Im running a Conti Raceking 2.2 front and TB 2.1 rear on my GR201.

Both absolute at the limit and for dry weather only. Had to trim of the hairs of the 2.2 RK.

But it’s great fun with these plush tires :-).

Interesting, good to know. Thanks!

I'm not sure what you are trying to achieve asking the question. Stick with the manufacturer's recommended rating and from there you can decide how close you want to run it to the frame. Everyone will have different opinions , I've seen photos of people happy with a 2-3mm clearance but I will never run something so close.

For me the whole point in buying a new frame would be to run mtb tires. I haven’t been able to find any frames that have a stated clearance above 50 mm, which is why I am asking if these do clear mtb tires even though that is wider than max stated width.

The manufacturer’s rating on my current frame is 35 mm but I am comfortably running 40s and have for a long time. So if a frame with 50 mm clearance can run 55 mm tires without issue that is fine with me.

Hi,

I have the VB Aero Grav. RK in 2.2 will not fit without clearing issues. I use Conti terra hardtack in 50mm on 30iw rims and there ist enough clearance. RK in 2.0 are more or less useless, cause you can not get them with the fast compound.

Cheers

Thanks for your reply! Did you try the RK’s on the 30 internal width wheels as well? I have a pair of JRA gecko which I intend to keep, they have a 21 mm internal. Would that work you think or would that be too tight too?

Hi all,

I am in the market for a new gravel frame and I’ve been looking at the two mentioned above, the Spcycle G058 and more recently the VeloBuild 2025 gravel.

Do any of you own any of these frames and know if they clear mtb tires, for example thunder burts or conti race kings?

Any other notes on these frames? I just now also learned about the tideace GR201. I am aiming for a relaxed geometry primarily aimed towards long days in the saddle/short light bikepacking trips.

Thanks in advance!
