« on: May 23, 2015, 11:04:17 PM »You should consider swapping rotor sizes front to back. 180 Front 160 Rear. The Front does most of the work, so should be the larger disc.Thanks for catching that. It was a typo on my build sheet but knowing me I probably would have followed it when building the bike. Good catch and it's been fixed

I would love to win those!! I know if will get old quick so this will just be a temporary fix. The wheels I want will run about 800'ish so I will just need to save up a bit more for wheels, and figure another 250'ish for an 11 speed cassette to go with it. I'm guessing for where I ride the Chiner will get most of the action, so I won't be swapping all that frequently

So these build threads were absolutely huge when it came to me figuring out where to go with my bike. I figure if this thread helps even one person make a decision or get past a tricky spot, it'll be worth the effort. I'm sure once the ball gets rolling I will have some questions myself..
Heres my build sheet so far. Let me know what you think!! Its hot in AZ so may as well build a bike
Frame: IP/CS 057
Fork: Manitou Marvel Expert, 100mm
Headset: Nico (or maybe Cane Creek)
Handlebar: 720mm Bontrager Racelite (had it laying around)
Stem: 65mm Raceface
Brakes: Shimano SLX. 160 front 180 rear
Derailleur: SRAM GX 1x11
Seatpost: Bontrager racelite (had it laying around)
Seat: Bontrager Evoke (laying around)
Bottom Bracket: SRAM GXP?? Not sure about this one
Crank: SRAM X1 11 speed
Cassette: SRAM XO1 loaner off of other bike
Pedals: Shimano XT
Wheels: Bontrager Rhythm Elite borrowed off of Trek Fuel
Tires:
We'll see how the mood strikes..
Chain: SRAM 11 speed
Chainring: Wolftooth 30T
Rear axle: Chiner brand, will order with bike
So thats what I have so far. My plan is, for now, to swap the Bontrager Rhythm elites back and forth between my Fuel and the Chiner until I can muster up enough cash for a set of carbon wheels. Plus, doing this will save the the cost of buying another 11 speed cassette, and rotors. Let me know what you guy thinks or if I am missing anything!! Looking forward to this build

Anyone order a flyxii frame off of amazon recently? I tried searching but my skills are pretty lacking in that department. I found some of their frames and thought it would be somewhat comforting ordering through a company like Amazon. Any luck on this? Or should I just bite the bullet and order a 057 from Peter at xmcarbonspeed?

« on: May 22, 2015, 09:58:08 PM »Carbon wheels are many times stronger than their aluminum counterparts. I'd say go carbon if you can afford to. Just look for a bit wider rim than the "standard" XC rim widths. I've been running the 30mm hookless rims and they been absolutely awesome. Thousands of miles on them and they haven't needed any truing or the like. My aluminum wheels were never that reliable.
Yeah I think I am just gonna suck it up and go with the carbon wheels. The benefit of swapping wheels with my fuel is I could at least go 1x11 on the chiner, but I don't think I can afford all new parts for the new build if I add in a wheelset, so I would have to run 2x10. OH well. . I swear I am going carbon crazy trying to figure out where to go with this build. I still can't decide who to order from either. I like the cabonality.com website and how straightforward it seems, but I also here a lot of good things about Peter and I'm sure that will continue even though he's moved to another company.

Thanks I really appreciate that. I have a million questions but I'm trying to read as much of these forums as possible before asking stuff thats already out there. Also torn on whether or not to get the carbon wheels. I'm 240lbs so that may be a bit much I wonder, and was thinking I'd just swap out the Rhythm Elites I have on my Fuel, depending on what bike I planned on riding that day

Peter has been on the ball (maybe even overly so 
) responding to my emails so far. I am going to order from him next week once my paycheck rolls in. This will be the first build I've ever attempted so I looks forward to the challenge! I basically don't have the slightest clue what I am doing so this should be interesting. Other than the headset and bottom bracket install, I feel pretty confident I can get this done

Greetings fellow Chinertowners. Name is Brian in Phoenix, Arizona. I have been reading about these frames off and on for over a year now and finally think its time to pull the trigger. I had it all figured out that I would order in IP-057 from Peter at xmiplay, only to find out he had just left the company 
So this leaves me with a dilemma, do I order from Peter's new business, knowing the guy has a solid rep for customer service? Or do I go with someone at xmiplay and hope they are as responsive as Peter? Looking forward to this and it will be my first bike build. LOVE this website!! Ton of good info on here
