How do you get to 10W? the measured RR on the website between the 2 tyres is much less, isn't it? is the rest your assumed aero drag difference?

Yes, but it’s per wheel on RR. So I think 2x5w.

Q: How easy or hard to fit the Hutchinson tires to the wheels? I'm using tpu tubes.

It was surprisingly easy. The Hutchinson tires are super soft. I could just pull them on with my hands/fingers. I also use TPU tubes.

Just to add a little information.
The Hutchinson Caracal Race 40s measure 42mm on my bike with Peter’s 33mm outer and 26mm inner rim dimensions.
Still works fine for the frame but I would not put anything larger and if it was muddy I would probably downsize for more mud clearance.

Just finished building my FM301 — and I'm loving it so far!

I finally completed the build of my FM301 frame, which I ordered from Tantan. The delivery took a bit longer than expected, mostly due to Chinese New Year and a delay getting the fork in the correct matte black finish. But it all worked out in the end.

Build details:

    Frame: Tantan FM301

    Wheels: 50mm carbon wheels with carbon spokes and ceramic bearings from Xiamen Carbon Speed (via Peter on the forum)

    Groupset: Shimano 105 shifters and brakes

    Crankset: Riro carbon, 165mm

    Weight is 8.05kg with th 40mm tires, bottle cages, Garmin mount and pedals. So ride configuration.

I started with 30mm Continental GP4000s, which measured about 33mm on the 26mm internal width rims. For my first gravel race, I borrowed a set of 40mm tires from a friend (actual width at the knobs was 40mm). I've now ordered a pair of Hutchinson Caracal Race 40mm semi-slicks for all-around use. I mostly ride endurance routes and have a lot of easy gravel around here, so they should be a good fit.

A few build notes:

    There’s a small gap at the headset, but nothing that bothers me.

    I went with a SRAM bottom bracket based on a forum tip, but it was very tight fitting the Riro crankset — I ended up using a rubber mallet.

    Internal cable routing was easier than expected for a first-time build. I found a great YouTube guide that used a brake cable to route through the bars — worked like a charm.

    I opted for a different cockpit setup than the standard one from Tantan to get flared bars. Switching it out was no problem when I asked during the order.

I raced it for the first time in a gravel event — came 4th and was absolutely stoked!

Litepro alu bottle cages, a number of sources. 21g alu cage, well under $10. Yes, there are carbon cages that are lighter, but if you're doing a color theme with bolts etc, these are very nice. A little tight on my Fly bottles but suspect they'll break in a bit.

Will do! However, I got an email from Vivian saying that they did not have the fork in matt black which I have ordered. They could send me a raw carbon fork and I could paint it but I don't want that so I rather wait until after their holidays for me to get the fork and frame in the same color. Still snow here in Sweden anyways. They will send the frame + fork in February instead.

I’ve ordered this frame and am building it up with wheels from Peter here.

Any recommendations on cranks and chain rings? Trying to keep the weight down while also keeping the budget  I am running Shimano 105 11-speed shifters, derailleurs, and brakes. I also picked up a lightweight cassette from Ztto.

Edit: I don’t know if it matters but I’m quite light 70kg/155lbs but can do a 1100w sprint.

Figure out the groupsets first. SRAM = XD, anything else = HG

Now I’m a bit confused thought since there seem to be HG bodies and HG road bodies?
Is that so? Will the HG body from Peter work for 11-speed Shimano?
