Do you really need a chain guard with wheeltop gex? I'm also thinking about this specific model of chain guard.

Not with the chain ring that I’m running. But I just like having one just Incase. The clutch keeps the chain pretty stable but I’m a creature of habit

This bike is pretty fast. Took it on a 75 mile gravel ride today. It did really well in the sand pit areas with the 50mm tires on it. 5 stars for this bike

With full integration or you use this frame cap with holes?

It’s semi integrated for now. I’m test out different stem length to see what I like. I ride with a 80mm stem first but it made the bike feel too small. I put a 100mm and did around 45 miles and it felt much better.  I have some numbness in my left fingers, so now I have to figure out my hood position on the left side.

Just tight enough so that there is no play in the headset. It's also called "pre-load" and describes pretty much what it does. If you want a torque setting I'd go with 1-1.5Nm. 5Nm is definitely too much and might even overload the bearings i.e. excessive wear. The top cap does not hold the fork (except during the installation process), the handlebar bolts/clamp will do that. It really is just to pre-load the whole setup so that it is nicely tight when you torque the handlebar bolts to spec. If you want, you could even remove the top cap and screw afterwards - not recommended since it leaves a hole and looks shit but just technically speaking.

Interesting. Most people would have actually preferred a "no hole fork" but didn't know that would have been an option, from what I saw. Sucks, that you see it the other way round. And totally agree with you, they should have made that clear during the ordering process. But not surprised either. One thing I learn from ordering Chinese direct to consumer, is that I over-confirm everything. Had a few "aha-moments" on similar details where I thought everything is clear but turned out it wasn't.

Great explanation, thank you.

Which handlebar do you use? Max. 2 nm on the cap

separate bar and stem combination

Quick question. After torquing down the compression nut. Do y’all apply a small amount of torque to the top cap or just tight enough for no head play. Some say 5nm some say 2-3nm

its a DUB wide crankset with BBinfinite bottom bracket and their wide spacers
@gloscherrybomb is using the same setup as me so he already helped me out. Thanks

It fits without a spacer, but I used a small one (0.5mm maybe?) just to give a little extra clearance.

FYI I’m using the wheeltop gravel groupset also. It’s perfect once you get the gears dial in. It never miss a shift.

Ok perfect thank you.

46 T, tyres and chainring are maxed out on this frame.

What size spacer did you use on the front chainring to get the 46t to fit?

A few updates for this season:

- Switched to Wheeltop GEX which support the 50T cassette better - also 13 speed (new cassette, 11-50)
-Voicevelo VFV Deep-V seatpost
- clikvalves
- Tufo Thundero HD 48mm tyres

I think I ask you this before but I forgot. I’m about to but a 46T chainring up front what size spacer did you use on the drive side

I just got mine and was playing around with tires. The Burt's were too big on the rear but the race king has maybe 4mm of clearance.

Idk what to do for the handlebar situation. I haven't cut the steerer yet but it does not seem like I'll be able to compress the headset. It seems loose. Will report back later.

I recommend using  a longer headset compression nut. The one that comes with the bike is too short unless you’re slamming the stem

She is 98% finish. Just bar tape after I figure out if I like my hood position. She rides pretty well and I have some 50mm tires on her.

That looks GREAT

Could you please share which chainstay frame protector have you used?

I got it from amazon here’s a link

I want to say Eddy is the man if you need a bike frame. I ordered my frame on the 3rd of March and it was painted and shipped on Monday and I got it on Wednesday. If that’s not fast service I don’t know what is.  Total 16 days from ordering it to my door.
