Did you see there is a threaded hole in the drop out?
Perpendicular to the axle on the nut side.
You can put a 3mm(?) headless screw to tighten the nut in the dropout.

he runs super low pressures

What is a super low pressure?
I have 30mm rims too, but I think I could do better/lower than 1.8 bar / 26 PSI.
How could we test the limit?

Getting the nipples out is not that easy.
Here is an honnest video of Yoeleo explaining how to do it:

So in case we need to fix a broken spoke, or lace again the wheel.
I can't imagine how to get them in. May be orient them with a magnet.

But there is definitely a technique to do it, that could be explained.

The idea of not having to tape the rim for tubeless is great.
I'm loosing some small air from there, but too lazy to re-tape it.
I think my next wheels will be like these.

Take a coin, and gently hit the frame somewhere else.
Remember the kind of noise it makes.

Then hit that zone.
If it is really cracked you will clearly hear a softer more diffuse sound.
It looks like this is a weak spot of the 256.

I had this white thing as well when my left chainstay was hit recently.
The sellers should take their responsibility.
If not, you can always fix the crack before it becomes bigger, like I did.

Here are some pictures of CS-041 in 17''.  there is no connecting braze between top tube and seat tube
The pictures shows a connection bridge between the top and seat tube. Do you have real pictures of a 17"version without ?

Hi Peter, do you have some comment on the new frame compared to the 256, in what it is better?

Do you ride in wet condition sometimes?
I would be very interested to know how long the bearings last. So keep us posted.

May be adding a light flexible coat to wrap the tubes.
I would be more worried about scratches or hits.

Unless you have already the wheels you like. You should go with a 15mm thru axle.
And beware the chainreaction's page you linked to, seems to have just the 26" in stock.

You can check http://www.bike-discount.de and http://www.bike24.com too, they have better prices in general.

wow... that means this collar bone will become unbreakable.
Did you ask them what will happen if you are hit again in that area?
Does it have weaker spots that will bend?

2 of the bikers I usually ride with, have broken their collar bone recently too.
Several others had it in the past.
It looks a very common MTB accident.

Good luck with the surgery!

When something breaks, people are vocal about it the forums.
If you look after them, you will surely find broken carbon parts reports.

However the silent majority of us here have no problem with our Chinese seatpost, stem and bars.
I guess, we all order the frame, then look around on the vendor web site.
See those cheap parts that will come in the same box as the frame, so we try and stick with them.

7. Will likely replace with Niner Air 9 RDO frame later this year.

Just curious. Why wouldn't you stick with the 256?

I've got about 10 months with a matte UD finish frame.
It is full of scars of any sizes and there is no tube spared.
I don't see them anymore.

Unless you cover the whole frame with tape I'm afraid it can't be avoided.
On my previous painted bike, scratches are less visible, but they are definitely there too.

And if the turn-to-the-back tip above still doesn't work.
Do not hesitate to offer some additional power to the wrench :)

« on: May 13, 2015, 03:09:49 AM »
During my first rides, I had the impression of the bike being harder to steer too.
May be it was me moving from a 26" to a 29", or just discovering a new bike.

If that may help, this has totally disappeared now.
And with the sharp 256, I'm now much faster, even on rocks and roots.
