So my build is almost finished. And so far everything went just fine...but i just cant comprehend how to use this D-shaped epander plug.

When the expander is completely loose, it fits into the steerer tube. However, when I turn the Allen bolt from the top, the two internal wedge pieces don't engage with each other, so the expander doesn't tighten.

When I connect the two wedge pieces beforehand by threading the bolt in just one or two turns, the expander already becomes too wide to fit into the steerer tube.

Outside the fork, the mechanism works perfectly. The threads engage smoothly and the expander tightens as intended.

So essentially, I can't get the threads to engage once the expander is inside the steerer tube, but connecting them beforehand makes the expander too wide to insert.

I've attached a few photos to illustrate the mechanism.

Does someone have an idea how this should work?

I read in the Tavelo Arow Thread (page 13) that there was an answer by tavelo

"The expander requires a specialized installation process, which we will detail in a comprehensive "User Instruction Manual" to facilitate proper installation and disassembly." But of course this cannot be found anywhere.

I have ordered a Tavelo Arden in Size L in glossy black (white decals, not the POP version) via a belgian shop. A few days before Pandapodium launched it...

It should arrive in a few days. will share how the build is going here (or probably ask some noob-questions if i am running into problems)

The german website tavelo-bikes de lists it for 2.500€ / 2.800$ (including cockpit)  which is ridiculous

The tavelo website says ,,not in stock" and only lists the silver Pop Color. The german Tavelo website sells it for a price way too high and even offers the SL Version (which was never announced afaik).

And i just cant decide whether i should go for an ER:One or wait for something with a higher stack (like Tavelo Arden) at the moment i got a canyon ultimate in S (390 Reach, 539 stack, 90mm stem) and i would like to have more reach and more stack...so i would need to have maybe some spacer plus riser cockpit on the Er:One due to its Stack being so low :/

Finally finished my first build with this frame this week.
Thanks to everyone helping me out with my questions. Learned a lot, had to buy a lot of tools during the process and am happy that i was able to finish it.

Still a bit unsure about the big gaps i have at the fork/headset.

I did experience the same issues as others with the seat clamp and i was a bit underwhelmed by the comfort...it feels harsher than my old cube nuroad AL with 40mm tires and an elita one seatpost. But i thin it will be a good winter bike

Do I have to use spacers when installing a sram dub wide rival crankset on this frame with a t47 dub road wide Bottom Bracket (00.6418.033.001)

Because i have very much Play / the axis seems to be to long

My frame arrived a few weeks ago (Size S, glossy black, with both seatpost options, separate Bar + Stem Combination of velobuild) and i am about to start my first build.

But i am already clueless in the first steps into the build... So i want to install the fork, spacers and stem to measure where to cut the fork. But as everything keeps feeling very loose i am not sure what i am doing wrong.

From my understanding the steps should be like this:

- install upper and lower bearing
- install the crown-race on the fork to create the right angle that fits in the lower bearing
- put the fork through the steerer tube
- install the compression ring that holds the fork in place (as shown in the picture)
- then install the "cover" where the spacers fit onto

But if i do it in this order, the "cover" (what i am holding in the picture)  does not fit properly on to the compression ring and there is a gap between steerer tube and the cover. I'm wondering why this "cover" on the underside, which rests on the compression ring, has these small holes if there are no corresponding counterparts, i.e., "pins," that fit into these holes. This makes me doubt whether I have understood the structure correctly at all.

i dont think there are any Schwalbe X-One in 40mm. Its a Cyclocross tire and afaik theres max. 35mm version of this tire.

I dont see any differences to the one at the website expect for the fork
