26er & 27.5 (650b) / chinese frames with slacker HT's?
« on: June 08, 2015, 03:08:54 PM »
are there any frames with more trail-like geometries? specifically, slacker headtubes, shorter chainstays, roomier front ends.

42mm is outside. inside is 36mm, which is wide, but not completely unreasonable. IMO any 2.2"+ tire will be fine

Does anyone have more insight on these rims?

is the spoke offset negative or positive? meaning if it adds or reduces the spoke cross. If it adds, it would be pretty awesome rim

After The Ride / Re: Various Full Suspension Designs
« on: May 23, 2015, 02:23:42 AM »
I think the different suspension design has to do a lot with simplicity. eg. the Horst link (FSR) patent expired few years ago (and was only applicable in the US, AFAIK) so they could use it if they wanted.
The only frame I know of to be using more advanced suspension design is the 2015 ICAN:

it is a DW-link desing, and I doubt they bothered with licensing.

cernymuz here. I ride all kinds of bikes, including BMX, DH and 29er enduro. I originally thought I will build myslef a chiner 29er but eventually got the Specizalized one. I at least plan on getting some nice wheels from there.

I got cheap carbon bars off aliexpress. I haven't ridden them yet, however I did a "test" by clamping them in a stem and hanging onto them, doing pull-ups and generally shaking myself. They did not even start to flex, so I would say they are quite strong
