29er / Re: IP-036 Shock Tune

I called a local suspension specialist. The H/H tune assembly is $50, takes about a week to arrive to the shop. Labor quoted at $80 so $130 to change the tune. Will report back once I spend some time on the new tune.

I remember finding the information on the original huge mtbr thread. I think the conclusion was for a high rebound / high compression tune for the monarch rt3.

I'm in the same boat as you with a monarch xx with full sprint dual lockouts. I've got the rebound maxed out and running higher psi  (160 psi) though I weigh less than you at 170. I still feel the suspension is a bit plush for my liking with noticeable pedal bob.

I just had a look through the RS spare parts catalog (see url below). On page 92-93, there appears to be a tune assembly allowing for the high/high tune on the XX. I haven't had a chance to run by the lbs to see if they can order the parts but that appears to be the only solution I could dig up. Anyone attempt this solution?

I really don't want to give up the dual lock-outs so ideally like to find a solution. Otherwise I might switch the shock out for a cane creek dbinline which will allow tinkering.

I'm running 1x11 XT so front derailleur stop sounds like the safer option. Anything have experience with this?

29er / Drilling Hole into 036 for dropper post remote internal routing
« on: August 17, 2015, 01:17:01 PM »
I bought a Rockshox Reverb Stealth dropper post before I realized that there isn't a way to internally route the remote cable. For the rear shock internal route, I have a remote hose going through it already so no go there.

I'm considering drilling into the down tube to route the cable internally. I came the post linked to below. Is this a crazy idea? What are the ramifications of drilling into it?

I noticed a small hole in the carbon fiber last night above the bottom pivot (see pic). Do you guys think this is a concern?

6
Carbonazza - I just checked a price quote using my company's fedex account and it is too much to justify unfortunately. Thanks again for the offer.

I guess I'll have to get it shipped in from China. Too bad I already sold my old bike  :(

Upon closer inspection, I'm looking for QR rear dropouts. Anyone have a pair laying around or know where I can find some in the states?

8
Hi Peter - thanks for offering to help. Here are the pics of the drop-outs.

Please let me know if anyone has a set of 10x135 drop-outs, in the states ideally.

Thanks c. I'll take a pic of them when I get home tonight to compare.

I think I've read that many of the frames use the same drop-outs but can anyone confirm?

29er / 036 build - some ?'s and looking for rear drop-outs (QR)
« on: July 28, 2015, 10:46:23 AM »
Hi guys - have been reading ferociously for a few weeks and have initiated my 036 build. Everything has been ordered and almost everything received (just waiting on some XT 11sp components to arrive). See build list at the bottom. I have a few questions that I hope you guys can help with.

1. I ordered a set of wheels that have 10x135mm rear hubs. They're a set of previous generation Crank Brothers Cobalt 3's that can't be converted up to 12x142mm. My frame came with 12x142mm drop-outs. Does anyone have a pair of QR drop-outs that they're willing to sell to me or know where to order? I'm hoping to receive sooner rather than later so can complete the build this week.

2. I have a dropper with internal routing (Rockshox Reverb Stealth) and remote dual lock-out (Rockshox xLoc full sprint). I just received the frame yesterday and it has 3 internal routing options which will be utilized by a) rear brake, b) rear derailleur c) remote lock to shock. Does anyone know whether it is possible route the dropper cable internally through the frame as well? I've seen builds with one or the other, but not both.
If it doesn't work, what cable should be external?

3. Related to above, does anyone have pointers on installing the xLoc full sprint remote? It's my first bike build and I haven't been able to find much in terms of installing this component.

Thanks for the help!!
