter with a roval cockpit which I could buy from a friend for which it was too short.
  • Furthermore: seatpost (ali), carbon bottle cages (ali, arundel style), farsports 40mm gravel wheels (1300gr), some helicopter tape on the downtube to protect it from the gravel impacts. I also replaced the bolts on the downtube with Nylon bolts

Re: WheelTop EDS TX Full Wireless Groupset (Chinese SRAM)
So far, I've had a pretty bad run of luck with the EDS-TX. Learnings so far:
- There's an adjustment screw on the underside of the derailleur that I found difficult to find - a case of RTFM that had me trying to get in and out of the adjustment mode multiple times before I could get my calibration in.
- Once the calibration was dialled in, it worked pretty smoothly - but I found that re-entering the adjustment mode would reset and throw out any calibration I had done. Solution: Take screenshots of the adjustments dialled in to the app.
- Accuracy seemed to be way worse shifting down the cog than shifting up it.
- The FD fine adjustment bolt is soft as butter and stripped using a Parktools ball-headed allen key that was barely used. There's no way to adjust the FD in the app without Wheeltop unlocking the function.

There's a third party app available on the Facebook wheeltop users page-the apps url is    https://dreds.jeckyll.net/

You'll need a pc with bluetooth or an android phone. It will also run on an iphone but you'll need an app named WebBLE to allow the use of websites that access bluetooth. Also, Google Chrome. May need to tinker with eliminating or disabling other browsers.

But its great in that it 1) allows you to name and save configurations after fine tuning (awesome if you have a couple wheelsets) 2) seperates out race mode from sleep so you can have faster shifting and still have sleep mode 3) allows fd fine tuning of both initial positions and trim positions 4) allows you to turn off the "protection" that blocks the smallest 3 rear cogs in the little ring  and 5) if you connect it to the group and leave it minimized, it stays connected so that you can use it on the road without an internet connection, unlike the standard app-you can also do this preconnect with the standard app but it runs phone gps and really sucks down the phone battery.

Evolve Cima ML- Rewind Hey all. I haven’t seen to much about the Evolve Cima. Thought I’d put this out there for interested parties.

Finally got the first ride on my new Cima today. Size ML.
I did a mid grade build with some stuff I had and some new parts. Rival E1 shifters and older D2 RD and FD.

Frame - 777g  with hanger
Wheels -1319g with valves and tape -Elite wheels Drive 2 50d.
Bars -335 - Krueza 120mm x 40mm wide
Post - 156g 380mm x 10mm offset
Cassette - 309g force 10-36
Crankset w/ power meter - 705g Force 165mm with XCADEY PM and D2 force chainrings 48/35
Rotors - 146g x2  i dont remeber. Sram I think?
Tires - 279g x2 Vittoria Corsa Tubetype 30mm
15.5lbs with pedals, cages, garmin mount.

Frame was immaculately packaged. The users manual is excellent. All the spare parts were well packed and organized. Definitely feels high quality. The frame is beautiful. Perfect paint. Well threaded and faced BB and brake mounts. Etc. build up was simple enough. Internal routing was simple besides me crossing the brake hoses and setting them up Euro style by accident at first. The angles of the exit points on the bars are annoying but not insurmountable with a good pick and some finesse.

First ride. The bike feels like a rocket. Stiff but responsive. Climbs very well. Unfortunately it was 28 degrees today in NY so I couldn’t give it the juice on the descents. I am a bit nervous about its descending. The handling is very different than my 54cm SuperSix Evo 3. You can see how steep the head angle is. The front tire is almost touching the downtube. Front center is very short. I’m hoping it can stay composed at high speed descents.

Overall very happy with the bike so far. Pics attached.
