I built mine up some time ago but was having these huge gaps…so i want to disassemble everything again to get it right. What am i doing wrong? Is this C ring that holds the fork in place supposed to sit deeper in the bearing and therefore causing this gap?
I am wondering if i should by a new headset

nearly finished (brakes, bar tape) - decals with "TRACTOR" (like Factor decals) are incoming
(don't really know how to attach pictures)
VB Aero Grav Size M
VB 0mm offset seat post
Integrated handlebar Balogue Gravel (380x80)
Easedon Gravel wheels (30mm inner width)
Continental Terra Hardpack 50mm (tubeless)
Shimano brake rotors 160mm
SRAM GX transmission cassette 10-52
SRAM GX transmission RD
SRAM Rival powermeter crankset with SRAM Red/Force 46T chainring
SRAM Force D1 STI
Shimano XT Pedals
Spezialized Power Saddle
Apparently the tires that are in the photos are 40's so tire clearance at least in the fork looks like it could clear 2.2's maybe. at least 2.0 in the rear.
What of the geometry of the GR/GV201 are you disliking that you prefer in the VB Aero Grav?
