Pretty sure a plain old SRAM GX mtb long cage will run fine with a force brifter.   Can probably find a used one cheap if the $65-90 they often can be found for online is out of budget.

Honest question: Are you not washing your cloths, bibs especially, before first ride? Maybe I'm weird but I'm not sure I want my junk rubbing against any industry left-overs from the factory.

I was really hoping for superpowers for maybe some exciting color transfer.  Nothing happened, Just a nice ride comfortable ride.     Some of the graphic they put on the chamois started to peel off. Sent them a message about it and they offered me $6 off my next purchase.  Acceptable given its not something that *should* affect how the chamois functions.

Grabbed these YKYW bibs at the suggestion of a few other members.  They arrived today so I went for 90 minute tempo ride as soon as I pulled them out of the package.

Initial impressions are that these are very good especially for the price.  The stitching and straps are very nice and the chamois is very comfortable.

Anyone got recommendations for a cheap crankset 165mm?
I don't really care about chainring size i'm just going to use it on my trainer 110 bcd

I've been running a couple of Senicx cranksets for over a year that have been solid for mtb and gravel riding.

A wolftooth tanpan and some 11 speed, hydraulic shimano 105 brifters will run your xt derailleur and may be found on the cheap near you.

They’ve been pretty nice. I’ve got them set about 1.5 turns out from the softest setting.

I’ve been using some Darvie shoes the past year or so and they’ve been pretty nice for gravel and mtb. They are comfortable and run true to size.  The heel has a nice directional anti slip lining and the boas are durable.

Been running these pedals for a couple years on Mtb and gravel. They seem pretty nice, haven’t had to replace a bearing yet, but I clean and grease the teflon bushing occasionally.

If I order another set of shoes off AliEx I’ll probably try one of these;

Hi,

Do you know, how to enter the manual trim mode on the MTB paddle?

I accidentially startet the "initial setup" while my derailleur was on the second gear and now it is stucked there. I read, that I need to move it down all the way by "manual trimming with the paddle".

Additionally: Has anybody experience with setting up the MTB derailleur with a XT 11-46 cassette? Mine does not shift from the 37 to the 46 cog.

Thanks

Wolfgang

It took me about 2 hours of fiddling with my MTB wheeltop system to get it running right.  The instructions and app aren't super coherent or intuitive.  There is a switch on the backside of the mtb paddle that you need to switched during calibration vs normal running.   When mine would get "stuck" on a gear during calibration I resorted to tapping the micro adjust button on the paddle or in the app until the derailleur bottomed out and then restarted the setup process.  I found avoiding the micro step page until the end points were set was what kept me from having the derailleur "stop" mid way into the range.

Looking forward to this build!

I got an AirBank branded one back in November.  Its been great.  I've used it to seat MTB tires and gravel bike tires.  Its almost completely replaced my air compressor and floor pumps, especially for top ups right before a ride.  Seems to get about 3 minutes of runtime on a charge, so I just plug it in for a few minutes before tossing it back into my tool bag and heading out.

I just installed those Stone 50/34 chainring and they look fire! Shifting is great on par with dura ace chainrings I had previously. For now can only recommend.

How do those chainrings SOUND compared to the shimano rings?

I stuck a Stone 46/32 chainring setup on my gravel bike.  I don't hear them and the shifts are just as quick and accurate as the Shimano 105 and Senicx parts that have been on the bike before.

I run a Specialized Power Mimic on my gravel bike.  I liked it so much I got an WildSide "knock off" AliExpress for my XC MTB.   It was very comfy even on 100k marathon races and training rides.  I bent the rails/broke the base on a bad jump at a bike park after about 6 months of use.    Its just slightly softer, and slightly bigger than the Specialized model and 1/10th the price.

I’m not great with figuring geometry to suggested rider height.

Do you (Peter) have any suggestions on what size rider would fit each frame size?

Darevie bibs (2023?): https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005057467316.html
My experience doesn't mirror others at all. They are by far my favorite bibs, the pad is perfect, gripper is good and construction lasts. I got 3
I also love those darevie bibs. Ordered 2 more in the last sale.

Got these Darevie bibs on sale for $20.  They are a great value at that price.   For their full retail price of nearly $60 I think there are better values (in the closeout/clearance of premium brands).     The Darevie bibs fit nicely.  The pad is well positioned, nice and flexible, but maybe a little less supportive than I'd prefer.   The shoulder straps are a little rough/textured, but not bothersome to me so far.    I’m 165cm / 55-56kg and got a size small that fits well.    Have ridden a few 60-90 minute sessions on the trainer and a nearly 3 hour gravel ride found them comfy.

I have a couple DeMarchi bibs and a set of Louis Garneau bibs I got on closeout at sportpursuit for $29(ea) and $65 respectively and they blow these Darevie bibs out of the water dollar for dollar, especially where the chamois is concerned; But shipping is $15 from sportpursuit so thats annoying and eats into any dollar savings.

Hi All,

I'm looking for recommendations for bib shorts. At 168cm 53kg I'm at the low end of the small size for weight and approaching the small/medium for height on the Darevie charts. This roughly matches with the castelli size small I have now, which are a bit tight on the straps and just barely tight enough on my thighs. The castelli pad is too wide for me in the middle, digging into my inner thighs so a pad that's narrow in this area would be good. I have no preference on the manufacturer, but low key or no graphics are preferred.

 Thanks!

If you find something good.  I'm 165cm / 55kg and almost everything I find either shows I'm too small for what they offer.   The only bib from AliEx i've gotten that I liked is a Rion thermal, and its really just "ok".  Not as comfy as my summer stuff.   The pad is a little big and like almost every other brand i've ever tried the pad is also too far back/up.
