hey! I have already recieve the frame. Everything is great. I am greatly surprise about this brand.

I am new building mtb and I have a question that maybe you could answer me.

I am looking for a rear shock and I see that the 918 has a mount 165*38mm. Otherwise, I see many options in 165*37.5mm, but I am not sure if this measurement would fit the frame. I have already got a reba rl 120mm.

The only model with 165*38 I have found it is Rockshox Monarch.

Your question is answered literally two posts above. You need to look for 6.5in x 1.5in standard mount shocks

What options are there for standard shocks 165x38? So far I am aware of the Monarch and DPS.

I was briefly considering this frame and was curious about the lack of 165x38mm shocks as well. It turns out they are using the older Imperial measurements of 6.5in x 1.5in and just calling it metric. This should give you a lot more options when searching for shocks.

Cyclocross Frames, Wheels & Components / Vitus Venon
« on: August 29, 2023, 08:25:49 AM »
I was wondering if anyone knows what frame the Vitus Venon is based on? I know they source some of the mountain and road frames from Carbonda/FlyBike but I can't quite place the gravel frame.

I would check the headset spec to make sure that it is 1.5 to 1.5, but my guess would be that they are using the ACR spec. In which case any semi-integrated stem should work. There are a few from name brands as well as Chinese manufacturers.

Can you share any details you have about the 505 SL? Any images? Information is sparse and when I asked about it Adam basically said "yes, its a thing" without much else.

Updated geo chart attached. Longer wheelbase and front-center, higher/less bb drop. Still in production, may be done end of August.

Also, chart shows 46mm offset for the fork but Adam claims 51mm is fine. Fox is currently selling the 34 step cast for $200 off, but only 51mm is available, 44mm sold out.

Hi, so Carbonda is planning a 120mm version of this frame?  Will it maintain the same geometry or will it get slackened out?

I checked in with Adam mid July. He said it was now mid to late August for production and has not provided any other details. I asked for the updated geo chart at one point but it was not available and he said that he would send it out when he had it, but he hasn't been great about following up on this. I'll send another email tonight since mid August is next week.

Before wider rims existed there was no other option. I've mounted 38mm Gravel King SKs on 19mm inner rims and they survived the flint hills of Kansas without issue. This is likely a mounting issue unrelated to the inner width.

Something maybe with a fork/shock travel of 130-160mm. Not looking to go 180mm.

That is not really down country travel. That is solidly in trail bike territory, borderline enduro, and there are plenty of frames mentioned on here that fit that spec. The FM 1001/1002 both fit that spec, depending on how much travel you actually want, and LightCarbon has some interesting options for that range too.

Thanks for the recommendation! I ordered the ones you mentioned and some others that look like they would fit. In the meantime I might file one of the spare plugs (no remote lockout needed) to fit in the exit.

On a related note, did anyone use internal cable housing dampers? I have none installed yet and nothing seems to rattle when I drop the bike but now would be the time I guess :)

Maybe too late now, but I would recommend using them. I did not use any on my FM936 and there is definitely some rattling. I did use them on my FM1001 and it is silent.

Has anyone mounted a Sigeyi potentiometer?

I have one on my FM936, and will be using one when I build my FM909. It has worked flawlessly.

I'm really tempted by these rims for my new FM909 build, but they're so narrow. What size tires do you have on them?

Hey all, on the 936 in size Medium, have done a handful of rides on it... feeling regrets choosing the SL size M. I am 182 cm with longish legs. It feels cramped at times. A ride I did with lots of tight corners (I live in rocky, chunky Arizona) revealed how awkward I feel on the bike. Then again I could also just be lacking cornering skills. I'm coming from a size L Specialized Fuse with a 170 cranks and a 45mm stem. First time riding a full sus, the hardtail felt so much more straight forward. I ride rough XC with some occasional rough trail.

I heard a lot of cases reading through all the pages for "sizing up", but I am also taking RAD into consideration. But when the suspension (Rockshox RT M rebound, L compression) is active, steering get's wonky. It feels like reach shortens. The straight-line speed is excellent though.

I am currently riding a 50mm stem with 780 bars, but I did also pick up a 75mm stem to lengthen things out. The result was a floppy steering, I'm feeling stuck and not sure if there's anything that can be done to "fix" the fit. I'm open to any ideas y'all may have. If I must go large, wouldn't that make my stem tiny?? I am definitely on the bike to tackle challenging/technical climb, the downhill is a fun bonus :)

I think you're trying to make this bike something that it isn't. It is a modern geometry, long wheelbase, slack headtube, cross country/down country frame. RAD might be ok for Trail and Enduro builds where you're hitting jumps and needing to pull the front end a lot, personally I think it makes no sense when you have no reference frame for angle, but this bike is closer to a road fit, long and low. I would definitely consider cutting your bars, running a stem that long with wide bars on this frame is going to give weird steering. The long wheelbase can also take time to get used to for maneuvering tight turns, but it is very much capable of them. I'm 188cm on a size large with a 60mm stem and 750mm bars that I might cut to 740, otherwise it the fit is great and no issue with steering.

Has anyone had luck find Oakleys on Ali? It always seemed like a game of whack-a-mole with new stores popping up but I haven't seen anything in a while and was needing a new pair of Sutros.

Latest update from Adam about the 120mm version. Currently in testing, almost ready for production, size Large by late July. It will use a 165x45mm Trunnion shock and 46mm offset fork (weird, I guess go for 44?).

familiar?

https://www.detrailbikes.com/sv/stig-115/

Interesting, their entire lineup looks like Carbonda but the geo charts are slightly different. Curious if that is the new linkage for the 936 that they're claiming only 115mm of travel on with a 45mm shock.

Edit: I missed the part where its a 4-bar linkage, so the FlyBike FM1106, not 936. Their trail bike does look like the FM1001 though and geo chart is still a little different.
