Few more weeks with the Bryton S810, I would not recommend this device. The battery has been decent, and the screen is fine but I have been having connection issues as of late.

Negatives:
  • GPS lock is slow
  • Takes 10 minutes to connect to power meter, old iGPSport was instant
  • Also keeps dropping connection to devices, I lost my Di2 gear status about a dozen times in my last two hour ride

Picked up a pair of Ultegra pedals, they were from the seller I bought a bunch of other genuine shimano components from and double the price of most of the obvious counterfeits. Still appears they might be counterfeit? Overall they look pretty good but the notch in the back is often seen as an obvious tell, and they do not have the notch near the Japan text. Overall they look quite clean, click when adjusted and feel reasonable.

Any of these kind of backing programs carries risk. While Indiegogo might offer refunds prior to the closure of the campaign, beyond that its up the the organizers of the campaign, and while they might make every promise in the world now, they aren't actually held to anything and this could change in the future.

I have had some products from Indiegogo that went very well, but these products were pretty much fully ready by the time they created the campaign and it was more for marketing. Others where the product looked pretty close to ready and now here we are 2 years later where they now refuse/don't answer refund requests, are missing all the incredibly late targets they set for themselves and it feels likely the company will just dissolve before the products are actually delivered.

If you aren't ok with risk it would be better to wait for the product to be delivered, reviewed and then you can decided if it is worth it, albeit you will likely pay more.

Received a few days ago, but its been too rainy to test it out.

Construction:
Feels well enough built, no major gaps or seams, nothing amazing but fine.

Screen
I haven't been able to test it in sunlight but from a resolution perspective the screen itself isn't up there with the Karoo 3 and Edge 1050. Bryton refused to disclose the resolution which is never a good sign, but with some crude measurements I think its going to be close to the S800 which was 272 x 451 (roughly half that of the Karoo 3 and Edge 1050).

UI
I don't love the UI of the system, it feels like certain things are buried in menus and others you would assume are within menus are within the different ride programs, even just turning off the device feels a little clunky with having to hold the power button for what feels like 10 seconds before a prompt shows up on the screen. I added my connective devices to the Bryton and while they are connected and do show data I cannot view the devices I have connect beyond my DI2. Everything else doesn't show up in the list for whatever reason. So far I have much preferred the UI and app of the iGPSport devices compared to this.

I was hoping to have my Ultegra shifter command buttons to have some more advanced use cases, such as pressing one direction for page back, one for page forward, and hold press to go to a specific screen. The options for the Bryton are limited to only: Lock, Next Page, Lap.

Overall
If we get lucky with some decent weather this weekend I will post a little more, for now I probably should have just sprung the extra for a Karoo or Edge.

I really love it!

Awesome to hear some real user experience, any chance you can confirm more details regarding the battery life? Is it really on upwards of 50 hours? How does the screen compare to the 840 for reflections and brightness, and any confirmation of the resolution? Thanks!

Picked up the ~195 g 12 speed 11-34T. Think it might be warped or something as I can't get it to run well, shifting is fine but sounds like it is rubbing or ticking in a few of the gears. Haven't been able to fix it with adjustment of the rear derailleur.

Used to be into it for coffee gear. Not a guide by any means but taobao is a real pain in general, its recommended to use an agent to act as the middle man, they receive the package, take some photos and then repackage and ship it to you. The problem would be once its reshipped to you, you won't have much of any recourse to return the items if there are any issues unless you want to pay to ship it back to China.

Usually once you factor in the agent fees you really aren't saving a ton vs aliexpress, especially with some coupon stacking. The only real benefit I would see is finding items that are only on the chinese market. Even trying to browse taobao these days is quite difficult, and accounts are difficult to create and don't even fully solve the problem.

Saving $40 isn't worth questionable performance in a safety system. Buy a garmin. If the $40 matters that much, buy a used Varia. Be happy.

As much as I would love to I refuse to buy any device with micro-usb in 2025.
